I would love to see a capsule wardrobe like this but for warmer climates
Would similar colors but lighter fabrics not apply? For example, linen in places of cotton chinos? Unlined sport coats, etc? I could understand a different colors palate for different places. I live in LA and enjoy desert shades of color whereas if lived in Miami I might lean toward pastel.
Yes, for instance not a single pair of shorts on the entire list. Go live in Central square South Florida for a couple years and tell me you're not wearing shorts half the year. Polo shirt, shorts, and some boat shoes or driving moccasins.
If I was making this list myself, jeans would be number one, followed by an Oxford cloth button down in white. Most of the world wears jeans everyday. And most guys don't wear suits or sport coats to work. Those are your workhorse pants get them first. If you don't own a suit, you can rent it. Ain't nobody renting a pair of jeans.
I agree I'm in Texas in a business casual office. Short sleeve button downs and polos are how to survive lol. But I got a few ideas on some things I don't own when the meeting/event needs a jacket/jeans or suit.
And I'm probably buying that casual warm jacket though. Living down here I think they last time I bought a coat was well over 10 years ago an I never know what to buy.
Yes tell me about it, although I really like these clothes here in Puerto Rico the heat gets unbearable during the summer months, I end up looking like a walking sweat stain if I use this attire 😂.
Poloshirt (Pikee or Linen), Linen Shorts or Trousers, mix Jeans with a Polo. Mix Linen shorts with a linen shirt and roll the sleeves up. Wear loafers without socks.
Again and again I come back and watch this video to feel good about myself for having thrown out all my old clothes and invested in (mostly) all 25 pieces. This is truly the most versatile wardrobe you can have. I apreciate your videos so much Brian. Thank you.
I ran into this video without knowing the channel before and I’ve been binge watching it since.
All the videos are great but if I had to choose the one single most educational video from Brian would be this one, every single guy should watch this either to learn how to dress better or to get some inspiration.
Amazing conten
So true andrey
And it's easy to build on as well with an extra suit and a few more items.
That's great to hear Brian 😀. Hope the journey is continuing to be a fantastic one. I'm just starting rebuilding my wardrobe and this 25 piece model has kept things simple but so more effective for me. All the best 👍
Would love to see an episode of you redoing a dudes entire wardrobe with him, begining to end!
If he were to do that I would want that dude to be me. I could use it
Love this idea. Do it!!!
Totally agree. I think the majority of men probably have a similar type of wardrobe , with items brought by Wives , GF , partners . Plus lots of stuff which we don’t wear or don’t know how to combine together and wear . I think it’s time we all need an upgrade !
Iamnikeep I am gorment jobe you last working meets gorment jobe no keep cm is my face booke nomade you are keep and made vidio I am gorment don't your cores limited c. M plices meet you
And jaill jayaga today hoy gorment like ka keep you are aarsetted now policesl
Would like a version of this that focuses on more summery clothes. Us people who live in hot climates can get very easily hot with just adding a blazer to our outfits. We mostly reserve them for special events or night-outs.
Honestly, dressing nice is SO much easier to do in colder weather!
I've found waistcoats to be a huge help putting together outfits in warmer weather. The lack of sleeves mean they don't add much warmth, but keep things interesting with patterns and layers.
@@nixjasr I actually like this a lot! I live in Phoenix so the summer seems tricky to me concerning business attire. I'm making a career change from construction essentially to a new york life agent. I'm a boots and jeans guy so I'm looking to play the new part now. I love hearing others ideas.
I've heard many times that people in hotter areas typically wear linen instead of wool/flannel/cotton. It's apparently lighter and dries faster, if I recall correctly. I'd look into that.
@@kyleimcdermott it does. Linen is very nice IMO
That suit, peacoat, outercoat, waxed jacket/coat are extremely versatile pieces. Love your picks!
Thanks so much, Faran!
This is what the younger generation needs to learn basics will get you so far than what a statement peice will ever do.... you do need statement pieces but when it comes to versatility only basics will get the job done ❤️❤️❤️❤️ always loved the content HSS and Michael Andrews is what the dressing world needs
Many thanks for the continued support.
