- Rangers made a prefect start to their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 demolition of Sturm Graz. Michael Mols opened the scoring in the ninth minute tapping in after good play from Ronald de Boer. Allan Johnston then crossed for de Boer to slide the ball in while Jorg Albertz added a third when he thundered a shot into the net. In the second half, Albertz missed an early penalty but there were further goals from Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Billy Dodds.

Love michael mols face at the start!! blown away by the atmosphere!!:D
Looks Chinese
What a player Mols was!
I know m8 he was pure class and bad injuries ruined his career
Great player. Brilliant on the turn. Never quite the same after his injury against Bayern. What a team we had back then.
johnston had good game
@@raymondmcmenemy303 I was gutted for him and us that season....They lost Larson with that broken leg, imagine how many points we'd have won the league by that season with a fit Mols....
All Oliver khans fault really. Wank
Please Don't Judge Here: I'm A Celtic Fan And I Only Wanna Say That "The Hammer" (Jorge Albertz) Will always Be Ma Fav Player, Along With Andreas Thom (Celtic) They Both Had Lightening Bolts In Their Left Foots.
It’s jorg
back when rangers were good
Yeah predictive made me put the first name wrong.
Liverpool's John Arne Riise had a hell of a left foot as well
The legend that is MIKE MOLS.WHAT A TEAM WE HAD THEN,CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE GERS IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AGAIN.💪✌✋.
If I remember right, Sturm Graz shipped 10 goals in their first two games and went on to qualify. It's a funny old game right enough.
I think if mols never got injured against Bayern we would be talking about him like laudrup and Larson
Like Larson
i was always AMAZED at why Jorg ''the hammer'' Albertz never made the German National squad... his goal record spoke for itself.... Left Back/Left Mid/Centre Mid .... what a player he was !!
First time I've watched this in 20 years and I can still remember every goal (and every line of Archie Macpherson's commentary).
Was one of the best atmospheres at a european game at ibrox that night ,loved it ,it was Amazing ,Great team ,doesnt feel like that long ago .👍🔴⚪🔵 WATP
Nicholas Taylor the 2-0 win over Parma was the best atmosphere I ever felt at ibrox. What a night.
I like your profile pic lol, I seen your comment and thought to myself "I can't remember writing that" 😂
@@djackson006 Still puts the hairs up on the back of my neck thinking of that game. The recent Rapid Vienna match at Ibrox is the only game that comes close!
De Boer and Mols were sheer class. Mols would have got even better had he not been butchered by Bayerh's keeper.
must be something about german keepers, cos it reminded me of Schumachers tackle in 78
Aye I was at that match in Munich. Kahn should have seen red. We hammered them in midfield. Cruel to lose 1-0. Deserved more!
Claudio Reyna, what a player that wee guy was for Rangers. Never disposessed, never gave the ball away, always found his man with well weighted balls into feet and always looking to recieve a pass. Fantastic wee player, an often unsung hero in that team.
Wow, we played very attractive football in 2000. Great to go back and watch these matches, no surrender!
cheers for this mate, been waiting to see this again for so long
Was in attendance that night. Was the perfect performance. Could have had 10.
Ibrox a temple of football.......
2000/2001 where the best group of player's for my era ,what joy it was to watch like this game on their game unstoppable bringing Scottish football to the world , nights like these where utter spine tingling atmosphere in Ibrox WATP
What a legend Billy Dodds is
We brought in the Oranjie Tooters the Dutch brass band for these games. Remember it well.
Billy Dodds was quality for Rangers.
Sean Connery @ 7:51
haha quite funny whenever we score the scoreboard says "The' Rangers" instead of just Rangers, never saw that before...
if only we could still have European nights like those...what a team!
I remember this night well we were sitting in the govan stand next to the michael mols utrecht brass band.Rangers were fantastic and the atmosphere was electric!! WATP
We started that European campaign with a bang but ended with a whimper.

That Billy Dodds goal will forever be one of my favourite memories.
I have a Rangers addiction, keep me up in these strange times.
My favourite rangers team of all time, I loved these nights and we took them for granted. Rangers make up 99.99% of who I am I live and breathe the gers, NO SURRENDER
What a rangers team that was!!!. hope we get back there again..
