10 Foods to Avoid to Get the Flat Belly You've Dreamed Of

  • We all want to have a flat stomach, but even with intensive workouts and dieting belly fat remains the most difficult kind to get rid of. The secret that will help you drop some pounds is avoiding certain foods.
You most likely know it already, but it won’t hurt going over it again: avoid junk food, fried foods, and ice cream. The more you get, the more you want to satisfy your ever-growing craving. If you’re seriously set on getting rid of belly fat, you really do have to kick the habit of drinking pop and store-bought juices. Even diet soda slows down your metabolism and makes your body store more fat. Speaking of drinks, you’ll also have to say no to alcohol. Some alcoholic beverages are loaded with calories, but it’s not just about the caloric content in certain drinks. Alcohol consumption itself increases your appetite and confuses the part of your brain that’s responsible for that full feeling in your stomach.
Along with sugar, salt should also be limited to small amounts, especially if you suffer from high blood pressure. Remember that one tablespoon of mayonnaise has about 100 calories.
Another food to avoid is chewing gum. When you chew gum, your brain and stomach get signals that prepare them for an incoming meal. This means that gum triggers the overproduction of stomach acid, which ends up making you feel hungry.

    SUMMARY
-Alcohol consumption itself makes you feel hungry, so no matter how full you are, when you go for a bottle of beer, you usually grab a snack too.
-If you’re seriously set on getting rid of belly fat, you really do have to kick the habit of drinking pop and store-bought juices.
-Gum triggers the overproduction of stomach acid, which ends up making you feel hungry, especially for sugary stuff.
-Not only are high-sodium foods harmful to your health, they also make your body retain fluids, resulting in a puffy belly.
-Junk food is a scary mix of fat, sugar, and chemical additives that give it a great taste negatively affect the good bacteria in your gut, and that leads to obesity.
-If you’re a big fan of mayonnaise, then you should know that this condiment contains at least 80% fat.
-Foods fried in oil work like a sponge that absorbs saturated fats that trick your brain and so you just keep shoving food in your mouth without even noticing it.
-The more ice cream you get, the more you want to satisfy your ever-growing craving.
-Dairy, apples, lentils, beans, and artichokes all cause bloating which gives bulging bellies to even the skinniest people.
-Artificial sweeteners in “diet” foods might have no calories in them, but they will make you want to eat more, which only leads to gaining excess weight.

YES THANK YOU! Too many people feel like not eating garbage is impossible and like you'll turn anorexic if you try to be healthy in any way. Being healthy doesn't mean starving yourself but using common sense and BALANCE. Too many people are too lazy to be open minded to moderation. I think a lot of people don't know the difference between being a normal healthy person vs being a health nut who adds supplements and does extreme diets for extreme results.

10 years ago, when I hit 305 pounds, I got serious about diet. First thing I noticed was that artificial sweeteners didn't affect weight at all--positive or negative. So I used plain sugar, but just about one teaspoon per glass or bowl of cereal. Losing the chemicals got me off of the plateau. Now I'm down to 2 light meals per day, and I weigh 180.

I disagree about gum. It has been my saving grace over the past year. Chewing on gum instead of food has worked fantastically for me. It has never led me to any cravings and has kept my mouth happy. Honestly, you wanna lose weight. Try intermittent fasting (8/16 routine). I lost 24 pounds this summer in ten weeks. It sounds hard, but after three weeks, your body gets used to it and you lose your desire to eat from boredom or stress.

Healthy life ~I always get up to sunshine! ...and I like coffee too much but have just started my new way of life and I take lots of vitamins ..I don't drink or drug. However take meds for seizure activity in my brain at night. I tend to like to go back to sleep and I love taking naps when I can! I get up so early... I love to sleep, however when I have something fun and active to do...sleep can wait! This is coming from a woman that is a homemaker and mom. Haven't been under any stress,. Just depression with bad weather. I'm 52..but I feel about 43. That's a fair number. When I was 47 I felt 32. I concentrate on high protein and veggies! No carbs but if I eat any it's in the morning from now on. I am NOT a bread lover. Thank you!!

