#warhammer #chaos #spacemarine - Zábava
I still have no idea how you get that kind of precision with an airbrush. It's incredible.
Very fine needle and like a billion hours of practice :D
Try getting used to it by doing terrain. That's what I did. You just get some wall plaster, foam, and cheap ass paint and just start fiddling around making some desert cliffs or snowy hills, etc. Push up details and you'll get used to it. And you're not messing up models.
And you can "practice on models" by adding busted or used miniatures or cheap figurines and cutting them up and adding to debris (made out of leftover sprues, etc) to have buried corpses. You can try out techniques on the body parts and get used to detailing.
Trigger control and responsive AB Trigger...DON'T USE HARDER AND STEENBECK they are base coat only, their trigger response is awful and no pro fine art painter uses them with much success.
I know I was going to say. Man uses it with laser guidance system!
I realised we never really explored speed painting applied to heroes and monsters!!! On that kind of models we usually look for a higher density of details and quality of rendering, still without sacrificing too much extra time, so... let's start exploring some options 😉
You should get a few hero forge minis and speed paint them.
You could print the same model multiple times and demonstrate different techniques and end results
Do you think it would work with thinning down a less transparent enamel to avoid that more candy look?
Maybe I am mistaken, but the pace of the narration and scenes seems a little slower than normal to me. And I have to say, I really like it! I would love you to keep this pace up in the upcoming videos.
Marco! you have inspired me to take my painting up a notch! Keep up the great content!
Marco I don't think anyone else in this community gives us as much information as you! I have a request can you make a video about how to make a black and white nmm sketch by brush? It would help me for my next project which is a black templar
Thank you man! Super appreciated! Uuuuh that's an interesting topic, NMM in grisaille... Now it's officially in the to do list!
@MarcoFrisoniNJM thank you marco!
This is gorgeous. Too long process for me / for an entire army... but this is freakin' gorgeous.
Thanks! Oh yeah, as I point out this is a method good for heroes and monsters where you want that bit of extra quality but without painting for days ;)
Another stunning piece of work, Marco. On your recommendation I ordered a copy of the Falcinelli book (in English). I see what you mean about it giving plenty of food for thought for anyone interested in art and design in the wider sense. Thank you so much for introducing me to this rich trove of social and cultural information that invests the world of colour and our understanding of it with so much more meaning and so many more shades of reference. A keeper for my art library, for sure.
This has to be the my favorite Daemon Prince I've seen painted ever.
Totally love the end result and the style you painted this mini with.
Your content is absolutely the best on youtube for minaiture painting.
😊😁😊😘
I see him put paint down, but i don't understand how turns out as it does. Amazing
You are a painting wizzard, absoluteley stunning mate. What Airbrush with what Nozzle do you use? The Precision is incredible!
Thanks a million! in the first part I'm using my usual 0.2 on an Iwata HP-BH, while in the final smoothing phase I was testing (I got it around Christmas and I'm still trying to understand it!) a new one, an Iwata Micron with a 0.18 nozzle
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM thanks buddy!
Is there a better feeling than seeing some paints you already own in a Marco video?
Reusing some paints from prior tutos is a blessing to my wallet, thanks Marco! xD
That looks like an amazing video! I'm definitely going to check it out, the classic speed painting method looks so much better than before.
Ohhh, this looks nice!
Those two dolts at Poorhammer said nice things about you, Marco, so I came to visit. I'm not disappointed.
🤩😁🤩 Love the Poorhammer crew! Thank you sooooooo much and welcome on board 😊😘😊
purple as a foundation/prime really does wonder for the red, it really gets richer compared to when you use a white/light gray priming.
you have a really good eye for colors and you really make the models "come to life", if i could get half as good it would be a win i my book. so thanks for the tutorials and the help to get there.
Fun to see your take on the "Spanish style" of painting!
This is absolutely fantastic. You've gotta be one of the best people doing this my man! Great work
Ay Marco!!! I just did one of my Saurus warriors in black with some color theory and hooooly man!!! The Black looks so much more real, can't wait to paint with you someday!!! I have a dark forest Seraphon Army I want to make someday.
😁😍😁
Tbh I think Your CZcams Channel should be banned. Every time i try to find some inspiration on CZcams your Channel pops up and makes me want REPAINT EVERYTHING I PAINTED TO MACH YOUR VIDEOS. ITS FRUSTRATING!!! great video as always btw XD
🤣😅🤣😘
This model started its life as grey plastic. Now it’s a masterpiece
🤩😍🤩😘😘😘
This is ridiculusly perfect!!!
😁🤩😁🤩😁
I recommend your channel all the time. Good results, cheap, and quick. My models really pop and impress. I tell people I'm not particularly talented, just have a good channel I follow.