These days will be back in the not so distant future WATP
Ramone Heinz lol. Only if you manage to start financial doping spending money you don’t have and start another EBT scam
As far away as ever 😂😂😂
@@Hoopspur welcome to 2021 timmy
Billy dods one of Scotland best finishers in the spl he never got to show he could do it at a higher level until he was past his true prime that was when he was at Aberdeen he's the Aberdeen mccoist that got to score some class goals before he retired
Ronald de Boer absolutely bossed the game.
Billy Dodds , goal of the 5!
Albertz' goal was the pick of them all.
that was a breath of fresh air after our performance the other night cheers
changed days noo rab. the g-man is gettin it done
@@lorreba3054 sure is pal ,watp
Listen to that noise 🏴🇬🇧🔵🔴⚪
The goal number 5 was the best goal of the game ⚽🏆👍
And that was a great Valencia side, they made the champions league final 2 years in a row in 2000 and 2001.
This depressed me watching this😢 wit a team we had back then 🔴⚪🔵
Was there. Great night... but soooooo long ago!
They were great days, that team really should have done better in the champions league though with the class of players we had, what a contrast to today.
Ridiculous that we didn't qualify from this group. Won away in Monaco, destroyed Graz at home...
Yeah they may have beaten Sturm Graz 5:0 but Sturm Graz ended up winning the group after beating Rangers 2:0 at home
My wee brothers first game. Waaayyy up in the club deck.
I have Paul Gascoigne's autograph somewhere in my parents house.
1st champions league game i was at way my da what a nyt miss u da rest easy mon the bears
Fantastic nights!!! Loved going to european games knowing if we play well we could beat any team, seems a million miles away now though watching the gers now, Broadfoot,Ortiz,Edu,Healy, those standard players wouldn`t have got into reserve team back then, 3 in a row fantastic achievement, but getting knocked out of europe of malmo and maribor is not good enough, the revenue our club makes from season tickets, shirt sales etc should be enough to put a team out that can beat these teams easily
My first time at a football match. I miss the big Berti Konterman days.
great performance from Rangers could easily have been 8 or 9-0
Christ. Advocaat left right before it was announced that we owed the bank nearly a 100 million pounds and that minty had blown most of it on chasing European success with wee Dick. Him leaving was the beginning of the cloth cutting at Rangers. If we'd had a goal scorer like Super Ally in that Advocaat side then we would have been right in amongst it in the champions league no doubt.
what i would give for that team now
Mols man ⚽⚽🇬🇧🇬🇧
changed days!! rangers will never be able to play like that again in europe! class of 2000 to 2010 davie weir captain at 40 jesus christ times have changed!
I wish that Alfie had Billy Dodds' brain.
i was there it could have should have been 7 or 8 mols de bore awsom players rangers legends WATP
That was a quality gers side😆👍
Dave Dante it definitely was. And yet we won fuck all that season. Shite.
ooooooooooooohhhh....the ramsden cup
Numan, Klos and de Boer - unequivocably world class. Mols, Reyna and Albertz - not far off. And one of our own captained them. We may never see his like again. Shame he's a bloody awful pundit and 'columnist', who does NOT tell it how it is.
The dutch!!!!
Gerrard is bringing 55
watp!
those were the days!
what happened to micheal mols??
Knee injury
BILLY DODDS
What I would give for a mols now :(
rangers had a good team then
Rangers won nothing this season and still had a squad fulla quality players🤪⚽️
5 going on 25 some performance...
Alesandro Del Dodds.
Rangers where are you now.....?
whether you are a rangers or celtic fan you know that is a very stupid question.........................where are rangers? Pathetic
company/shareholders might collapse....the club..i.e. rangers/fans never surrender, that isnt a sectarian nod by the way, just a turn of phrase
Benno7844
oh oh - somebody is butthurt....
KCRyder yeah Alan Brazil
what a lot of nonsense.......Lovenkrands and Kenny Miller were signed for the future. Johnston and Ritchie werent even first team players. He signed de boer, flo, ricksen and konterman for the first team. THAT was the problem, too many dutchmen. Always said if we signed Hartson and a great centre back we would have had no problem with o'neills long ball merchants. Too many dutchmen was the reason advocaat lost the dressing room.
Ridiculous that we didn't qualify from this group. Won away in Monaco, destroyed Graz at home...
