I’m guessing if the gang, Ratchet, Clank, Talwyn, Rivet, Kit and probably Qwark go to the lombax dimension and find Max and Angela it would most likely come as a surprise to them since they didn't really know he was there.
And what you said about them going to the lombax dimension and it maybe not being what they was expecting. Maybe when they arrived the lombaxes are enslaved by none other than Tachyon who could have escaped his ‘’dimensional prison’’ during the events of Rift Apart.
My biggest fear is that they just don't include Talwyn, Max, or Angela in the next game as to not confuse newcomers
Nah, at this point, Rift Apart was great enough to bring in the new fans, it would be greater if Sony and IG remastered the future saga, so everyone can catch up.

There's definitely that struggle. They could use flashbacks in some fashion. Qwark for example talked about how R&C met during the Festival of Heroes.
@@VtnViviI could see Qwark using his iconic crayon drawing skills to quickly recap to Rivet and Kit (and the audience) the events surrounding his (and the other heroes) previous experiences with the Dimesionator like why it was built, how the heroes found it, and the times it was used for evil and good.
It would also be a good way to introduce new fans to Emperor Tachyon, as I really think he should also return in the next game as the main antagonist.

I believe Rivet & Kit deserve their own game(s). Maybe Ratchet & Clank can cameo. We could learn more about Rivet. We don't really get a lot of backstory about her aside from Kit is the one who blew off her arm in the past. Or I wouldn't mind a Rivet solo game, playing her as a rebel and any events she was involved in before the events of Rift Apart. The end of the game could be her seeing the Dimensions go crazy and the final scene could be her seeing Clank appear before dropping down behind him. That'd be nice, no?
Totally! DLC potential there. Also maybe have some history for Kit herself like how CiT did for Clank? I wanna see Kit's story as a war bot under nefarious! We just accepted clank as a funny and at times cute robot than can become a giant. Apparently was a "series designed to destroy" stated back in GC (rac 2). Kit actually Shows what she is!
A Rivet and Kit game, is a common and frequent thing I hear nowadays. Should we consider such game a prequel or a spin-off? A very interesting future discussion!

@@VtnVivi better Prequel getting in both their boots, in their perspectives before RA. Spinoff is in the sense of After rift apart, which is more obvious and natural. We definitely wanna see Rivit's and Kit's history more! We just got spoon fed.
@@VtnVivi A Rivet and Kit game I feel like it would be like Quest For Booty, a smaller game to bridge the gap between the two bigger titles.
Best ending for the series would be if Ratchet and Clank save and unite all the lombaxes, and Talwyn joins them and finds her dad. She lost Cronk and Zephyr already, so if Ratchet and Clank left her that would suck. Then they could bring all the Lombaxes back to their original dimension, and Talywn with her dad. They could also finally bring Angela back too.
Just bring back Cronk and Zephyr. That would certainly make ME happy.
Now that you reminded me of Max Apogee I can't help but keep my expectations high for the next game. Stage is all set for it to have the most impactful lore in the series, it's all up to IG now
If you return to the prison level, Rivet will make a refrance to Angela which is a nod to the fans.

If I were insomniac, I would put in talwyn's level so she'll be a part of the adventure. She could translate lombax language as a mini game in my opinion.
That sounds cool. Good idea. If Skid can be your hacker character on Aquatos before you get the gadget why not Talwyn for a purpose like Lombax language stuff for dialogue or doing doors or other paths in the levels (playable or not).
I think ( own opinion here ) the next game will be of them heading to the lombax dimension and a villain having control of the lombaxes. The lombaxes would be enslaved as they wouldn't be able to defend themselves or escape (remember the dimensionator and it's guardian were left behind in the old dimension, probably most of their weapons and ammunition if you remember anphilion was on autopilot Fighting tachion). Ratchet and rivit will most likely have to free the lombaxes. A 3rd game ( released 10 years from now probably ) will possibly have talwin
What If this villain is a Lombax himself? Maybe he sees the lombaxes as superior species considering they invented the dimensionater
I also came to the same conclusion and since the events of Rift Apart resulted in things being teleported to other dimensions, this would be a great excuse to have Percival Tachyon be the main villain of the next game.
I could see Talwyn going with Ratchet and co. to the Lombax Dimension, not only cause her father could be there but she has knowledge of Lombax culture that Ratchet and Rivet (mostly Rivet in this case) don't know about.
Man, Talwyn needs to return in the next R&C game soon. We also don’t know what she’s been doing during the events of Rift Apart.

The meteoric rise in popularity of the Rivchet ship is proof enough of it.
Rivchet would be selfcest. Fans might like this ship but I don't think Ratchet would date his own dimensional counterpart or even make mutual babies with Riv.
I wonder about that though. is rivet really ratchet counterpart?Because if we're going by the past ratchet and Clank games, she would be a different lombax. But for some reason she ends up with a similar path to ratchet being a hero with sidekick robot. So I find that confusing.
The Lorbs I feel opened a can of worms... The whole Lombaxes being spread-out in different dimensions...So, is Rivet really a counterpart? Or...

