- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart's story revolves around the idea of dimensional counterparts. Dr. Nefarious meets the Emperor whereas Ratchet & Clank meet Rivet & Kit.
Ratchet, for some time, has been curious about the prospect of visiting other Lombaxes. As for Rivet (another Lombax Ratchet meets aka his dimensional ''counterpart'') seems more eager and willing to visit the Lombaxes.
The story Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart concludes with an open ending. Just what is this ''Pit Stop'' Ratchet is referring to? No one really knows where the series stands after Rift Apart. What we do know is that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has topped sales charts and has received quite the warm reception.

This is a re-upload as you may have noticed. The original upload was stuck on ‘’checking restrictions’’ loop for over 20 hours, played around CZcams’s Editor and technical bugs happened. To sort this issue out, I had to delete the video and re-upload it sadly. For those who had commented and watched the video before, thank you so much! While at it, since I had to re-upload, there was a part in the video I really wasn’t happy with. It was me asking a question about whether or not Clank would want to join Ratchet finding the Lombaxes. In-game dialogue on Ardolis pretty much answered this question, so that point just felt like rambling on my part.

I like the poetic irony of the fact that both Rivet and Clank only have one robotic arm for most of the game. Almost like they're connected despite being from different dimensions.
The part where Ratchet brings up making a "Pit Stop", I don't know why. But I instantly thought that meant the Lombax dimension, rather than getting Clank fixed up. Which, not only do the credits confirm, but it would be the more logical thing to do before doing anything else.
Not to mention Ratchet & Rivet practically just met, so I can see there being no real hurry in finding the other lombaxes for that reason. But I can definitely see that being a plot point for the next game, given the circumstances with the Dimensionator turning out differently than in past games.
It's got somethin' to do with how Ratchet changed his views cause of the traumatic experiences he went through, when he learned it wasn't worth takin' that chance when he already had his family with Clank and Talwyn, and in A Crack In Time when he saw what happened when you let obsession overtake you like it did with Alister. When he was growin' up on Veldin that's somethin' he would of wanted to do cause that was his goal to escape his planet and explore the universe, and his time spent street hustlin' let him develop a detect for danger.

I lowkey feel like this game is a prelude to a bigger story like Tools of Destruction was.

It also feels like a tech demo at certain points. The rift tether mechanic is super cool, but in the end, it was just used as a convenient method of transportation. It wasn't used in actual platforming that much outside of pocket dimensions. I really hope we get a more broad and expanded adventure in a future title, basically just take the gameplay aspects of Rift Apart and expand on them further.

When it comes to characters and storytelling for Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, and Jak & Daxter, there are a lot of things I would want to do with their stories and directions:
Sly Cooper:
After bringing Sly out of Egypt in Sly 5, reboot Sly with the Soon-To-Be-Released TV Show as it retells Sly’s Origins and a Reboot Game that would have the R&C Future Saga Treatment and it would take place after Sly 5 that way we can make character arcs
Ratchet & Clank:
It’s good for for right now with its story and remake even though there are other characters from the OG Trilogy and Future Saga that need to be expanded including Rivet.
Jak & Daxter:
Restart the trilogy so we can undo the plot holes including the “Jak is Mar plothole and Jak’s Origins and we can still expand each of the side characters backstories.

I think you might have already seen my comment, but I'll repeat the general jist of it: What do the characters seek from the Lombax Dimension? Ratchet his family (or The truth about what happened), Clank & Kit for information about the lombaxes and Rivet because she is eager to. And Rivet claims she had never seen another Lombax before Ratchet. This last part is a statement of the 'Angela paradox'
A) Ratchet & Rivet both didn't acknowledge that Angela was a Lombax (might be due to her lack of tail and Rivet spent a long time in Zordoom with Angela so she could've asked her what she is)
B) Angela Cross from Ratchet's dimension is not the same Angela that escaped with Rivet. Might be a dimensional counterpart or a different creature named Angela.
C)Angela isn't a Lombax.

You know, if Ratchet, Clank, Rivet and Kit goes to the lombax dimension in the next game, I kinda hope we get to see Tachyon again.

