    Love your vids man. Great content. Got a question brother. I'm still a novice at saltwater fishing but one question I have is, is it wrong to put conventional reels on surf rods? And is it stupid to use those surf rods on a pier?? Thank in advance.

      Thank you Kevin I appreciate it! Not at all. You'll find me using conventional reels on a 12' rod on the end of a pier. You can see the setup I use in the "Drum Capital" video. Tight lines!

    Lots chase and eat them down here in sc. Around the Santee and Cooper rivers. Especially near the dams. Tail races. Many score the fish in both directions and bake at a high temp.
    I have pickled pickerel before. Very good and the bones dissolve completely. Most recipes take 1-2 weeks.

      That's awesome thanks for sharing! I'd love to try pickled fish never have before. That would be fun to do. Have any recipes you enjoy and don't mind sharing? Thanks!

    Ok,,, now you really have me curious! As I've told you,, I've eaten the mullet (Popeyes's, hard head, jumping) before,, but not the roe. I heard many rant and rave about the roe, but still, I haven't tried it! I haven't heard so much about the shad roe, so if you think the shad roe wasn't bad,, the mullet roe must be really good!
    When I get some,, you and I are going to get together to do a similar video catch clean and cook!
    Great to finally meet you! Sorry I bailed out so soon. I want to see the video of the hammerhead though,,, maybe in a "short"!

    Scaler from cheffing it up .
    You should try bleeding your fish before putting them on ice you should make a simple brine, Salt and water, to brine your Roe in for at least three hours. This will draw out any of that fishy tasting blood. I brine my fish overnight also for the same reason.

    • @CarolinaShoreFishing
      @CarolinaShoreFishing  Před rokem

      Great benefits from doing that - I'm just never fully prepared haha and when I do set up a brine...you guessed it..I don't catch anything to put in it 😂 That's a good guess! I was hinting at Hiroyuki Terada's channel. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Fishing 🎣

      @@CarolinaShoreFishing good news is. There is no need to " set up" a brine ahead of time. You simply make it when you're finished cleaning your fish.