For one, we have the ambiguity of their status as counterparts because of the lorbs and the logistics of lombaxes having counterparts. And I'm certain that, as Insomniac wants Rivet and Kit to be their own characters, they'll end up ignoring the whole "counterpart" concept in the future. Wasn't that the entire point of Rift Apart? To introduce a brand new duo to bring new life to the series?
Otherwise, outside "selfcest," you really can't argue against the immense potential between Ratchet and Rivet as partners, far outshadowing any of his flames.
@@maphyx ain't gonna happen whether you like it or not. It's confirmed that Rivet is Ratchet from another dimension. It was mentioned multiple times in the game and by insomniac games themselves. This ship is basically doomed from very the begining since they are dimensional counterparts.
In addition, please never forget that Talwyn is still a thing and she is in relationship with Ratchet for heck knows how many years (yeap, she is still Ratchet's girlfriend). Also Sam Maggs tweeted that Rivet is canonically a lesbian which means she will never fall in love with Ratchet who's obviously not a girl
When it comes to Ratchet’s relationships, there are two camps of fans:
Fans that care and fans that don’t.
Fans that don’t care will just shrug off anything the game or other people say to them and move on with their lives. If you are one of these people, I wish you a happy and safe journey.
To the fans that DO care about Ratchet’s relationships, I hope you brought some fire retardant because you are about to walk into a possible flame war and I’m carrying a Pyrocitor (just in case.)
That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

It’s true it’s never stated in games that Ratchet and Talwyn are together. Because 1) that’s not the focus of the Ratchet and Clank titles, and 2) it’s in EVERYONE’S BEST INTEREST (the writers, the developers, and fans alike) to keep things as open ended as possible. This frees up the characters for future stories by not having them tied down to any one thing or person.
Why did Ratchet mention Talwyn on Savali? Because he knows that she is CRAZY about Lombax artifacts and ancient technology. She is because her father *is*. And Ratchet knows she would have loved to have seen the dimensional outpost and listened to the Lorbs. Which is another reason he brought her there after the events of the game, and I’m hoping it will lead to her finally finding her father. Does Ratchet still care for Talwyn? Of course he does because Ratchet cares for everyone, including people like Qwark and even Nefarious.
Final conclusion: Who Ratchet settles with in the future is up to each individual fan’s imaginations. Not a single writer, not a person on Twitter, but the individual. More power to ya.

I’ve always really liked Talwyn’s storyline and feel like it’d be a huge missed opportunity if she doesn’t get to be in the next game. I try to remain optimistic though because I genuinely like Ratchet & Tal’s relationship 😅😭

Talwyn, Max Apogee, and that Angela might be with Max Apogee. It'd be really nice if this stuff finally got explored! Maybe a game dealing with Artemis Zogg's story? Ehh idk
I really hope and wish to see her again find her father
Honestly couldn't care less about what happens to Talwyn in the future. Her presence in the series has always felt minimal and served no purpose other than being the "hard to get girl" for Ratchet in Tools, and an even more boring "love interest" for Ratchet later on considering how flat and lackluster their interactions are. I really don't get what fans see in her, and I also don't care about the side-plot with her dad.
On the other hand, Rivet seems to have way more potential as a partner (not strictly in a romantic sense, but at least as an equal teammate who could always back him besides Clank) due to their fighting styles and common background. Their exchanges were really cute, too, even though they were scarce. I can only hope that we have more to look forward to for future interactions between the two lombaxes.
A solution could be to make Talwyn part of the group for the next game. She has knowledge about Lombax culture, can read their language and she can fight. She could also bond with Rivet and Kit.
@@JH24821 Sure, you could do that, but if you look at how little time there was in Rift Apart to develop the relationships between the characters there, how could they possibly give Talwyn any purpose at all with that?
I'd rather see the next game focus on the two duos interacting and getting to know each other more on their own, and including Talwyn really seems like an awkward 5th wheel to me.
Insomniac made Rift Apart to appeal to newcomers, and we overestimate how much the average player really cares about researching the story and characters from previous games. That means that if they were to include her in the next game, there'd be so much confusion when I'm certain that majority of new R&C fans from RA will be expecting Ratchet, Clank, Rivet, and Kit, not Ratchet, Clank, Rivet, Kit, and...Talwyn?
What I'd love to see is Rivet and Kit bonding. We didn't see a lot of that really and I think there's great potential there.

I typically take on the role of the pacifist, but you pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to how Talwyn was handled. At this point though, I do want her to find her father just because it was a plot point that never got resolved/had a purpose in Tools of Destruction, and that always bothered me.
They do mention in the Lorbs that the Lombaxes were scattered across the dimensions. That could be a good setup for the next game. Instead of planet hopping, you're traveling to different dimensions to find the scattered Lombaxes. This could also open up a possibility of finding Max Apogee along the way. Perhaps he got stuck in another dimension in his search for the dimensionator.
You know, I’ve been thinking. Everyone is talking about how they are disappointed Talwyn wasn’t in the game. Well at the very least she got a name drop.
You know who really NEEDED a name drop? Whose very EXISTENCE is tied to, is known for, and who absolutely DESERVED a NAME DROP?

