They should have made it even f-ing harder to reach... Disassembling the laptop up to this point to replace a battery, seriously?
Yea. I am surprised at what the moron who designed this was thinking. Maybe they just want people to give up and get a new laptop.
Best of luck getting that back together!
My laptop stopped working suddenly, and wouldn’t start up again, after I changed the cmos battery it’s finally running again 😅 after all the trouble of disassembling the whole thing I realized the cmos battery is literally taped to the back side of the soft flap on the right side of the laptop right after taking the battery out.. 😆😆😆 so in a pinch you could simply cut the flap, cut the 2 wires and solder the new one in without touching a single screw ☝️😀😃😄😁😆😅😂🤣
Right! this comment must be up!
Fantastic input. I could change the CMOS battery within 5 mins without removing a single screw. Thanks for saving me a ton of effort.
Request you to post a video on this 😊👌👌
Thank you very much your tutorial were very helpful. Thank you again from Brazil.
Thanks for making the video. It helped me to replace it without braking anything.
Me too..
To reassemble, I just rewound the video with the arrows keys, to ensure that everything got reconnected.
In my case, I had to disconnect the CMOS battery so that I could remove/reset the BIOS password.
A huge thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you, my Laptop works again 😊😊😊
You're welcome. Congrats on the recovery.
Thank you. Laptop saved!
thank you. fantastic tutorial
only to change a little battery???
Thank you so so so much.
Thanks a lot!
I think I'll just re-enter the date and time every time I start the laptop!
thanks for the video!! :D
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanx man
Way beyond what I'm willing to do.
Thanks for the very useful video. My 7240 isn't booting properly. Every time I change the RAM it boots once to show memory configuration changed. When I reboot the hard drive light blinks repeatedly and nothing else happens. I can only turn the laptop off with the power button. I suspect a motherboard fault. This happens with or without a drive plugged into the mSATA port on the right-hand side of the motherboard.
Hello. I'm having the exact problem you described. I have to keep changing the RAM between the two slots to reboot properly. It will reboot once and then when shut down and restarted, nothing happens except for the hard disk drive blinking. I have to swap the RAM module again to get it going. Did changing the CMOS battery solve your problem? If not, how did you solve the issue? Thanks for any ideas.
@@reenakatta1456 after changing the CMOS battery the system did boot once and then reproduced the same error. I've not managed to solve the problem and conclude that it must be a motherboard issue. Sorry I couldn't help you more.
What is cmos model for dell e7240??
Here is the CMOS battery: ppci.me/c/140/445/cmos
Can you please tell me what type of screwdriver i need to open it? None of my screwdrivers fit in it.
Omar Kazi I use a Husky HD-74501 8 in 1 screwdriver with a 1/8 inch Phillips tip.
Thanks, I can look in amazon for it.
Yeah... I think I'll just buy a new laptop
All this for a CMOS battery, DAMNNNN
31 blessed screws...
Unbelievable. WTF were Dell thinking to make a simple CMOS reset into a ridiculous marathon.
Q. is, will it fix the stupid "can't turn off airplane mode problem ?
removed CMOS battery but BIOS password could not reset plz help me.
The CMOS battery only powers the date and time. You have to replace the motherboard.
I paid for password reset 10£ on ebay ;-)
@@joseph791206 Was worked?? I have problem with password, but if disconnect battery not working I need search other ways to solve the problem.
haha! i quit the moment i saw the second round of screws :)))) I'll buy a new laptop thanks!
All this for a CMOS battery😤😤😤
wtf all this steps just for this ?