Mate If only I knew how to use oils
The best painter on youtube, your the bomb Marco!
😁🤩😁😋
Wow, great video and an awesome result! 😍😍😍
Thank you very much for this guide! It is really awesome!! I think I will try the recipe for the skin on my Angron Model :3 I noticed one tiny thing in the tutorial. You didn't mention which color you applied on the skulls, before using the oil on the model. Can you tell us that belatedly, please? :)
It's a pleasure!!! For the skulls I used the same mixture of the armour, with more of the light tones and less black 😉
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Thank you very much!!!
Hay Marco
Thanks to your videos I have a large variety of paints, looking at getting some heavy body acrylics now as the work you do with them looks amazing.
Would liquitex heavy body acrylics be an okay place to start?
Hi! Thanks a million to you man 😊 Oh yeah absolutely, Liquitex paints are great and the bulk of my collection of heavy body acrylics!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM sorry full body or gouache acrylic?
Great stuff. Question, for oils you use hair or synthetic brush?
Thanks!!! I tend to use synthetic for washes and large blends (so I can be brutal with them!) and natural hair for finer work. Oils are not aggressive on brushes by themselves (maybe a bit if used in their thickest consistency, but just because of their weight and the physical resistance they apply to the bristles) and it's more the thinner and improper cleaning of the brushes that damages them ;)
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM thanks, need to grab some for your Adepticon class. So excited to try them.and add to the toolbox. Thanks for your approach and explanation of everything. Love the videos.
Love this! Thank you Marco! Any chance of a NJM's take on Hexbane's Hunters?🙂
Uuuuh I have the box and I need them as Forbidden Psalm band/part of a Mordheim Witch Hunters crew so it's just a matter of time ;)
At around 3:30 you mention you "start the chromatic climb more or less from the middle, with a value that's slightly darker than a proper midtone". What did you mean by 'darker than a proper midtone'?
Nice question! The choice of a mid tone is totally arbitrary and based on what's the planned highest light and lowest shadow, so in general as standardised "proper" mid tone I mean a colour that is in the average middle of that planned full value scale and with a tone that's in the middle of that spiral/climbing of hues
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Makes sense; thanks for the reply!
phenomenal.
Amazing as always, Marco!
This is brilliant as always. I’m not sure if I missed it but wondering how long this speed paint took ?
Thanks man! Yeah it's a very end of the video; it took me a little less than six hours! As a rule of thumb, to balance the rendering level of heroes and smaller monsters I give myself the time of a speed painted ten men squad
I always love your work marco
You should totally go find that first Daemon and paint it now!
Another amazing video, and another instance of "I want to try that out."
The part at the end with you blowing raspberries into your microphone was very unexpected, that said, I do the exact same thing when I'm painting LOL.
Im a simple person, I see a Marco video, I hit like like button and post the comment "Im a simple person, I see a Marco video, I hit like like button and post the comment "Im a simple person, I see a Marco video, I hit like like button and post the comment ""help! Im stuck in a loop!!!""
You are the GOAT!! :)))
🐐 😂😂😂
Ciao Marco, lavoro stupendo come sempre!
Wow, great job.
Tell me a lot you talk about colour theory. Do you have any good books that explain the subject in simple terms? I only own 'Colour and Light' by Gurney James but I think it's too difficult for me. :D
Thanks!!! Check my previous video 😉 it's all about this kind of books 😉
Brilliant work
Such a nice video. Thank you so much for the content, Marco!
One question: are the paints you used for the skin transparent or a fully opaque layer?
Thanks a million!!! Really good question! The first layer with the brush was with transparent/semitransparent paints to bridge the finish of the airbrush with the brushed one then I switched to full opacity to build up the lighter layers 😊
Hello, do you dilute Molotow paints? I heard that they are very durable and it's a big pain to clean airbrush after this paint, so before use I've tried to remove it from my plastic palette with regular Vallejo Airbrush cleaner, but it was really tough, so I a bit afraid of it XD.
I use them straight form the bottle! The trick is to not let them dry in the airbrush (and that's true for any kind of paint!). They are quite fluid so you have all the time to do the job and empty the airbrush without the need to scrub anything 😉
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Thank you for answer!
23:18 Do you mean the metal daemon prince that was on the front cover of the CSM codex about 20 years ago? That sculpt is my favorite of all the daemon princes. Would love to see you tackle that one too!
Precisely that one!!! 😁
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Please please please paint that model on stream :) It would be so fun to see you paint some older minis and how you tackle metal and their worse details.
Crazy skills
Ciao,
You are my guru!!! Thanks a milion!
😁😊😁😘😘😘
Great Video Marco. I am about to dive into oils and your videos have given me all the tools and the confidence to give it a try. thank you
Ciao Marco!