Yeah. I do feel like throwing (almost) everything out.
It can be refreshing.
@@hespokestyle what does Hopsack mean regarding a suit?
@@PresbianTier Hopsack refers to the weave of the fabric.
@@danielduggan5405 so I can go to a store like Brook Bros and they would understand if I ask for a Hopsack thread jacket.
@@PresbianTier As long as the sales person is knowledgeable in the field. You can also check out HSS shop here.
Something about outfit #1 gives off this "Yeah I'm just gonna casually close this $10M deal and be back with you" vibe. These outfits are so well put together, but #1, #5 and #8 are my absolute favorites. This is going to my "outfit inspiration" bookmarks folder.
Dark suits for the evenings, light suits for the day. I'm old and feel terribly cold, so, regardless of the prevalent stylistic trends, I'd stick to a slightly loose fitting (to not have to watch one's weight too carefully), three-button jacket, with flaps over the pockets(these can always be tucked these in, but these help keep the pockets clean), and just one slit at the back; a slightly loose, pleated(these hide unevenly tucked in shirts) and straight/slightly tapered trousers with cuffs(these help with the fall and keep them neat), at the bottom, and adjusters around the waist; and two overcoats, a dark one for the night and a light one for the day, with one slit/vent and a belt at the back(the Single Breasted Overcoat or the Chesterfield, for formal wear, the Paletot or the Trench Coat, for work/semi-formal events, and the Ulster, the Great Coat, or Loden for the country), with collars, not lapels, for the casual overcoat( to protect the neck and chest in harsh winters).
I also like the Sports Coat, the Pea Coat, the Havelock Coat, the Tailcoat, the Parka, and the Puffer Coat. I've never been able to carry the Tuxedo, the Blazer, or a Trench Coat well, so I don't like wearing them.
BTW, a waistcoat keeps the suit neat by hiding most of the shirt, but I've never found waistcoats comfortable, so I don't wear a waistcoat.
I also love tweed jackets and overcoats for casual winter- and country-wear.
You choose solid colors for formal events. You can choose shades and patterns, like chalk stripes, for semi-formal events, and saw-tooth, herring-bone, and plaid patterns for casual tweed jackets.
I'll never wear check suits or coats, and I've also grown tired of pinstripes and the "Prince of Wales" check(actually plaid).
For variety, I like some of the new suits by Corneliani.
I'll choose grey or camel for the day and black or charcoal for the night. Navy has never really suited me.
For summer casual wear, I'll choose white, ash-white, camel, cream, and, perhaps, even beige(but this is a little too effeminate for me), for the suits and trousers, and white, light jade, light blue, light green, and cream, for the shirts.
For winter casual wear, I'll choose various shades of grey, mustard, brown, olive and green.
Shoes: You need the Oxford shoe, with or without the toe cap, for formal wear. Whole Cut shoes are for semi-formal wear, but I also like to wear these to formal events. I, personally, don't like the Derby or the Blucher for any occasion. I would wear Quarter Brogue for semi-formal open-air morning and afternoon events and the Chelsea to informal indoor events. I'll wear the Full Brogue to casual events, the Brogue Boot or a Work or Military Boot to the country, and the Chukka Boot to the beach. I don't like the Monk Strap or the Loafer or the Moccasin.
Here, again, the simpler the shoe, the more formal it is.
Since I've grown old and find formal shoes stiff, heavy and uncomfortable, I mostly wear Lacrosse, the running shoe, and the trail running shoe. I like light shoes with thick outer-soles and support for the whole foot and the ankle and protection for the toe.
I also wear hiking and trail boots, whenever I go into the country.
You also need plain accessories for formal events and just a tad ornate ones for informal, outdoor, and country events.
I like flannel, Chino, Khaki, Sweat, Jogger, and Corduroy pants. I still like black denim and wear blue only if I have to go to outdoor, but I find all kinds of denim, heavy, stiff and uncomfortable, so would usually prefer corduroy, khaki, sweat or joggers to them.
As I've aged, I've continued to move out of formal attire into lighter, looser, and gentler dresses.
