- I bought this automatic trash can from costco. After using it for a year, it started to drain the battery too fast. In this video i am explaining how to convert this automatic trash can to work on AC power.

I came across this video when I just wanted to find out if I can replace the lid from the manufacturer because the battery leakage caused damage to mine. I never thought about converting it to AC power. It is just a marvelous idea! Thanks for the video. Sure I do not need to order a lid now, and no more batteries!! Two thumbs up!

I’ve never tackled anything like this before but I’m willing to try. I was soooo frustrated by the short life of my expensive batteries and by the guilt of adding them to the landfill.

u can also use rechargeable batteries like I do
Guilt? Don't put them in the landfill, put them into a recycle program. They are everywhere.

Additional tip: Tie a knot at the end of the wire so it's on the inner side of that hole. In case you accidentally tug it, it's not gonna rip out the soldered wires :)

When u put the lid back on the can what do u do with the adapter wire ??? It will interfere with a solid fit due to the wire?????
You can run the wire through the small gap behind the lid.
Someone did this like 4 or 5 years ago and posted on CZcams.
Can you use a 12v ? Does it matter ? I’m just asking I’m trying to do this to my trash can but I got 12v adapters