Ciao!!! 😁😊😁
Piazzo il like perché, pur dovendolo ancora vedere, sarà sicuramente una figata pazzesca!!! 🤩🤩🤩🔥🔥🔥
😁😊😁😘😘😘
I just bought a daemon prince so I can't wait to try to your approach on it :-D Ty marco.
Having re-watched most of your video's recently, I noticed that the voice-over was significantly slower in this one (and the last couple before this one too I think). I am curious, did you get feedback that you talked too fast?
wow. what a video. holy hell
Beautiful work again, I'd love to see your take on Ghazkull!
When you layer on the highlights with sketchy brushstrokes, how thin do your make your paint?
Beautiful inspiring paint job as ever, thank you Marco! Could you make a video of the equally wonderful base please?
It´s magic!!
Im a big fan👌🍻👍
One question.
When i do my oil washes. I often think the result is Looking grainy. How do you mix your wash. Why you think this is? Your look perfect.
Thanks!
as always, great video :) tell me please, what camera do you use? it feels like it's right in front of your eyes :) it would be interesting to know exactly how and what kind of camera you have installed, thanks :)
hai mai pensato di fare video in italiano ?
This is why I like speed painting. Because I'm in full time education at college, I don't get much time to paint. However, using contrast and speed paints has really helped me stay in the hobby. I can't wait to see what army painters new 2.0 line of speed paints have to offer, and from what I've seen so far, the reactivation issue is now fixed. Awesome video as always👍
How did you achieve the stone tones on the base? Looks fantastic
One thing I learned in artclass was to never put acrylics on top of oils do to the cure time and long term stability. Ive seen you just wipe down some areas and then move on to put acrylics on top, there must still be some residue or film in those areas. Wouldnt that cause issues?
That's true for thicker layers of paint but with these small, quick drying quantities (and especially after the pass with white spirit) there are no issues
Excellent work as always Marco. Could you possibly do a sort of "update" video on your experience with other Artist Grade Heavy Body Acrylics? You seem to have gone through a majority of the major brands and I'm curious to know what your opinions are of each specifically for mini painting.
9:35 - And if you think making an exercise of following the steps in your new videos is just an excuse to go buy new toys; Well... You are probably right.
Me looking at all the steps and the final result "How is this speed painting Marco, this looks so detailed and took you so much ti..."
Marco: "5 to 6 hours"
*spitting coffee*
Theres never a bad excuse to splurge on some Schminke!
Can you please make explanation video? What does modulation mean? What does chromatic climb means? Why and how do you choose colors for underpainting? I feel like its really important part and yet i still dont understand it even after watching your color theory videos
Probably a silly question, but. Why not to make a skin purely in oils?
Would also love to see more oils in painting process, might be some extra highlights or whatsoever.
keep it real man!
How feasible is it to do a true metallic value sketch in acrylics and then go in with a thinned enamel paint as a filter layer, and how would you go about doing so? I know this is not relevant to this video but there is something about the terrible oldhammer paint jobs that has always stuck with me in terms of how spacemarine armor would actually look, I think that the actual finish would be some kind of an enamel or a lacquer.
It's absolutely doable and a great way to render a multi layered metallic materials with an "automotive", industrial/manufactured feel. I made something vaguely similar with a red candy finish in an older video about Blood Angels!
Dominate the Paint!
awesome stuff Marco, yet another lesson in trying stuff out and getting those base tones fixed
Would be great to see you paint that old daemon prince some time...
Lovely video! Did you get a new airbrush in the end?
This is insanely good. It is super apparent you have studied oil paints, the way you go from dark to light. i would be very interested to see the deeply impractical method of going light to dark, like you have to do with watercolors. It would be hell, but maybe fun? Lol.
Incredible - what you turn that left arm into from a mostly blank canvas is stunning!
Hi Marco, when you used the golden high flows to unify your detail work you did so with colours with a pretty high natural transparency. Did you add anything to them to increase transparency further, or was it just a light touch on your airbrush?
Likewise did you add anything to counter the superglossiness (that I've been fighting ever since I fell in love with grown up pigments in ink form ;0)
I do use varnish to unify my paint finishes at the end but high flows are so glossy as to affect my workflow)
Thanks man, you're an inspiration
I've had some success adding a little ultramatte varnish to the high flows to counter the gloss finish.
@Jaimie Whiteside yep I've been adding a bit of the ak ultramatte as the most extreme stuff I know, matt medium is totally overwhelmed and the golden matt mediums are very gooey
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
MORE MARCO WOOOOOOO
Ciao Marco!! Is there any chance I can steal part of your painting skills with some kind of Gipsie magic? Asking for a friend ;) you’ll get it back when I’ll finish painting my armies, my friend I mean
Hi Marco, love your content. Is the armour on this meant to read as black, or non-metallic silver?