I think the next game will be the 4 going to the Lombax Dimension. Clank's arm could be fixed between games. I doubt Insomniac would introduce Rivet and Kit and not have them return in future games.
If they make a Rivet & Kit spinoff game, I'd be all for it. I loved Rivet. Her personality, design and story was amazing to see. The voice actress did an incredible job and I hope to see more of Rivet in this franchise. This is by far my favorite R&C game. It felt like a culmination of EVERY R&C game, like a huge anniversary title. 10/10 all the way! 💯

@@VtnVivi I'm all for it. I like both of them. Kit's like Clank but she can become huge normally. Clank needed thar machine to grow big but hasn't since Up Your Arsenal (but that was for a Secret Agent Clank in-game movie) for some reason. And Rivet was the best. Her voice actress did a remarkable job and I wanna see these characters continue just like Ratchet & Clank

I don't think that ratchet and rivet are both counterparts I think they're just both lombaxes that were separated from the lombaxes before they went to their new dimension
Female lombaxes in Ratchet's dimension don't have tails (at least in Angela's case, and it's been said many times and is basically canon), and Rivet has a raccoon-like tail, which doesn't really make sense if female lombaxes in Ratchet's dimension don't have tails
I understand why you doubt them heading to the Lombax Dimension after that ending cause the term “pit stop” sounds too simple for something they should be finding to begin with, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what they end up doing in the next game, the ending implies that term very directly meaning we could potentially be seeing a new trilogy. :)

I can see several more games happening in the series. Heck even if the next game is about Ratchet and the others going to the Lombax dimension, I can see it having an ending that is both satisfying and allows IG to keep making R&C games for the current timeline.
I'd would so love a prequel for example :O Imagine Alister and Kaden game.
@@VtnVivi Exactly. I personally can see IG making a ITN length prequel game where we play as Kaden living through several key moments in his life like him meeting Azimuth, him fighting the Cragmites, and the day Tachyon attacked to name a few.
I also like the idea that someone narrates the game from time to time and in a twist its revealed at the end to be either Kaden and/or Ratchet's mom who is still alive or Talwyn was reading Ratchet Kaden's recently discovered journal.
There is one thing about the plot I do not understand. And it feels to be one of the core character arks:
What is the deal with Kit?
Her background and... "problem"... is very vague. She said she was built by Emperor to be on his side. Yet Emperor almost never mentioned her. So it seems like she wasn't really noteworthy individual in his arsenal and wasn't really part of any of his plans.
Then she acts as if she doesn't want to serve him, yet she's somehow compelled to. But... it's not really clear what is forcing her, if anything.
At first it looks like her Hulk form is like Hulk - big, angry, uncontrollable. Yet she takes control rather easily. And she even fights in this form against the Emperor. Two times. And the before the second time, she just stops being uncontrollable without explanation. Like it was never a problem. How come Emperor couldn't control her? And why he didn't even try? And how come that she just decided to be fully in control and that was it? Was it just so easy?
I would personally add some more scenes with Emperor trying to control her and succeeding. And with her and the rest of the gang managing to break this influence somehow. Or at least see Kit somehow struggle with it.
Without that, her being like: "Well, I guess I have no urges to kill my allies now," that just kind of voids her predicament that was supposed to be dramatic.
It's like if Hulk decided to not be angry, to be intelligent, and not to ever cause any commotion again. All that just because he was told some moral lesson about standing besides his friends. That lesson is all good and all, but the problem shouldn't just evaporate like that. It doesn't feel earned. Or it feels like the problem never really existed to begin with. Which removes the meaning from all of their previous interactions.
I definitely see what you mean! If we compare Clank with Kit, we KNOW Clank grew to become more and more human the more he followed Ratchet. It appears Kit somehow realized that being a warbot is BAD....It's like she grew a conscience on her own and further deepened it by becoming Gary's apprentice.

The only Ratchet and Clank games i have played where Tools of Destruction and the 2016 remake i never finsihed them but i enjoyed them
so Rift Apart is the first Ratchet game i have finished and i absolutey loved it
its an amazing Playstation 5 tech showcase and a fun game in general i cant wait to see what comes next for the series and
now i really want a spin of game with Rivet and Kit