A song at the Zurkie's jukebox has his name on it, hinting that the Lawrence in Rivet's universe became a musician which is likely a reference to a scene of him from R&C: Up Your Arsenal.
There are several lose ends, that IG has to tie up, before the series hits the end.
Especially with Talwyn finding Max.
And yeah, my guess is that she was too busy to attend, galactic work lol

first of all, maybe TJ fixman confirmed that relationship in the past. but don´t forget he is retired now and R&C is in charge with a new writter, and also in the game Ratchet and Rivet showed feelings for the other and another thing who explains the possibility of the ratchet and Rivet relationship is the fact of some important developers gave their support to Ratchet x Rivet arts. and honeslty in my opinion Ratchet and Rivet deserves to be a couple because they have a great potential together and also rivet is much more better than talwyn and the fact which explain that is Rivet nominated by the game awards as the best character of the year something that only Rivet has achieved, because not even talwyn has achieved that and honestly she has been more like a heavy burden in ratchet's life than someone who has favored him
and the last thing to finish, Rift apart is a game aimed at new people who want to get into the world of R&C and what they have done with scenes like:
* "wow another lombax"
*"Rivet: hey Ratchet im Rivet, nice to meet you, mmmm.....
Clank: what are you doing...are you nervous about meeting Ratchet?
Rivet: Whaaat? yeah a little"
* Clank: I thinkRivet was nervous because you're the first lombax she has ever met....
Ratchet: really? wow I hope I met her expectations
Clank: Don't worry, I think you did it."
and other scenes in the game are telling to the new people that Ratchet and Rivet have feelings for each other and staying together in the next game, their feelings will grow up
I feel like the developers would probably go for it as it could be use to better market the game bringing in more sales
As for the whole Ratchet and Rivet it feels more like Rivet is more interested in Ratchet because how she is around him where as Ratchet just seems friendly
I'm saying this right now when I saw rivets face (are you nervous? Yeah a little) I was like bro that is a dreamy face for someone if I've ever seen one. But I think she has more feelings for ratchet than he does her but still I ship them(can't wait to have a gun pointed at my head for that)
Since we're talking extra dialogue, I wonder if Tal's dad for separated from Angela while traveling. I mean, Rivet did have a voice line saying she was in the same prison as her.

Talwyn should definitely make a full return in the next R&C game (as I'm still surprised IG didn't do it in RA) as not only is she a good character with tons of potential but it would be nice and VERY FITTING to see them finally end the subplot about her and father while she and others are in the Lombax Dimension.

What I think would see in the next Ratchet & Clank game
- Of course it certain Rivet and Kit are returning, especially with
- Angela Cross returns after her unknown disappearance, she could be with Max
- Talwyn and Qwark join Ratchet and Clank on thw next jouney, which is finding the Lombaxes
- Talwyn could finally find and reunite with her long lost father, Max
- A counterpart male version of Talwyn. Unlike her, he's almost solo person, and he's a bounty hunter, the only thing share between them is their interest on the Lombaxes history (he's not from Rivet's universe/dimension, a very different one)
And of couse, the humor dynamic betweem the characters and newer planets to visit whether are simple, wild or very creative.
Funny thing I notice through series, that each part or saga of the story is focusing on one specific character:
The Original trilogy/saga: It’s all about Qwark where he wants to be more than just a hero (well not exactly the way of so called hero) but he redeemed himself after all the bad things he've done and to be the beloved hero of the galaxy and save his allies. (In Rift Apart, Ratchet mentioned about Qwark to Quantum)
The Future Saga: It’s all about Clank and his past, but in the end he leaves the Great Clock to stay with Ratchet (even though they explore about Ratchet origin and the Lombaxes)
The current Saga (Multiverse Saga or Dimensional Saga maybe): I think this might be about Ratchet's arc. (it doesn't mean that his end has come)
And one more thing:
I think the next game will have a big main villain, and mean by big is a threat to everyone, terrifying, and powerful and throw this whole storytelling saga into new direction and territories, like once he opened his mouth, you get goosebumbs and scared of him. I can only imagine his first lines of his introduction.
Villain: "You're a Lombax…Have I killed you before?"

Yeah, since the recent blog from Insomniac for the 20th anniversary. They actually mentioned Talwyn as part of major characters they introduced in the series. So there some hopeful with that. Qwark being very minimal in Rift Apart I think it's because with Jim Ward not only he's retired, but also his illness. I know some people are harsh about Rift Apart, but I loved it so much, people should consider as a beginning of a new chapter/saga. Similar to the first game and Tools of Destruction. And also because it developed on a new generation system. So the next game could be a very potential the best game of the series.
I'm not sure do you agree with the villain situation that I mentioned?

