  • This is from rainbow trout farmed in Ireland. The eggs are a little smaller than salmon eggs but most people wouldn't know the difference.
    Tasted side by side, we thought this trout roe has a slightly lighter taste. Also, the eggs are more pristine.
    A simple winner every time: a dollop of crème fraîche on a blini then a spoonful of trout caviar on top.

    I have been trout fishing for 35+ years and never ate any of the eggs. I have gotten egg juice on my lips and it was not a very favorable taste.?
