*Phenomenal portaband. Worth the wait in replacing my stolen previous model **MyBest.Tools** Variable speed, with an adjustable governor, adjustable shoe, and locking articulating forward handle. It's beefy, but feels just incredibly well built and solid, will eat through strut, emt, rigid, all thread, whatever, all day.*
I had the larger floor model version of this WEN saw a few years back and absolutely loved it. Super accurate cuts spot on. Were it not for a divorce attorneys fee's I would still have it along with the rest of my shp tools :(
Bought this saw a few months ago and been loving it. I converted it to be a vertical bandsaw (have a video for those wishing to do the same) and it has been a blast. As noted, the blade that came with the machine, although it cuts nice, had a small bump with each rotation probably due to the weld. Eventually it ended up breaking and I replaced it with a Lenox blade which made the machine a bit quieter (probably due to the higher TPI) and runs smoother. Overall id buy this saw again if I ever needed to.
Your video pushed me off the fence. If anyone from WEN is reading this, you should know this video convinced me to order one of these Bad Boys. Thanks SBM for making this video and steering me in the right direction! Regards, John Archer
@@silverbackmoose8642 Excellent video! Excellent saw! I cut a piece of 1 3/4 aluminum bar stock and it was the proverbial hot knife through butter. Cut was super smooth and almost perfectly square. I was very impressed and very happy with my purchase thanks to you!
The original design was by "Femi" and they originated from Italy - My one says APEX and is red instead of orange but it is the same machine and like you said it cuts F**ing stright ! but mine was a second hand one off eBay pretty cheap as the blade kept coming off when the machine was under load taking cuts - Best tool I've bought in a long time, I love it !
I'm so glad I found this video. I almost bought this POS. Basically brand new and pieces are already breaking off. The angle tape is off. The throat adjustment throws the blade out of whack. You synch down the saw and it's still jerking in every direction. I wanted to go the bandsaw route because its so much cheaper than getting a chop saw/ blades, but I realized after watching this video that its not an apples-to-apples comparison. Will save up a bit and buy a nice Makita metal chop saw and never look back! Thanks for taking the time. Hopefully you save a lot more people the needless expensive.
Been using one for almost 3 years with no problems except the nut tightener on the gap adjustment broke just like yours did. Using the Starrett blade now and it runs really smooth, probably due to a better weld. The factory blade had a little bump sound every time it came around. I've started using a small (6 inch) bar clamp to hold the the trigger down while cutting. It's a great size for my small shop; can live with its quirks.
ive built over 50 very large Smokers over the last 2.5 years with 2 of these. replaced a few bearings as it. Had multiple googans using it too.Blades from Amazon. Imachinist I think. Great customer service. Would love a super pro version so my guys couldnt beat it up so much. having am issue with it popping off back wheel the last few days, thus i saw your video. I think it is roller bearings. gonna get some more. nice video, thanks
I have one of these and I buy a 1/8" shorter blade which fits like a glove , so your blades never fall off!! Though, I use mine for cutting soft materials like brass and aluminum and it's perfect for my needs. Running string and smooth over 2 years now
Home Depot and/ or Amazon have it listed for $112.99 . If only I had the money. I thought about the evolution saw, but you made a GREAT point regarding the blade price ..$89. I wouldn't be using this every single day, but I'd still want something that's got a sturdy base and cuts close to true? Oh whoies me! Lol
I was about to purchase a miter saw to cut 6061 Aluminum flat/square bar. i.e. Dewalt DCS361M1 + a metal cutting blade. Would that be a better option than this Wen product for cutting small aluminum stock for CNC milling on my hobby mill?
great video thank you. would this cut a 4” pvc sewer pipe. The actual outside dimension is closer to 4 3/4” round. I use a porta band all the time but this would be cleaner
so i did buy this tool and have used it in the field by mounting it to a portable tool caddy that mounts to a saw horse. the cuts are FACTORY square I am very happy with it. Cuts 4” PVC no problem
I sold mine does not cut square and when you adjust it to much the blade breaks $100 bucks more and you get the malita cold saw blades are expensive but it cuts straight 💯 and accuracy is on point
Great video. Been looking at buying a band saw. Your link to The Home “Despot” now shows it to be a discontinued item, Wen model #3975. The new model number is not much different and is listed as model #3975T. I wonder what change(s) they may have made. Like made it better... or worse. 😂

I just unboxed mine, searched youtube, found this video, subscribed, and now I'm ready to go be a man. Thanks for the introduction.
Make sure you order an extra blade from Starret!

The scale has slotted holes for calibrating it's angle. Loosen the screws and rotate it to the correct blade angle.
Please make more videos!

Nice review! Was looking at this saw for awhile, for some reason I am seeing it retail at $395 now
It’s a great saw if you take the time to set the blade tension correctly and measure the angle is cutting at.
Just bought one today from HomeDepot for $305.
Will it have trouble cutting through a 2" diameter stainless bar?
No. Definitely not. Just turn the speed to slow keep the blade lubbed with cutting oil or 3inone and let her eat!

Cual es e costo de la herramienta
I'm still on the fence between this saw and the KLUTCH saw?? Any suggestions?
The vice on the clutch did not look as good
is this saw able to stand completely vertical?
Not out of the box. But people have modified it to make it vertical
I've had one for 3 years and it's a blade eater
Try adjusting the blade tension.
What size blade does it take?
@@Robocoppat 1440mm x 0.6mm 21 tpi
Fuckin love this review
Fucking great video
I'm getting one because of this
Thanks!!!
stole all AvE ‘s sayings... good job. 🤔
He’s a good role model
I wonder how long that turd will last? I guess for 400 bucks you can buy 2
If your gonna do reviews of bandsaws. Atleat now how to operate it correctly. You do not leave the guides all the way out.
Your review would have been decent if your vocabulary had been a little better.
Fail to see how his vocabulary affects his ability to give a demonstration?
