Capsule wardrobe is a small collection of outfits with a sole purpose or maximizing the use of each item. A capsule wardrobe includes only the everyday essentials you have in your wardrobe.
It follows the quality over quantity approach and it’s supposed to reduce the dissatisfaction with your wardrobe even though you have a lot of items. Overall the capsule wardrobe is a minimalist approach to clothing and it does not include accessories.
Why could a capsule wardrobe be for you? If you’re going to go on a long trip or any trip at all, it’s good to have items that you can combine with one another because it gives you more options and you don’t have to haul heavy stuff with you. It’s also great for people who have a large closet and many items of clothing and they don’t know what to wear.
Benefits of a capsule wardrobe?
1. Each item your collection has a specific purpose.
2. Everything works with one another you bring down the cost per wear enormously.
3. You can now invest in higher quality garments that cost more because you buy fewer of them. It also means you stop settling for garments that are just okay
4. You learn how to utilize accessories to really change your look
5. Reduces the amount of space you need for your clothes.
How do you create a capsule wardrobe?
1. Choose a 3 month period.
2. Look at what you already have in your wardrobe that you will like to wear and that you think you can combine with other pieces.
3. Focus on what you already have because you know what it looks like, feels like, its shortcomings and its benefits.
Store all the other clothing away or donate to people in need. Force yourself to not wear anything outside of your capsule wardrobe.
So what does my personal capsule wardrobe look like? Basically I decided I need about thirty seven items. When I say a three-piece suit, that’s already 3 items. For the fall-winter season, I would choose 2-3 pieces suits.
A tuxedo is a very special item and you have to decide if you need it or not depending on the events that you’re going to attend in the next three months.
If you live or travel to a warmer climate, your capsule wardrobe will look entirely different. First of all, because it’s warmer I’d skip any type of 3 piece suits and only go with 2 pieces. Because it’s a warmer climate you can be more daring and you can have more sport coats.
All these suggestions were highly personalized to my tastes and they may not work for you or you can take as a foundation and then change things as you see fit.

@@jefffawcett bro if you wear jackets/suits every day you need a good rotation. Otherwise they won't last you as long. And honestly, 8 dress shirts isn't that much. I have 10 and I just reached the point where I feel like I don't need more than that

Wenn ich das alles in den Koffer packen will, dann gute Nacht. Zu meinen Studizeiten bin ich zwei Wochen mit dem Aktenkoffer (!) unterwegs gewesen: 1 schwarze Jeans, eine andere Hose sagen wir mal blau, schwarze Schuhe, eine unauffällige Jacke und vier Hemden in einfachen Farben und Mustern, 1 Pullover und Rei in der Tube. Der Trick für einen kleinen Koffer ist auch die voluminösesten Sachen gleich unterwegs anzuziehen, also Mäntel, Pullover, Sweater etc. Wenig Gepäck= einfacher Reisen. Mein leerer Koffer erlaubt mir dafür unterwegs was einzukaufen, was optimal in die Landschaft passt.

37 items per season is not a capsule wadrobe, that's just a normal sized wardrobe.
Here's a real capsule wardrobe that will suit any gentleman.
In my dresser i have 2 polo shirts, 1 t-shirt, 7, yes, 7 button-up shirts, and 1 sweater. For pants I have 4 pairs of black dickies (work pants), and 1 pair of brown courdorys, as well as 4 neckties. I am 13 years old come may. That is a lot of combinations for a kid my age!
This is interesting stuff...but literally every item you showed is more formal than anything I wear more than once a year.
you can dress down almost anything, for example if u take apart a three piece suit you can get the following outfit
1) jacket(acts as a sport coat) + chinos paired with a loafer or plain sneaker
2) slacks with polo and a casual shoe
3) vest with flannel shirt or even another jacket to create a contrasting look
: aside from them u can skip tie if its too formal, u definitely don't need a dress shoe, just replace it with a desert shoe or chukka boots or even a derby or wingtips . similarly u can replace items with casual version to create casual, non formal outfits and still look good

I like how you are so knowledgeable but can I ask? Why is it when you do a presentation, you seem to have a hard time pronouncing some words when someone else also said you talk very normally on live shows? You slow down and seem to struggle on purpose like, suuuuuit, aaaaand, a claaaaassic, then you mumble the next 10 words. It’s really hard to listen to, especially when I do want to get tips from your channel. Preston seems to be a much better paced speaker without pretentiousness. It’s, like, you speak “it’s, A--A S-UUUUu-it” then I can’t understand the next 10 or so words cuz you talk so fast mumbling. Just my 2 cents imo.