Look, the moment I saw the thumbnail I had to say this: Vtnvivi, you are treading on some thin ice. Also Rivet and Kit sticking around is a no brainer mainly because I feel that Insomniac wants to develop them more especially since Rivet and Ratchet had very little interaction. And to be honest I find Talwyn to be less interesting overtime
When Talwyn is brought up it can lead to some pretty intense debates. It didn't have to be this way if Insomniac actually cared about their earlier characters and made things clear.

What if ratchet finds his people only to discover them in the middle of a civil war, his people are fighting each other because of what happened with tachyon and Alistair from ratchet & clank: a clank in time, one side could be using technology while the other side is abandoning technology!
I'd imagine at least one among the Lombaxes being corrupt.

Given the way that Ratchet and Rivet interacted with each other in Rift Apart I think she 'could' end up being Ratchet's love interest (also hoping to see Clank and Kit interact more), as before actually playing the game I was expecting the two to have a brother/sister vibe. Talwyn's a great character but since we've never really seen her and Ratchet act even remotely like a couple, I think the two are just friends at this point.
Rivet & Ratchet's introduction scene is an interesting one! I want to discuss it eventually :)

@@sanjaycurry2995 That is actually VERY accurate and interesting. Why were Rivet and Kit the only gender swapped ones?
Although I will say there were several more female pirates in Rivet’s dimension, though I chalk that up to Captain Quantum wanting to be more inclusive (or he just wanted to subconsciously hang out with women. He is Qwark’s counterpart, after all.)

Obviously, because they aren't true counterparts. They are, but only in the sense that they fullfill the same role in their respective universes. The different genders aren't the only giveaway, the Lorbs on Savali make it pretty clear that Lombaxes are not a dimensional species ( They all come from one dimension and spread out, travelling across different dimensions ) so, how could Rivet be Ratchet? She can't, they ARE different people.
If Talwyn gets involved again, just give her some closure.
Still not forgetting about her, but since Rivet appears, will IG done the same thing as Angela they did? Funny is that IG may have jokes around sometimes

I wonder if they'll do a ratchet and clank next generation in the future, what do you guys think?
I think so far after Spiderman 2 and Wolverine. Hopefully they tweak a few things and also don't keep milking future saga too much as it's getting a bit messy I think. Nexus they did a better job after the 2 experimental titles but reboot/rift apart they made a mess going back trying to appeal to both audiences.
Balancing old and new can be tricky.
Besides DMC5 sold well regardless of debooting back and had a fine summary video recounting events from games that were important before playing 5).
I think the series is better rebooting again but not with the characterisation and Veldin and all that, if they 'really' want to commit to newcomers than the balance of both and it not making enough sense to newcomers I assume if they really took it seriously when most is stuff players that understand Future saga era story, characters, props and gameplay elements too heavy from Tools (skill tree, levels altered, buzz blades again every game since, dimensionator again, among others)/cherry picked from Crack (boots, different approach to rifts) are familiar with. I'd newcomers aren't getting a PS3 to play them and they aren't putting them on PS+ like they did PSNOW then the least they could do is an events recap.
I am fine with the future saga as much as original series era stuff ended I'm used to it but I think they need to think harder not have references and potential like the apogee/Angela stuff there as references and commit to them as they are engaging points to go with I think.
There is iconic characters and making seem with the stories they want to tell and voice actors available and all that or in universe/assets available to make a game around.
They should've really brought her back if that's his current girlfriend, overtime I leaned more towards Angela as the best love interest for Ratchet and wished they'd have done more with her character, because to me every character in Going Commando was the best developed with the best chemistry amongst eachother so I settled on Angela as the best one, but with these change of directions she could really only exist in the PS2 canon which is the most consistent one, if they bring Talwyn back then that would be great as well.

There was even cut beta dialogue from the girl infobot robot from going commando(or in up your arsenal) saying about Angela actually being a great potential love interest to Ratchet! Angela has so much potential! Left me Very unsatisfied seeing a Fem Lombax there and gone. She too can be of help! Who knows, be as good as being a lombax as Ratchet and now Rivet. Hell, even Alister had dialogue about what is agreed as Angela's mother.
I think the reason that IG didn't brought was same reason as Laurence. Even the emperor's secetary's design is completely different compared with Laurence. I can sense that IG intentionally minmized characters for newcomers.
I also hope we also see Angela again as well.