This is probably the best capsule wardrobe I have seen. So much versatility with these few pieces
The best advice that I have seen presented on CZcams for any male who is starting out on a Major Corporate level career path. With that nicely balanced starting point you are prepared for any opportunity that life presents. Then when you have got to that level you can start on the basic wardrobe of seven suits, that you can keep on rotation for the next 40 years. Phil.
Thanks so much for that comment.
HSS is probably my new favorite Men's channel in YT right now. Keep up the great work, Brian!
Nice! Hope to stay in the No. 1 position!
I love that you included the whole list in the comments and what I love even more is that you included a list of watches at different price points so it's attainable for (almost) any gentleman, regardless of where he is in life (financially). Your content is much appreciated, thank you!
Love the soundtrack and vibe of the lookbook. Also, really appreciate the way in which you displayed each outfit with the split-screen treatment; on one side a zoomed-in example all in real-time. A very nice touch, Brian.
Thanks so much, Mike. That was an experiment for us--and to be honest, meant to be more efficient as we had to shoot 20 outfits for this video, instead of the usual five.
@@hespokestyle From a cinematic point of view, it worked well. That's great that it allows for efficiency too! A Marco view with an additional camera as well, for more cut scenes next time? :) I guess that's only applicable when talking fabrics. Nicely done, sir!
Brian, this might be your best video yet. Anyone looking to start building a wardrobe could start here and have so many outfits without getting too far from their comfort range. Excellent job!
Thank you so much!
I've seen this video so many times I'm about to memorize every piece and outfit. Also I'm having lots of fun redoing my entire wardrobe replicating this capsule for the business/smart/elevated casual and formal outfits.
Also would be so cool a more Spring/Summer capsule.
Thanks for helping us to feel more confident and unlock our potential.
You have a very unfair advantage using a Vacheron Constantin as the starting point to build the outfit 😅
LOL. There are various similar options at different price points down in the description!
You can still catch up by adding a terrific niche fragrance, the finishing touch of every outfit. During the winter go for Roja's DANGER. You will gain so many points that the lack of a VC will matter less.
I would like to know how he can afford some of these watches. In his video about selling his nautilus, he said he's "not made of money" yet his watch collection would suggest otherwise.
@@bigvanvader3122 I think his watch collection suggests that he is successful and has great taste. The He Spoke Style brand on CZcams and otherwise reaches an upscale, fashion conscious audience with expert advice and genuine influence. Brian is also a Master Sergeant in the US Army, a professional musician (saxophonist) in the United States Army Field Band. Brian, Robin, and members of the team worked hard for their success and deserve it. Many irons in the fire.
@@theartstraveler3162 Thanks a lot for the recommendation, I'll check it out :)
This video is perfect for people starting out their Satorial journey! :)
Exactly the aim! Thanks, Javi!
I love each one of the outfits, but then I remember I live in Brazil and I would melt inside so many pieces of clothes. 🤣
Outfit number 4 is the clear winner for me... It gives you a little bit of formal look with the suit, but on the other hand those casual white sneakers give you this nice relaxed ( and even sportish ) look. All in all very versatile outfit and definitely the one i would look to pick up in the near future..
Currently my husband has been asking me about hows his style in office, and he's ready to hear some of my critics. And i give him some visual styles. And i happen to stumble upon this video. And it help me and my husband a lot. And he said he's ready to throw away his clothes. 😂
I love the look book for showing all the outfit combinations. You pan and allow us to really have the time to see all the items work together!
You are so welcome!
Ayeee.. MY man, your swag is cold bro. Keep doing your thing my man. You’ve inspired me to focus on my presentation while also being conscience about what I own. Much love and appreciation for your channel
So great, timeless elegant outfits and I love that youre not focused on specific brands but quality textiles cut and versatility.
This is actually a great vid for a minimalist wardrobe as well as essential pieces. I love the variations. 25 pieces you could buy of high quality and get alot out of it. Thanks.
Started my first real job this year, and wanted to build an appropriate business casual wardrobe to go along with it. Your approach, tips and tricks was just what I was looking for. Amazing work, thank you!
