- Hello friends! This is the follow up to my shad fishing adventure. In this video, we will be cooking the delicious fish that we caught at the Bonneville Dam. I'll be doing two things here. First I will be baking the shad in a foil package with some onions and mushrooms. Then I will be frying up the shad roe with some bacon and onions.
After that, we leave everything up to the taste test. Is it worth it to eat shad? What about the shad roe? Is it tasty enough to go through all the trouble?
Also a quick shout out to my sister Jennifer for helping me cook everything and participate in the taste test =)

Hello friends! Would you try eating baked shad? What about the shad roe?
I found you looking for videos on cooking Shad Roe. Good job!
Hey, thanks a bunch! I hope you enjoyed the video and got to make something tasty =)
Ide definitely try it!
You should! It was definitely a bit out of my comfort zone but its something I'm eager to try again =)
Great tip with the rolled aluminum foil pouch! Definitely with you on deboning before cooking again - I’ve found that I can really only skip that step with very large fish with correspondingly large bones.
Hey thank you! And yeah, lessons learned haha. I'll keep that in mind the next time I try to cook fish
I'm down to try! That roe sack was crazy huge!
Right?! I was not expecting that at all
sorry friend we don't eat shad, we use then to catch game fish!!!
Haha fair enough. If you have any recommends for good game fishing in the Pacific Northwest, let me know!
What about 250 degrees for six hours?
All for the awkward kitchen dances lol. Dunno that I'd try the roe, but #promove with using the rendered fat from bacon to fry in.
The roe was interesting to say the least lol. And I always keep the rendered fat. Never let anything go to waste!