Just something i thought was really weird about Talwyn's absence in the intro to Rift Apart is how, if she's still Ratchet's girlfriend, why wasn't she there to at least comfort him? We see Ratchet is really nervous during his first few seconds on screen, and it's likely, at least considering any sort of backstory leading up to the Festival of Heroes, that Ratchet would have been stressing over this parade for days if not longer. Why wouldn't Talwyn be there to support him?
And even then, she's the captain of the Polaris Defense Force. Corson V and Megalopolis are in Polaris, and being a huge celebration of the galaxy's greatest heroes, a terrorist threat was only too likely. However, Talwyn along with the authorities are nowhere to be seen at any point once Nefarious crashes the party. Even more mysterious however is how she never contacts Ratchet during any point in the game, when we know cross-dimensional communication is possible due to the engineer on Blizar Prime contacting Rivet and trying to explain what caused Blizar Prime in her dimension to get destroyed.
And then during the final battle in Ratchet's dimension again, we once again see an absence of Polaris authorities and Talwyn. Where was she, and where were her soldiers? It was only the Resistance members, the Goons-4-Less, and Pirates who fought in the final battle, and given the invasion had only just started, it's not likely the authorities were wiped out before the heroes' arrival.
The only time we see Talwyn at all is at the credits like you said. It almost seems as if she's more concerned with the dimensional map and Lombax ruins than her supposed boyfriend lol.
Personally, the way I see it, is Ratchet and Talwyn aren't technically a "thing" anymore, but they're still friends. Ratchet remembers the happier times he had with Talwyn and wishes, for a moment on Savali, that things could be like they used to be. When the four heroes prevent the Cataclysm and defeat Nefarious, Ratchet finds Talwyn and brings her to the Lombax ruins because he knows they'll be able to find her father at last.
Those are just my thoughts on it.

Like VTNVIVI said it was likely cause IG didn't want to confuse new fans by introducing too much, though I personally think they should have tried to introduce her along with some other important info like the history of the Dimensionator and why the Lombaxes moved to another dimension at the beginning of the game.
Also I don't think they broke up as that would just lead to trouble considering this would be the 3rd time they did this for a love interest of Ratchet, especially the longest one he has ever had and one that never got enough focus in the games.

I still think it would be a twist ending, if the Lombaxs became evil or bring back Tachyon and Zogg, the comics showed that he survived and since the comics are canon to the main games, a final battle between the Lombaxs and Cragmites would be epic!

I REALLY don't know why Insomniac is stating that rift apart should be a standalone title when we know for sure it's a sequel to into the nexus. We see the ending of the dimensionator being taken by Clank.
I felt honestly now TALWYN is turning to Angela. Just there for either an adventure, or be lucky to take part in a series , then not involved anymore. I remember Ratchet having potential interests, Angela, Sasha and (officially) Talwyn. And also basically because the devs say so..
Shot in the dark, maybe Rivet would be the next girl on a list? All this I am saying, the devs are changing things a lot. Not in a good way I feel. I mean why create when just being there for one story? And future story wise, not important? I REALLY miss Angela! And Sasha, and Talwyn seems to be joining the heartbreak hotel. Talwyn SHOULD have At Least take part in some cutscenes, not just end credit cameos.
Also I had a theory that the nefarious dimension, the dimension where rivet is and we go to, was THE dimension where we'd find more lombaxes or at least find trails of them. They can't have references that newcomers won't get and have their cake. It's a balance of fans and newcomers and don't want to disappoint either. Well just focus on newcomers with new universe elements, new story, not say one thing and do another. Us fans see the Tools/Crack gameplay, story elements and characters they aren't fooling us. How they made 2 experimental titles then Nexus and made it work but they make 1 reboot, make Sunset Overdrive, Spideman, Song of the Deep, VR games and maybe their mobile game (think that's everything and new and veteran staff that pay attention and the Buzz Blades in all entries back to Tools as the same blade/disk weapon outbeating the Combuster and Groovitron for repeats) and Rift Apart ended up like it did. I don't think they really understand the series very well and put whatever together it's a mess of ideas slapped together and it's sad. They need to look deeper at each of the games or start fresh than they did of picking elements the way it shows in Rift Apart.

A Crack in Time went a little over the ''status'' of Ratchet's parents. The Lorbs I feel causes a bit of confusion, especially with the whole counterpart thing. Is River REALLY Ratchet's counterpart? Was she a Lombax who never got the chance to join the others?

I feel Rivet IS counterpart of Ratchet. Both of them agreed upon it several times. And the other thing is a theory I see. Her tail. She HAS one. So as we know of dimension counterparts, this would mean we can assume the female lombaxes of her dimension have tails while males don't.
Also something I noticed in between lines. The dimensionator and the lore of the lombaxes on rivet's side of things are very different. Her race's dimensionator seems to be the same design as clank modified ratchet's. His dimension had the hat. Then clank made it into the D. Gun. But when Ratchet and Kit look up the archives, it had the design of Clark's new dimensionator already. And Mags from the lorbs diaries told that the dimensionator had to be cranked and pinpoint a coordinate and then view the dimension. Then he made it a hat. Really interesting when I realized. Thought I'd share it.

When Talwyn returns, I hope IG keeps Ali Hillis as her VA. Though Tara Strong is a good VA, she is very popular and busy (hence why IG had to replace her for Into the Nexus and why I think Talwyn was scrapped from appearing in Full Frontal Assault) so I rather they keep using someone who is easily available to voice characters like Mrs. Hillis who was able to voice characters in the 2016 reimagining, Rift Apart, and even IG's Spider-Man.