Best wardrobe video I've came across. I'm a newbie to building a style and wardrobe and no one explained how pieces can go together and how it can look. Thank you!
Just shared this with one of my students looking to level up their business wardrobe. Love the pieces you shared here. Great video!
I am in the middle of a job change from a practically set uniform every day to a business setting. This was such a great video to help me know where I want to lean as spending the little money I have at the moment, to stretch those outfits out! Ty!
My bf is getting ready to move into an office work environment & will pretty much need an entirely new wardrobe. I'm looking forward to taking him shopping for his beginner capsule wardrobe, although we live in a hot weather/more casual environment so will be adjusting you suggestions a little.
Just stumbled across this at the perfect time - going to get some made to measure shirts today and I know which 3 colours to get now.. also I love how this wardrobe can also work with so many other pieces I already have - keen to start building up my closet!
You nailed this one !!
Many thanks!
Probably the best organized video I've seen on clothing. Great job on being quick on the items and then showing the outfits.
Love the denim shirt, grey pants and v neck sweater and hope to get for my own wardrobe so thanks for highlighting them. Exellent video, very helpful for the right people
I've came back to this video a few times. Your style is classy and timeless. Love it, Brian.
Fantastic different looks. I love the co-ordination between the different styles especially the white sneekers appearance @9:05
thanks! , your channel is helping me a lot, im a software developer so i use the same outfit everyday (literaly i bough 10 shirts, 5 jeans and 3 pair of shoes exaclty equal) just to not waste time and energy woring what would i wear next day , you know just taking the next set and thats it, but i want to change that now and this video helped me a lot, thanks!
The video was outstanding for grown folks fashion.
At 41 I own wear and hoard clothes that have been impulse purchases that have not been given proper thought to. I keep coming back to this video as I'm gradually wearing and throwing out the rubbish whilst rebuilding from this restart model. The plan is to keep my wardrobe less cluttered, more purposeful and enjoyable. Thank you He Spoke Style for your great content and for helping me get back on track😊
I'm 32 and am just getting interested in dressing better. Been working in healthcare for the past 10 years and my fashion is scrubs or loungewear lol. I'm making a career change and that means dressing better! This video is a HUGE help man! Well done...liked subscribed all that for ya. Keep it up.
Throw this one in the CZcams hall of fame.
You're the only mens fashion youtuber I've found so far that doesn't either make me cringe or give me gross used car salesman vibes.
Thank you for being the first one of these videos to mention the type of fabric recomended (not just a cotton shirt.) As a sewer making my own wardrobe this is amazingly helpful
3 years later, this is still one of the best videos on the web for its niche
You earned mad respect once you showcased the 20 stylish wardrobe configurations. Solid video.
For those who might not be into denim shirt. Chambray does the trick. I recently got one for my brother birthday. The man's infatuated with It.
That picture on the wall is beautiful
Great 20 combinations... like it. really appreciating.
WOW!!!
Just... wow!
I never thought dressing stylishly could be so simple. (Not easy - simple...)
Mind = blown!
Thank you so much.
Very good styling and versatile wardrobe, love the outerwear particularly the jackets
Great video. Thanks for dropping this! I’m currently putting together a new wardrobe and this definitely helps. Keep up the good content broski👍
Thanks Brian! I REALLY needed to see this video!
Love your mix and match styling here with the 25 wardrobe essentials
It is one of the most inspiring videos about men's style witch I'v ever seen. Brian, your are the most stylish CZcamsr in my opinion. Just continue shooting such a great content.
Perfect sync with the handclap there 09:01😃
You did put some great effort here, thanks.
This is what I’ve been waiting for! Thank you HSS
You're very welcome!
I like how you show the range of outfits, really helpful - thanks for the video
I've been watching your videos for months and also changed my clothing styles from the most casual way to more possibilities among dress up, biz casual and smart casual.
Your fan from Taiwan.
This is the most informative video I've ever watched and I'm genuinely grateful for this video as it ease my headache over choosing the styles and colour! Thank you so much please keep it up
25 pieces and 20 great outfits - you are true magician !!!