I was wondering where the video went since when I checked my liked videos section it said deleted video. Well its up now, now I could just rewrite what a section what I said in the original plus more.
In the lorbs Mags talks about the lombaxes is scattered across many dimensions (what Mags says would be: our race is scattered across so many dimensions) and that made me think of what dimension is ''The'' lombax dimension (aka the most populated one) and what other dimensions are the others at. It could be like a safety thing with spreading them across multiple since if something goes wrong there will be other dimensions to go to were other lombaxes are.
What if Ratchet, Rivet, Clank and Kit travels to a dimension using the map only to find the dimension abandoned by the lombaxes only to leave clues in their own language were/what dimension they traveled to. The lombaxes is such a intelligent species that I could see them doing everything to ensure their species safety.
The original video I took down due to technical issues, my bad for the confusion. And yeah, Ratchet and gang visiting the Lombaxes I'm expecting something they wouldn't have imagined.
I really did enjoy the game Vi, this is the very best since ACIT and better even imo.
I enjoyed Ratchet overcoming his inner struggle of meeting the Lombaxs, talking about Kaden, his interaction with kit and the other dimensional versions of the characters we know.
Rivet really is a fleshed out character, I liked her overcoming her dislike of robots and her and kit becoming friends in the end, Empower nefarious was a really interesting antagonist and his writing was top notch, I could take him seriously and neft definitely did brought in the laughs!
I really enjoyed this from beginning to end, oh, And Clank figuring out how to fix the dimensions was awesome too, it gave me ACIT vibes with Clank taping into his potential, definitely looking forward to the sequel to this gem.
The futures looking Bright for the series, this has everything both og fans and new comers will both like.

I'm curious what ever did happen to those other characters like Helga and the other obscured characters are nowadays and still have genderbent counterparts of their own especially Angela If she still alive?
I have a feeling they'll bring back some of those characters in later games. Rift Apart was really just a way to establish R&C for the new audience. As for Angela....

About the ending and their destination... I find it weird that they didn't fix Clank's arm during the whole duration of the game. Did they really not have an opportunity to do it ever? In Ratchet games ever since the first one, you have been upgrading your weapons or even Clank. The modifications on him seemed way more sophisticated than just re-attaching arm. Why wouldn't they just do it on the way while going to the place where Ratchet was supposedly heading all the time? The Lombax dimension?
The only problem with this Lombax dimension is that now we have Rivet. Her Lombaxes also vanished. But those were different Lombaxes than the ones that vanished from Ratchet's dimension. So... if Ratchet decides to go after Lombaxes with Rivet... after which ones he's after?
But yeah, the Lombax dimension doesn't sound like a pit stop.
Pit stop sounds more like... a date.
Speaking of which... doesn't Ratchet already have enough girlfriends? Sure it's gonna get pretty awkward very soon.
Clank did say he started to like his new look, we can't forget.
I legit thought at first when I heard "pitstop", it meant there would be some kind of racing game spinoff like Mariokart or something XD. They definitely stuck to the core game with this one and did it well as a stand alone game. That way if it didn't do well (I can't think why) they could leave it for a while.
They were definitely being more conservative with this one since it was 12 years since the previous proper new entry to the series. The target audience for this game probably wasn't even born when ACiT came out lol (now I feel old). Insomniac have learned their lesson when it comes to experimental spinoffs (for now).
Then when sanity returned my second thought for "pitstop" was Zurkies. I also kept thinking why they didn't repair Clanks arm, it one of the first things Ratchet did at the end of the original (although the parts were still there I guess).
I had the same thought about the alternate Lombaxes, where did the alternate Lombaxes go? Are there even any "alternate" Lombaxes at all? This all gets very confusing.
Regarding his girlfriends, I imagined a future scene to bring Angela back while meeting Rivet and Talwyn at the same time. It would go something like Angela telling Ratchet she was trying to get in contact with him during the ToD timeline (due to Tachyon), then Talwyn gets annoyed since he told her he never saw another Lombax and gets suspicious, make it into a funny ex standoff scene (and try to explain the Angela situation) where Ratchet slowly tries to creep away or something like that.
Will you make videos of Rift Apart characters like Kit and Rivet just like with what you did with main characters like Quark or Nefarious?

I had this really funny glitch during the final boss fight where I made the Emperor chase me into a corner of crushed debris where he would get immobilized.
This was during the last section after Kit showed up. This was funny because I could literally get a free victory against him, and it was CONSISTENT 😂 I kept restarting the checkpoint yet the glitch persisted.

I hope in the next game we get space travel, races, gadgets, and more planets . Rift apart was a good game but I feel like it was short and lacked a lot of the things a lot of other ratchet games had. I really hope they go back to the spacey techno music and stop the orchestra pieces.
Rift Apart feels like a nice introductory game on next-gen. Establish our characters for a new audience and continue forward! Space travel should definitely come back!