I know you are not that big into shipping but if Talwyn does appear in the next game, the writers shouldn't do that romance plot line where the relationship seems to be about over, only for the adventure to rekindle their relationship. That or worse, have the two break up off screen prior to the game so Ratchet could end up with someone else as that's just begging to restart a ship war plus they've (somewhat) done that twice already with Angela and Sasha. At this point we haven't seen any romance between them in over a decade so doing these things would just confuse new R&C fans while annoying/angering older ones, especially those who like shipping. Plus a game about the Lombax dimension should have more of the focus than a (lame) subplot like that.
Thats not to say they can't argue once in a while during the game as a subplot I'm sure everyone wants to see in the next game is Talwyn reuniting with her father, but what if thoughout the game Max Apogee continuously wants to go out and help the heroes while Talwyn wants him to be safe. Eventually after Max volunteers himself for a deadly mission, she lashes out at her father about putting himself in danger which eventually brings up how she felt about him "leaving her" and when Ratchet tries to calm her she thinks he is siding with Max. Course things work out between the 3 and everyone is great with one another.

Really they do an Angela on the radio thing in Rift Apart sigh I must have missed that detail. Talwyn, Angela, Sasha, other 1 off characters. Yeah I remember. I always find it weird though they introduced her, you think 'oh her father and her are relevant to the story of this saga' then they don't include her when the saga continues with Rift Apart and ends at Nexus. Why? Sigh. Sure she isn't in Crack in Time but still. Nothing wrong with the meet another Lombax in Rift Apart 'besides Angela' but it is odd. I didn't think they finished the purpose of her character yet. Sure we never see her father only mentioned and a photo/sketch but still. They really have messed up the story/character appearances/relevance over time.
I think Rivet can still work. Them meeting Talwyn and Rivet besides Ratchet. Getting closer to the Lombax realms. Close one logic or not for Ratchet of the Lombaxes are so good saving from the Cragmites. An alternate Ratchet in a mirror universe even than what we got of Rivet and her Nefarious. They have a lot of potential to work with with how they work as a team, meet, are an AI in game in battles, whatever the case.
Was an good character and ok AI to assist in battle (more memorable and helpful than the 2016 galactic ranger on Batalia) and to uncover things in 2 games and partly there for Nexus. She wasn't just there for the pirates only part of the series was she I thought it was more than that. Even if a voice actor situation can't have been that hard they did with Ratchet. They aren't going to have a Bayonetta 3 situation you'd hope.
Don't care whether relationship or not but for story/purpose it's a mess.
Other thoughts:
The community know the comics/games and characters better than Insomniac it seems. Some go 'put a reference in' but they also while referencing them also make us remember their purpose, question why they aren't there if not dead or trapped or something to justify why. Voice actors or otherwise reasons. If they can have the max and Angela thing why not explore that. Let us play as them/see a cutscene not a reference that adds something and they go 'but it wasn't supposed to' even though it does have potential to dive into it. It's not 'they we're in a tv show or in hospital or whatever' it's they are travelling in search of it. Do they not think that far ahead. If course hmfans will think about it and the potential in comics/games happening of events and I'd we want to see that content. Not just 'I wonder what they would think' we think 'where are they?' It isn't the Solana galaxy it's the Polaris, it isn't a new one with a new universe and new Ratchet origin. Sony can have 3 Spiderman movie eras why is multiple Ratchet eras a bad thing to make it clear it's a restart fresh if they want to. Veldin doesn't have to be his New York City it can be whatever.
Balancing both audiences of past and newcomers was the problem. Future saga sure was different but they didn't try that hard to be there for old audience and a 'llok at this stuff and the nostalgia' like Nintendo putting 2D Mario in Odyssey. We don't need it. The Iris computer in Tools of Destruction was fair enough I think even though original stuff not redone moments for the game and the computer is an information source I give it a pass. They did have the festival indeed so it is missed potential.
Qwark with Quantum makes senses but he also doesn't fit the series anymore. Deadlocked was dark and he was at the end. Future saga a few times, almost like a Sully from Uncharted there at times they needed an ally character for talking and adventuring with purpose. Which for story and pathfinding makes sense and on your own in others.
I don't know if they would have had a both main heroines meet either moment besides the comics I think (none ever do in the games) I think that would have been cool but oh well.
They can't say it's for newcomers but they put Future saga content in it. You want us to ignore it like Star Wars having prequels and connections but 'its for a new audience yes it may be but you can't tell us to go away either you either make no connection and end it with a new trilogy or had connections with assets, names and so on which they did and the newcomers don't get the future saga so either summarise it like DMC5 did or don't include them and start fresh or is starting fresh too hard apparently.
It's either a reboot sequel or DMC5 logic. Which I'd he is a celebrity he isn't reboot Ratchet is he no Rusty Pete no other characters or city names from that so who are they fooling here. Why have references only fans get if it isn't for them apparently. The double meaning. They can't have their cake and eat it too. Whether the dimensionator is in universe or they had the assets it has to make sense. Make a new storyline not Tools of Destruction again. If TJ Fixman can make a new storyline for future saga and did a fine job even with its issues but for what they had to work with it worked well enough, why are the new writers so lazy. They didn't have 10 months but the game gives off similar of thought put into it like reboot did. They didn't look hard enough at last entries then and what made them good and remixes the ideas to slap it together newcomers on the team or veterans. The point of finding a Lombax is Tools of Destruction storyline for the 2021+ era of Ratchet with a few differences so they take it's skill tree, it's elements and take levels from it (with a worse crystal hunt and minus the glider sure but the jetpack at crystals later was dumb) and make it worse/remixed with Crack in Time rifts expanded upon (fine ideas but not as great, done on PS3 HDD by the way no SSD PS5 needed), no moons, not as interesting crystal hunt or Kit level with the monks and expect me to be ok with the charge/jet whatever boots from Crack in Time also. Too much cake they want us to be ok with I'm sorry but no Insomniac I don't bite old fan or not it's nonsense. Your messaging in studio/marketing team has problems. You made another one to find Spiderman and keep making Ratchet games messier in certain areas.
The games are just becoming remixed ideas at this point and it's getting sadder and sadder honestly. They made a trilogy work enough, Nexus tied in well and Rift Apart they seemed to forget how to connect those details in some ways story and gameplay after 2016.
But thankfully they add room for the Buzz Blades for the 10th time they haven't left the series while the Combustor and Groovitron did, sigh. They can't think of another disk/blade gun apparently or someone on the team is very fond of it. XD

