with nitrous that much horsepower alltogether to its fair
yeah it makes 550hp with nitrous not 550 hp and more with nitrous, so it's just 550 hp vs 540 hp, and the torque is not always good because you could have less grip
Diesel engines are always havew more torque compared to a petrol engine that has a similar performance.
and 5x faster shifts
The torque is real. I'm on my second car of a single make and practically the same model, but the difference being 121hp diesel and 147hp petrol (I know, low power numbers, but the point is comparison). 320nm vs 210nm though, and I can 100% feel it. Diesel feels more impressive even if after a while the petrol is the faster car (because power difference)
Gearing is what kills the diesel.

Watch the Ibiza 1.9 Tdi vs the golf gti video. The gti absolutely smoked the Ibiza yet was down by 300nm of torque and had the same bhp.. The golf driver in this video just knew his car better and was a better driver 💁 not to mention had much better power to weight ratio as well as having nos soooo….

But do we just ignore the fact that the Golf easily weights 200 to 300 Kilo less? It is stripped down. While the Atsra still is stock.

There is just nothing to compare to begin with. This comparsion serves no purpose since the autcome was clear to all from the beginning.

My 3rd car was (and still is) 2.0L diesel, and I'm propably never changing back to gas. The torque and fuel consumption is so much better that I feel like I'd be missing alot with gas, and the low end torque makes driving feel so much better.
That said, if I change to gas, it needs to be alot bigger block than my current diesel, coz i really need the missing torque, but then fuel consumption goes to skies

With 1000NM of torque, it must be something on the highway going from 50 to 120 in 5th or 6th gear, if the gear train can handle it.
Never been in a diesel anything near as crazy powered as that golf though i have had couple experiences in astra vxr standard and one thats been tweaked and fettled with and can remember how fast it felt when already moving so the rolling race i could appreciate the bonkersersness of this golf in how it breezed away no drama😲😲 even invented a new word to describe the beast👌,, both pukka cars in different ways

I had a VXR, stage 2 with full turbo back exhaust, dynod to 278 BHP. It's too much power for FWD. Currently my 2017 S3 Quattro is AWD and stock is 310 BHP so not a huge amount more power, but the Vxr 0-60 was only 5.7 where as the Audi can do 4.4 at stock! So can't wait to remap my new beast

That golf is a rocket ship. To put that 6.1 into perspective that’s quicker than huracans aventador lp700s a tuned 800hp plus urus also nismo gtr man it’s within a tenth or 2 of a 992 turbo s. Sick build and my man can peddle too

I had a 1.9 PD MK4 golf estate I used as a van. Only 150bhp, but I did 120k in mine, didn't service it once and it was literally bulletproof. What an engine.

Driver of the Golf knows EXACTLY how to drive it. Short shifts to second like an absolute pro. He has the torque to back it up.

The 1.9 TDI belongs in battle tanks lol. So much torque on tap. All I've done to mine is an EGR delete and replacing shift solenoids and I can take down same year civic si's off the line and up to speed. Love them with a passion.

Not even slightly. Horsepower makes a car fast, torque is what makes it feel fast. Horsepower is calculated by torque and rpm. Hence older Honda make no torque but still as fast as other cars with the same power and more torque.. but they won't feel as fast when driving.

Never underestimate the power n torque of a tuned diesel..I have mapped many diesels myself and they always perform better on a stage 1..and torque is more fun than hp!