I'll watch this later. But man playing Psychonauts 2 now and have a smile on my face even for the tutorial showing past game abilities and not playes the first game or the VR one but heard of them. Ratchet just didn't give me that feeling, but the Useless Podcast guys did and not picked up Rift Apart since I got to Blizar because to me while its a fine game the story is pretty standard and Insomniac took away the fun parts I liked and the guns/everything else is either standard or bland. Even the Rifts as optional areas weren't that fun even for how challenging of platforming they can be.
One thing IG needs to bring back in the next one: SPACE TRAVEL! Rift Apart took use of the PS5's SSD, imagine space travel!
@@VtnVivi Completely agree always enjoyed the ship sections in 2 & Crack In Time not so much Tools compared to Starfox or other vehicle combat/travel in games. I'm not expecting No Man's Sky big but if Crack In Time could do space level select environments and the time travel concept for two levels don't see why not they were great parts of that game and would make sense for the hardware. That or more optional puzzles as the Clank sections were good but way too far apart for me to enjoy the two I did. I'm fine with them using the Ratchet core but not focusing on it too much and felt used up of potential by the halfway mark or for Ratchet pacing at least I was expecting more but it just keeps rolling with them.

The general theory is that Ratchet was around 15 years in the first game, and that time in the games runs parallel to our time. The series began in 2002. This would mean 15 + 19 (2002-2021), which would make Ratchet around 33-34 years old. He could be a bit younger but still somewhere in his early 30s.
I'd say nearing his 30s.

@@VtnVivi My oppinion is , A Crack in Time has the better story , but Tools of Destruction has the better planets and weapons .
Fingers crossed that some mobile game company makes an Android/IOS Ratchet and Clank game based on Rift Apart just like Before the Nexus with Rivet and Kit as the main characters. The only difference is that the player should be able to complete certain sections rather than just an endless run. In other words, there should be a story mode. Some of the levels should be locations in Rift Apart and alternate dimension of locations that weren't in the console game. Power up wise, I'd say one of them being a Kit power up where Kit transforms into Kolossal Kit(my name for Kit's giant form) and the player is invincible and can fire Kit's weapons. Another gadget should be the Topiary Sprinkler, when used all enemies on the field will be topiaried. In terms of plot, Emperor Nefarious is developing a new type of superweapon in order to crush the resistance and it's up to Rivet and Kit to travel to different locations to find out about this devastating superweapon and put a stop to it. And the RYNO 8 should be in this mobile variation as well and function the same way as it's console version. As for weapons, I say they should be upgraded the same way weapons upgrade in Ratchet and Clank games and if we receive omega weapons, the appearance of the weapon should be changed as well and it's effects upgraded.
After Rift Apart was released, I was thinking about a mobile game for it, although Before the Nexus got mixed reviews, I'd think it would be awesome for a mobile variation of Rift Apart.
As for Emperor Nefarious' fate, there could be a chance he's still alive. I mean he still has his telekinetic abilities and laser abilities, maybe at some point he used his powers to make Bubbles cough him out. Then again his powers must've been weaken if they were just on board weapons like Dr. Nefarious. But if Emperor Nefarious doesn't have the exact same equipment as his dimension's counterpart, then he'll have to wait until nature takes it course with Bubbles, that is if Insomniac decides to bring him back which I hope they do.
If I were to pick between a mobile game and a shorter game, I'd pick the shorter console game of Rivet & Kit.

I have a possible theory about rivet and ratchet view on captain quantum and captain Qwark. But mainly on rivet and quantum it could be possible that rivet might have a crush on quantum because ratchet use to be a fan of captain Qwark.

kind of disappointed the story dint go further than what was given but seeing how all the games nowadays are just battle-royale or mobile games I am happy we got Rift apart itself.
Rift apart as a whole feels like an introduction to the series for newcomers. Establish the characters and anticipate sequels moving forward.
Hey VV what would the female version of Crash be called definitely not named after the Crash 4 mod Crashette because I saw a sketch sheet of a gender bent Crash and it was really cute I think the female version of Crash would sort of be similar to tawna in a way where they have the exact same body type but that's if the female variant had a realistic body I'm talking about alternate version of Crash

In some ways, I get the feeling that IG is leaving the door open for Ratchet and Clank's replacements in the series, as the voice actors may be getting to the point of considering retiring. So Rift Apart may be a case of IG introducing all the replacements.
I doubt James Arnold (Ratchet) would retire anytime soon though.
Neither do I, but the end of the game at least feels like IG is leaving the door open on their options.

I do see sibling type of relationship between her and Ratchet.

@@VtnVivi honestly it still too early to say what there relationship is but comparing what we have so far to sibling relationships in other media and and my own personal experience with my siblings i don't see it with those two