Honestly Talwyn returning is likely due to her having a reason to show up in a Rift Apart Sequel and also the cameo she got at epilogue section where Ratchet shows her the dimensional map, plus I definitely think Rivet and Kit are here to stay, they were teased on going to the Lombax Dimension with Ratchet and Clank so there's that.

Not gonna lie, I REALLY can’t stand Talwyn. She’s not my least favourite character, but I honestly find her overrated and a bit of a Mary Sue. I also can’t stand the fact that she and Ratchet are a canon couple because it just feels so forced and rushed. Also, Talwyn’s fan base does not help with ANY of this and just makes made her a character I didn’t care for to a character I couldn’t stand!

Years ago I used to think Sasha was the best fit for Ratchet, but after Rift Apart I’m heavily leaning towards Rivet. Not only is she written well but Ratchet and her have been shown to have great chemistry. And I’d be lying if their interactions aren’t downright adorable.

Ratchet's only girlfriend is Talwyn Apogee; this has been repeatedly confirmed by the developers, and not just by TJ Fixman.
In total, Insomniac Games has confirmed the relationship between Ratchet and Talwyn three times.
The first time was in 2012, during an interview for the 10th anniversary.. On that occasion, it was in fact T.J Fixman who confirmed it.
The second time was in 2017, during a live stream on youtube when some of Insomniac's developers played Crack in Time.
And the other time was in 2018 in the official artbook published by Insomniac.
Ratchet and Talwyn have not just one confirmation, but THREE official confirmations from the developers.

Also, the excuse that this confirmation is no longer valid because Fixman no longer works for Insomniac makes no sense. In fact, not only did some developers make it clear that Ratchet and Talwyn are 'boyfriend and girlfriend" in the 2017 livestream, but they decided to confirm it again in the artbook released later..
So even though there was no longer Fixman as the main writer, Insomniac still went on to say that Talwyn is Ratchet's girlfriend

RA already spells lots of doom on Talwyn when Skidd got counterpart and your girlfriend doesn't and I feel Rivet might steal Ratchet from Talwyn platonically without any romantic interactions by simply becoming the 3rd main protagonist. Keep in mind we have Kit as well for her own screentime. With all new characters I see Talwyn quickly lose chances for a significant role in future adventures or even her appearance.

I'm strongly opposed to shiping Ratchet and Rivet, because they are cosmicly related.

The ''shipping'' aspect in storytelling is not something I've ever really cared about. It all comes down to how a story is written.
They aren't true counterparts. They don't seem to really be sold on the idea that they're counterparts in the game. And when Ratchet says "Pretty sure you're me after all" it's mere speculation, not even he really knows or believes that Rivet is him. Not only that but the Lorbs of Savali reveal damning evidence, that they can't be the same person because Lombaxes do not have dimensional counterparts, they all originate from the same dimension and travelled across the different dimensions, so they can't be the same person on a cosmic level.
Even if they turn out to not be dimensional counterparts (though I think they are) it would be generally bad in a writing perspective to have Ratchet end his longest relationship in the series for someone who is TOO much like him, especially personality wise. I mean people in relationships can have similar interesting and quirks but since they are a lot alike it could get boring.

