I wanted this to be 30 minutes but I guess it wasn't to be. This feud did a whole lot for Chris Jericho. He was stuck in the midcard after returning and it gave him a much needed character change, a character change that was fresh and brought him championship gold again. For Shawn Michaels, it's another iconic feud. For Y2J, it made him one of the very best in WWE. What did you think of this feud?
Chris Jericho lost battle at Unforgiven but lost the War that night when he won the World Heavyweight Championship.
After the awesome feud. Jericho the hottest heel gets fed to Batista absolutely disgraceful.
One of the most talked about feuds to this day.

The feud that technically started in the final days of the Ruthless Agression Era and ended in the early days of the PG Era. This feud is legendary.

HBK Vs Y2J II (2008):it gets a lot personal yet one of the most greatest rivalries of all time
this and Edge vs Undertaker Feud and The rise of Jeff Hardy chasing the WWE since beginning of 08 to finally reaching the top at the end of 08 made 2008 one of the best years!
John cena returning from his 07 injury to royal rumble and chasing the gold around the same time as jeff started only difference was cena won his a ppv early but 08 was really good but in my opinion 09 was much better
Here we go! The feud that gave both of these men some of their all time best matches and promos of their respective careers in my opinion. It was definitely one of 2008’s highlights. So much nostalgia with this feud.😊

When Chris had busted Shawn's head open at the Great American Bash in 2008, WWE was forced to changed their ratings from TV-14 to PG.
Jericho in 2008 was the biggest heel at that time. I remember he clocked Shawn’s wife at Summerslam and got major heat the next night on raw.

I loved this feud so much. This is perhaps one of the last great feuds of the Ruthless Aggression era. Jericho's transition into being a heel was quite compelling and I just loved the depth in the story. This IMO was the best feud of 2008.

2. Rey vs Jericho was good but not great
3. Edge vs cena is was in 2006
4. Edge vs hardy again was good not great
5. Taker vs hbk not a feud it was 2 great wrestlemania matches
6. Punk vs cena could have been great but Vince botched the summer of punk by having him come back too early
7. Majority of that rivalry sucked. It was a crappy movie with a great ending I remember

I will never forget jericho clotheslining the guy holding the torch to h3ll on his return night
Shawn Michaels' return in 2007 brought out a more personal side to him which was felt in the Ric Flair rivalry onwards
The first show I ever attended was No Mercy '08. I had just turned 12, but I still remember that ladder match like it was yesterday. Absolutely iconic feud in every sense of the word.
In 2008, we had two extended feuds, Undertaker Vs Edge on Smackdown was tremendous mainly for the match quality but I would say that Chris Jericho Vs Shawn Michaels on Raw was the better feud in terms of storytelling and it felt much more personal than their 2003 feud.
I would say that the evolution of Chris Jericho during this time was amazing, he went from being the smiling, happy go lucky longhaired rocker to a downright evil villain with short hair wearing dark suits who wanted to not only eclipse his boyhood hero but destroy him to show everyone that HBK was nothing more than a liar.
These guys were the last holdouts of the old school style of extended feuds and living proof that long form storytelling can still work in modern day wrestling

Imo Y2J was always Shawn's greatest rival as they're both on the same level in terms of both technicality and work rate. What began in 2003 as a healthy competition turned into a twisted obsession is 2008 with both men willing to sacrifice everything to get back at each other. Now, that's some amazing long-term storytelling right there.

This feud and more from '07-11 make me regret discontinuing watching wrestling in '07. I stopped watching because it got too predictable for me, but seeing this feud would've made me not want to miss an episode each week.
I think that’s the year most people stopped watching. There was a lot of good stuff still but the overall product wasn’t the same. Raw going 3 hours was the final nail in the coffin for me.
Chris Jericho is the most versatile performer in WWE history. He’s a 10 in every aspect of the business.

One of the reasons I love 2008. When Jericho won the World Title at Unforgiven, I didn't mind Chris Jericho(as a heel) being World Champion. Even as a kid it feels right!

Jericho punching Shawn’s wife is one of my all time favorite moments the fact that he actually decked her makes it even better. This was the last perfect wrestling feud.
Just watched the whole feed all the segments and the matches. And holy fuck those promos are incredible. Great American beatdown and unforgiven were fun beatdowns. The ladder match at no mercy is a classic. But my favorite moments were the summerslam segment, jericho throwing hbk throw the jeritron and the contact signing for unforgiven

Not that 2003 was bad but the 2008 sequel far exceeded it. Ended up being one of the feuds of the decade and to think it was initially meant to be a one and done at a small pay per view
2003 was great but 2008 was on a different level
The thing which interests me most is that the feud started because of Shawn ending flair's career, batista got his kind of revenge and then it was about hypocrisy vs Shawn's bit altruism. In the end it made Jericho a bigger heel and was ground breaking ceremony for Jericho's legacy which he now destroys on weekly basis on AEW dynamite.

Shawn was in his 40s, Jericho was like 37 at the time and they had the greatest feud in the last 15-20 years. This feud was like the end of the TV 14 era. Suit wearing Jericho is still the best version.

Yeah to this day, I never fully understood why they involved Chris Jericho to get into Shawn and Batista business like that. I mean I get that they were pushing him to go heel but I wish they would have found a better way to do it.
Chris Jericho was the IC champion, he should have had better things to do. Him and Umaga would have had a decent rivalry. They could have came up with a decent storyline and at One Night Stand, Umaga could have won the International Championship and Y2J took it out on HBK the next night or something. I know Umaga was helping Vince McMahon around that time but that's my point. He could have did that with Umaga and not interfering with two high class performers.