It looks amazing.
I love it )))
I love these looks. All good pieces. I think the peacoat is a great suggestion. I've been a fan of them for years and it's a very versatile piece which can be dressed up and down to a certain extent.
Fantastic video. So many different options with just 25 pieces 👌
Great stuff! I just started over and kept or aquired twenty-two of the recommended items. Now I know what three to look for next. Thanks!
I actually didn't expect that! Bravo.
Thank you so much for this video! I am very short and I usually don't fit mens sizes. I could never find shirts with a more formal collar. My shirts mostly have the collar like the shirt you show at 3:10. Now that I know about the different kinds of shirts I have finally found great formal shirts in my size. Thanks!
Hi Brian, you are actually my style guru and have transformed my wardrobe. There are so many style channels on CZcams but nothing beats your channel. Happy Thanksgiving.
Well done Brian! Love it, we need more series like this.
More to come!
I was having second thoughts about the "white leather sneakers" because I didn't thought they really matched casual clothing, but your video made me accept them by how versatile they can be. I'll take the plunge and get a pair!
haha, i can't stop smiling. every outfit works and looks so good. thx so much for this inspiring video!
This is an excellent video. If you make one like this again in the future, I recommend putting a scenario next to the outfits you create. This will give newcomers an idea of when to wear those outfits.
Really like how simple and clean yet varied these combos are, even with the DISCIPLINE of committing to brown leather without a black option! (Though nitpick: I think you could scrap the lightwash denim from the capsule without losing anything.)
Thanks for the comment! I like light wash jeans so you have some more casual options.
Really great video for showing off combos.
Legitimately blown away by how good all the outfits look.
Good choice in the Barbour jacket, either Bedale or Beaufort. Absolute classics that go with anything
Very helpful, thank you so much

Great vid. Thx. I have done a serious body recomposition so need to reboot my entire wardrobe.
Superb! What a comprehensive list and great outfit selection at the end :)
Thank. This last part with examples was so useful
Wonderful video. Thank you
Great inspiration. Yes, please do a capsule wardrobe for summer in hotter climates (where layering simply won’t work). Thanks
Oh man, thanks so much for this content! I'm new over here but I got really fascinated with that light blue stripe shirt and the dark brown oxford, I need to get those items ASAP
Quite good but I'd personally switch some parts a bit... The shirt selection is good but I'd swap the trousers for 1x flannel, 1x linen trousers and an additional 1 or 2 mid season type (jeans, chinos). I also don't think you need two winter coats, I'd much rather have a linen overshirt, the wax jacket for autumn/spring and the overcoat for winter. For shoes, I definitely agree on your selection but I personally enjoy chelsea boots over the ones you showed so giving some options for newcomers could be nice. :) Scarf and gloves are also accessories missing here. Your wardrobe works for a person who takes the car to work but some pieces wouldn't work that well e.g. here in Finland if you take public transportation and need to walk on the streets.
Amazing video, thank you so much
Gracias por el video
Currently building my own capsule/minimalist wardrobe for a career transition and this helped to think about possible combinations in my own style and colors. I understand why you didn't mention t-shirts and such, but I'm a bit surprised that you didn't include any belts though. I've always been under the impression to start an outfit from the ground up, and to make sure you have a belt and that it goes with your shoes.
Great video! Love watching videos like this..
Excellent sir. Absolutely excellent. Thank you.
Great video, Brian! This also works, of course, for filling in gaps with items that we might be missing from our wardrobe. Thanks again.
Absolutely! Thanks, as always, for chiming in, Daniel.
Great style info. Thank you.
Mix and match clothing for all occasion in style. Good work!
The best wardrobe essentials video I've ever seen. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for your inspiration
Perfect! And appreciate the video editing
I enjoyed seeing all the different options thanks.
GREAT video, very timely for me!!
impeccable style my man. was a little hesitant about navy blue as a colour for my suit but this video blasted the doubts to splinters! keep up the drop dead work!
Thanks man, this was really helpful
Nice mix of peices to make a versatile wardobe. Personally, I would select my shoes in black.