In ItN her existence is to give Ratchet a reason to stay instead of visiting the Lombaxes. I find that annoying since there is absolutely no reason to have Ratchet choose between her or the Lombaxes. She could’ve gone with him. A good girlfriend supports their man no matter what, especially the tough parts. This would’ve been a great opportunity to naturally develop their relationship and establish her character with the audience, but this was not elaborated on. This narrative is also now superseded by the narrative in Rift Apart. Ratchet (and Clank) deep down knew that what he had wasn’t enough, and he finally overcomes his fear and finally develop the confidence to visit the Lombaxes.
Nowadays, Tal’s only vaguely hovering around only because Insomniac says so outside of the game; she never really has a character arc or develops in any meaningful way by herself. To me, that’s not good enough for me to like a character and the ship. This is the perfect example of a forced relationship.
Not only do I find their few interactions cute, I generally like Rivet as a standalone character. She has her own background and goals, but also heroic and determined like Ratchet and are both likable as individuals. When the story does a good job in developing characters individually, it only makes me want to ship them more.
@@B1argB1arg I can understand your feelings but I think this happened to Talwyn because she was a "casualty" of producing the PS3 games. Apparently IG always had big plans for R&C during the PS3 era but they had trouble keeping up with them ever since TOD and had to change things which resulted in the games that came out during that time, which was likely even harder since they were releasing games annually (except A4O).
Now that IG has more resources thanks to being acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment and are taking their time in making their games, its the perfect chance for them to focus on Talwyn and develop her as a character and her relationship with Ratchet, instead of just having him be with Rivet just because it sounds easier to do.

Problem is, Talwyn has no reason to exist for herself. She’s really only there to be the girlfriend. Yeah, Fixman tried to give her a plotline for longevity, but it fell short and hasn’t had any development since 2007. Her subplot from Nexus, and Ratchet believing he should be content with what he’s already got, was a great way to cap off the Future series themes, as well as her role in the story. But it directly contradicts Ratchet’s choices in RA. Because he wasn’t content, Clank understood this, and he still has an unfulfilled goal to find the Lombaxes and find closure. This doesn’t reflect well on his and Talwyn’s relationship. Plus, I don’t see how the writers could reconcile these two plot threads now without it feeling forced, unnecessary and confusing/nonsensical. An even bigger problem is the amount of characters they’re now juggling. R&C and R&K, plus all the new characters in RA and, especially, the new characters (most likely Lombaxes) they’re going to meet when they get to the Lombax dimension. For the sake of time/energy maximization, she really should be dropped.
Also, I believe Insomniac has stated in the past that they don’t want Ratchet getting too attached to anyone besides Clank. Makes sense as this series is all about them, after all. I corroborate this idea. I really don’t want Ratchet’s story to end with him settling down with some girl. It would betray the concept of ‘Ratchet & Clank.’ This series is fun and wacky enough that a boring domestic ‘wife and a couple kids’ retirement scenario would feel completely off and, frankly, depressing. The core theme of R&C, particularly reinforced in RA, is: friendship. And Ratchet needs to realize his friends are all the family he needs. *Cuz no one is going to understand him better, make him happier, or accept him the way Clank does.*
Regarding Talwyn, I’m gonna be blunt here: Her staying potential, and her significance in this franchise, is blown out of proportion by her fans, and shippers. Get some perspective. There are better written, more interesting characters to focus on now. They deserve the spotlight. Talwyn’s a minor footnote in comparison and, I dare say, excess baggage. Otherwise, they would have included her in a more meaningful way in RA, which is basically a soft-reboot of the story after so many years (and 2016) passed since Nexus. She just doesn’t fit in anymore.
I could, and do, say that if the Dimensionator has room in the soft reboot, so does Talwyn. If the McGuffin of a finished arc is brought back to re-open the acr for the sake of multi-verse popularity, than the main character's GIRLFRIEND has plenty of room too. I mean, is Talwyn less important to the franchise than Rusty Pete of all people?

I mean, you admit that the actions of Rift Apart conflict with the Future Saga's messages and themes. Yet you're defending Rift Apart, acting like somehow it's inability to follow established lore is somehow a positive thing.

I don't know about talwyn being his girlfriend I think rivet and ratchet has more chemistry together and also talwyn looks to human like and that would be messed up on so many levels even if it's fictional

Yeah I remember her alright, she's a very bland forgettable attempt of a Love Internest for ratchet, barely did anything throughout the entire series and didn't even appear In Rift Apart.
Her only notable role was in the comics. Other than that she felt more like a "damsel in distress" character. She had a lot of potential but they just didn't know what to do. Now the momentum is kind of gone.
I ship Ratchet with Rivet or Sasha. I don't like Ratchet x Talwyn and I wouldn't care if Talwyn comes back again.

@Valeria Collao I agree, but I don't care with whom Talwyn end up being with, not even Quark. I only care about whom Ratchet would end up being with and that person Ratchet might end up being together is Rivet or Sasha, but we still don't know what happened to Sasha.
