Supposedly they will be green-lit to run 180kmph and even more once the tracks are renewed and are built to withstand such higher speeds. The higher speeds will also be dependent on the Indian Railways first being able to fence off those higher speed corridors so that there aren't stray animals on the tracks-- several have been hit on other Vande Bharat corridors already.

@@himanv 180 kmph is the design speed, VB v2 will run 160 kmph commerically. If you need to run a train at 180 kmph, you need to do oscillation trails at 200 kmph.180 kmph is the FOS for 160 kmph.

One thing you must note is, there has been massive overhaul in express trains too in the background. Old ICF coaches are getting retired and all trains are now getting the German design LHB Coaches. They are safer especially during accidents like derailment. If you google 2019 was the first time in history no passenger death happened in Indian railways from any accidents. The reason was the increase in no. of LHB Coaches. LHB Coaches are way smoother and less noisy too.

Vande bharat is being promoted and encouraged by the curious public aswell . The public is figuring out how there experience was ,rotating seats ,become toilets etc. The idea is to educate the public at large to experience a more executive class travel , so that common and the poor man can habituate to an evolved train travel. Btw , the sleeper class trains of Vande bhatat will soon make entry aswell . And perhaps two more types of these trains, each more upgraded by speed and comfort untill the real bullet train becomes a normal experience one day soon .

It was faster than the vande bharat. I enjoyed your unique commentary. When Germany and Ireland get together it has to be unique. Luke, I see you still wearing the old cap. The Indian Railways being one of the oldest, longest network, and most popular transportation means between cities needed an Overhaul that was LONG DUE. Apparently some good sense prevailed in the Railways dept that they introduced this VB which is a Big stepping stone. If you want tourism to become popular in India, the infrastructure and the amenities need to improve. Speed wise i dont think these trains are super fast and as far as i know the Rajdhani and Shatabdhi that were introduced way back, had top operating speeds equal or higher than the VB. The main appeal with the VB is an extra attention to comfort, Cleanliness, control of unauthorized passengers. Next step to happen is the control of unauthorized crowd in stations, and regulating only the passengers into the boarding area like its done in Europe, US etc. And finally faster trains and teh VB speed is nothing to really brag as superfast. It seems faster because of minimal stops and priority to line access in favor of other trains so u reach ur destination a little faster.

Shear pressure by Modi on IR administration to bring about improvements made them bring this up I guess. Need leaders like that who won't accept anything less. To continuously improve to a new level not just cosmetic type.

@@sridharsm366 - You Hit the Nail on the head "CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT". One you improve infrastructure, improve hygiene, add amenities and comfort the new businesses will embrace the idea and get towards a progression for the good. Yes, Modi does have good non compromising ambitions and finally we have an uneducated (no offense meant here) person that has clear leadership ideas than the MBAs.

Hi guys.. while in Mysuru, do try to visit some of the Tiger reserve forests around that area. It's the best season for animal sightings. I think you might enjoy the experience of a natural forest even if there are no animal sightings.
Bandipur, Kabini and Nagarhole are some of the ones that I know of. They usually have two daily rides into the forest (around 5am to 9am and 2pm to 5pm). Government booking websites will give you a ballpark figure of the costs involved. If government tours are sold out, ask some of the locals for bookings, timings and options for stay. Prices vary from reasonable (shared bus or jeep) to quite expensive (jungle lodge stay and private jeep)/ per person. Do note that jungle tours in Karnataka are some of the most expensive compared to other forests in India.