Dairy WAS the hardest for me. but after doing my doctorate (I got a PhD in Early Modern British History at King's College, University of Aberdeen, Scotland/2012) I weighed nearly 260 lbs from stress and adrenal fatigue! I was so upset and unhappy. By cutting out all sugar and doing a modified paleo diet, I've lost 99 lbs! I'd like to lose another 20 lbs which would make me 141 on my 5'8" medium size frame. Not too shabby for a 54 year old woman. If you care to see the difference. I have made videos back in 2009 and some from last year which really show the difference. It's made me feel so much better and very happy!
If I can do it, you can do it too! God Bless you all!

Wanna know the golden equation for eating healthy food?
Stay away as much from food/products that involves man-hands. Anything you find in nature and a human-friendly for consumption then go for it.
Basically, before buying anything from the grocery, ask this question “can I find this in nature?” Yes, then buy it, no then stay away.

Sprinkling salt, a little, on your food is NOT the culprit. Nor is using salt in your own home cooking! It is the salt in processed foods and the salt in restaurant and fast foods. IF you stop eating out, at all, for a month or so and avoid processed foods with any kind of sodium, then go into a restaurant, the food will be so salty that you can barely eat it, or maybe not be able to eat it at all. This is what happens to me at Olive Garden (the worst offender), KFC, and so on. Another TIP: use popcorn salt as your table salt. It is much more finely ground and spread better on food. You will find yourself using much less sprinkling salt this way.

Sometimes, the problem is not saying no. It might actually be due to their availability. They might be cheap, available and also many people eat them n we copy. What advice would you give if am in school and it serves mostly posho and beans for lunch and for a change rice and beef?

1,500 is a little low for sodium. Just like healthy sugars from carbs and fruit, our bodies need sodium to function, it’s an electrolyte. As long as you aren’t overdoing it and the foods you’re eating are healthy. Recommended sodium is actually 3,500. Don’t go over that though.

I agree with a lot of this but before anyone decides to start cutting foods out of their everyday "diet" they should def check w/their doctor. Apples are actually very good for you but just like with most other fruits they produce sugar. It is natural sugar but not something a diabetic would need. Just b/c it makes you bloated for a bit doesn't mean you should stop eating your fruits & veggies lol. But still a good video to make people more aware. I know about a lot of this b/c 1. I had an eating disorder years ago & 2. at the age of 36 I had a massive heart attack and almost died. Everyone on my mothers side that has died, died of massive heart attacks or some type of heart related issue...so I went to my doctor after my heart attack & asked for help to start on a healthier lifestyle. Sorry for such a long post...lol

Whenever I feel like eating burger pizza ice cream or any favourite food I eat a chewing gum. I always keep different flavours with me. I know it's sugary but it helps me to avoid unwanted meals.

This stuff is okay in moderation....it’s OKAY to have this stuff once in awhile! As long as you’re not eating it continuously! Also, calories aren’t a good thing to go by because most of the time, they’re not even right! Calories are just the unit of measurement of the energy food gives us. The machine they use to measure this hasn’t changed since the 60s, so they’re is a 30% chance of error! I was recently in an Eating Disorder treatment facility for a few months, and they actually wanted us to eat this stuff! We had to have candy bars for snacks, we had to have a certain amount of carbs, fats, proteins, dairy, fruit and veggies eaten by the end of the day: and if we didn’t, we were forced to drink a boost! And if you didn’t do that, you were put on bedrest and got the feeding tube put in you! Videos like this aren’t helpful because it is teaching people to be afraid of food. Everything is okay in moderation! Variety is key! Please check with your doctor about any diets you want to try. Most diets out there are fads! Avoiding foods is not the answer, having a variety is. Please try to lose weight in a healthy way!

I don't think this video makes people scared of food. It is just saying to avoid drinking soda, alcohol, eating junk, etc. most of the time. In other words, eat whole, unprocessed foods. Make your food at home. That's what I do every day and I eat 2,300 cals a day. I'm never hungry and I don't get sweets cravings very often. I use dark chocolate to curb my chocolate cravings because dark chocolate is good for you and has minimal added sugars. I also eat smoothie bowls and fruit, so that also prevents me from craving sweets.
With that said, I still go out to eat once a week, but I just don't do it all the time. I get bloated and stomach achy from eating out, so I like to avoid that discomfort.

Well you sound like an anorexia patient. They were obviously trying to make you gain weight not lose it. Not eating will hurt you too. You have to eat but most people eat too much and more than half of Americans are overweight and one third are obese. Im overweight too and if I watch my calories I lose weight so the calorie thing is close to being accurate.
