I have the milwaukee portaband and broke my first blade the day I bought it.( I feel it had a defective weld) I replaced it with a Lennox 18 tpi blade I bought at Lowes (the only store I could find a blade) and its been on my saw for nearly a year now and has worked flawlessly. I didn't have any of the issues you had (thankfully).

One more thing IF you had "blade bobbing" you cut a material too fast or with too much force. This is a light duty machine and IF you treat it like that you will get good results. I have had mine for over a year and cut steel and aluminum and went SLOWLY and never had a problem.

Lifesaver! We love our little Wen but it certainly had me stumped trying to get it going again after changing the blade.

I have the same model you have. I think your problem is that the band blade is rolling off the front edge of the pulleys. I just opened mine up. The pulleys both have a flange that keeps the blade from rolling off the back side of the pulley (the edge with no teeth). There must be a taper on the pulley outer surface that keeps it from rolling off the toothed side. Material can build up on the outer surfaces of the pulley where the band blade rolls as well as the band itself. This material can fowl the slope and make the band roll off. I would get a rag and clean those surfaces off as you slowly advance the blade. Also clean the blade. With clean pulleys and blade, the problem might go away. I don't see a way to adjust the orientation of the pulleys to biasing the direction that the blade tends to migrate as it is rotating. But it is most likely build into the pulleys themselves.

Had one for 4 years. Blade is 1435mm x 0.6mm x 13mm. Keep blade length short for each job, tension when runninq so it stays within the guide rollers but no tighter!

Not the saw it’s the installer. I have one and have changed the blade half dozen times or more and I don’t have any problem or have to remove any of the rollers to put on a new blade

I have 12" and 14" verticle metal cutting bandsaws a portable bandsaw and a large horizontal bandsaw. All have Sterrett blades and I've never had any problems. I'd say the extra cost is worth it. Also, I'd never buy blades from Amazon because of the price. There are a couple of online blade sellers that make blades to your specs at no extra cost. Sorry you had so much trouble replacing the blade on your bandsaw, but I did enjoy the video!

Hi Dave, Just purchased this saw and then saw your video and have reviewed all the comments regarding the replacement blade. Now that some time has passed, is there a final recommendation for a replacement blade? If so, what might that be? Also, you make mention in this video of a larger size end mill (that looks like an indexeable one) that you are really happy with. Can you share the info on that model? Thanks! Another 'Dave M."

I bought the Imachinist blade from Amazon when I bought the saw. I hope I have a much easier time replacing the blade than you did!

It would really help if you had some kind of light shining on the bandsaw. I couldn't see any of the details you were out against black background.

Dave, First off I bought one of these and mine works perfect. I did a few mods on it like TAPE the trigger to the handle. WHY you need this is moronic. Just use the on/off switch. Even IF you wanted to be a dork and use the trigger it is in the wrong position. It causes you to bend your wrist too far. I do agree with you the feed bar is USELESS and I threw mine out. I looked at the rear and changing blades should be no problem. Oh and one more thing, get used to EVERYTHING made in China unless you want to pay TRIPLE for the SAME item.

Dave, you suggested your bandsaw uses a custom blade size, by which I assume you mean length. If you have a local(ish) supplier of stock bandsaw blade of suitable depth, thickness and toothcount have you thought of making your own. There's several UT vids on the subject, the one I like is from a channel called Tom's Techniques, (

This goes under you get what you pay for. That is a throw away tool. I good quality saw of that size but much more quality normally cost 600-900 dollars.
