Is it worth it to try eating baked shad or fried shad roe?

  • Hello friends! This is the follow up to my shad fishing adventure. In this video, we will be cooking the delicious fish that we caught at the Bonneville Dam. I'll be doing two things here. First I will be baking the shad in a foil package with some onions and mushrooms. Then I will be frying up the shad roe with some bacon and onions.
After that, we leave everything up to the taste test. Is it worth it to eat shad? What about the shad roe? Is it tasty enough to go through all the trouble?
Also a quick shout out to my sister Jennifer for helping me cook everything and participate in the taste test =)

Great tip with the rolled aluminum foil pouch! Definitely with you on deboning before cooking again - I’ve found that I can really only skip that step with very large fish with correspondingly large bones.

Hey thank you! And yeah, lessons learned haha. I'll keep that in mind the next time I try to cook fish

Haha fair enough. If you have any recommends for good game fishing in the Pacific Northwest, let me know!

What about 250 degrees for six hours?

All for the awkward kitchen dances lol. Dunno that I'd try the roe, but #promove with using the rendered fat from bacon to fry in.

The roe was interesting to say the least lol. And I always keep the rendered fat. Never let anything go to waste!
