In the UK, an economy off-peak train ticket from London to Wales (3 hour's journey) with a young person card would cost £40-50 and no food or even drink is provided free of cost on the train. So, compared with it, the price (Rs 3000 = ~£30) you are paying to travel by train from Goa to Mumbai (10-hour journey), which also includes 2-3 meals, is not that expensive. In the UK, you may have to pay, nowadays, £30 for a meal in a decent Indian restaurant.

As you probably figured over 90% of Indian railway system is on Electric. And by 2025 the first Bullet Train will be operational between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. So this is a great time to visit India to see generational transformation happening within a democratic framework.

@dunnytravels This vande Bharat MAO to CSMT runs slow during the monsoon time. All trains are rescheduled during the 4 months of monsoon ( July to October ) as there are chances of heavy rains, loss of visibility, landslides etc. But the actual train timetable for rest of year is pretty short. Vande bharat timetable is scheduled in such a way that it travels to its destination in 7-8 hours.. if you had came to Goa in November you would have witnessed the shorter timetable.
