- Anthony Davis dodged questions of being frustrated with his situation after the New Orleans Pelicans' loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Rachel Nichols, Chauncey Billups and Amin Elhassan of The Jump question if Davis has reached a breaking point as the losses pile up. Billups also explains how he, then a member of the Detroit Pistons, and Tyronn Lue convinced Kevin Garnett to leave the Minnesota Timberwolves, which ultimately led to him joining the Boston Celtics alongside Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. The team eventually won the 2008 NBA Finals.

I respect Mr big shot for his advice to KG, while he was still a Piston at the time
They were teammates in 2000-2002
The Pistons were done in 2006. If he said that in Summer 2004 I would respect that.
@@thsu8 what??? They were still competitive and went to the ecf for 2 more years.
@@thsu8 not until 2008-09.
Lmao that reporter disrespectful asf you don’t ask that type of question. AD great way to show leadership
Lil Dagga
He knew he was being disrespectful too, notice how he lowered his voice when he asked lol
A reporter can ask what ever the fuck he wants. That’s a reporters job. If AD don’t want to answer, he don’t got to, but it’s that reporters duty to ask interesting questions and seek truth.
hard, you could see AD was pissed
Don't be surprised if some of these guys have been hired by the Lakers to go in and stir things up
Gold Wolf nah it’s a respect thing as well, you know for sure AD won’t be taking questions from him in the future
Rachel's face when Chauncey started talking about kg lol. She loves dirt/info fam her face literally lights up
Chason Wright “tell me more about the conversation “ 😂😭😂
@68Camaro RS/SS lol my fiance is Salvadorian so I'll let you guess
@rigged ref bro what are you talking about
the sad part is she is the best female moderator they have.....
LMAO
Chauncey has literally become one of favorite players to listen to along with Kobe, KG, Jalen, the boys on TNT, Reggie, C-Webb, T-Mac and if I forgot any leave a comment
forgot Nick Wright and Ryan Hollins
@@b1bbscraz3y Ryan Hollins is trash at commentating and analysis
@@HatersDontKnowBall Nick Wright is too
Clips 36 C-Webb is wack asf he says stuff about the game that my grandma could have pointed out
Isaiah's interview of Curry was pretty good.
As a Wolves fan it hurt to see KG leave but Chuancey wasn't wrong. And you could feel it when KG finally won it too (it was cathartic and he shouted out all his MN fans too). Good advice Chauncey. (We loved you as a 🐺 too)
I'm a wolves fan and not even mad Chauncey told KG to leave. All he did for the wolves meant he deserved a team that could help him win. Glad he got that ring even if it wasnt with the wolves.
I remember playing against Chauncey in high school. Always looked up to him. Always been a good dude
Nothing but love to you Chauncey Billups that's a true friend lookin' out for a other friend and Chauncey you will be blessed for that maybe one day being in the NBA Hall Of Fame.
Rachel cares for the drama more than the game
Bryan Jones she is drama
I hated when she said auction off. That cough came right on time.
She is woman dig what you expect.
Honestly what NBA nerd in the world wouldn't want to hear a story about Chaucey and KG having a conversation like this?
At Least She Doesn't Interrupt Like Molly On First Take! Lol
Wow really speaks volume of chauncy he couldve been selfish & tell him to stay in the western conference
young kobe Facts, the Pistons ended up losing the ECF to the Celtics the next year too.
As a pistons fan this hurts
young kobe they were friends because they played on the wolves together a couple years,
Chauncey is real and one of the reasons I respect the hell out of him
Breaking up is hard to do - but do not be like Dan Marino who was loyal and wasted his legacy in Miami.
2 brothers keeping it real true love 🤎🏀👍
KG is my favorite player of all time. Dude was a freak in his prime. I honestly think he was better than Duncan. But that's my opinion.
I agree I had every KG basketball card growing up!
KG was a stud! But never better than Duncan
Better skillset than Duncan, although Duncan was a bit more consistent and had better coaching. KG is better than AD tho.
@@kameronkruz2389 KG was better shooter, passer, ball handler, and could defend all 5 positions. Duncan has the hardware but KG was better!
Better athlete maybe, but not better fundamentally nor a higher basketball IQ.
wat a fuckin bro billups is. give this guy a main spot as an analyst man, this guy is awesome.
Well said Mr. Big shot
chauncey billups is a great nba pundit on tv. always on point.
AD in the same position Kobe, KG was before they got Gasol and KG left. Lakers and Wolves wasted several years of their primes because they couldn't get talented stars.
@rigged ref lol you really believe that. Shaq got traded because Bus was not going to give him a max contract. These are facts and documented by Shaq himself, that some bs fabricated that people believed.
@rigged ref Shaq got Shaq traded.
New orleans not getting those type of players
@@doctoranderson2009 what if they could trade for Bradley Beal?
@@doctoranderson2009 they had their chance tho
And he did the right decision!!
I love AD man he so real and thats that chicago in em...he should of had played with rose
Very interesting to see this today, with Chauncey named as the coach of the Blazers who kind of have their own KG there.
Seven seasons for any franchise is enough time to gauge whether it is time or stay or leave. Unfortunately, in today's league it always turns out a franchise player leaves a team because the team that drafted him can no longer commit to winning. Only one team has really stood out in terms of staying competitive and that was the Thunder.
AD has help. Some of those guys on the Pelicans are playing the best game in their careers. Regardless, you NEED another All-Star to compliment your generational talent. KG knew it. KD knew it. Even Kareem knew it.
David Willingham EXACTLY
No he dont
@Supa Slime who are you? Lol so KD didn't know he NEEDED a better All-Star presence (Steph > Russ).
David Willingham why did you mention KD?? You seriously underestimate Westbrook and Steven Adams. If Russ didn’t take Adams boards his averages would be ridiculous and they literally had the warriors on the ropes and choked lol
David Willingham they choked a 3-1 lead you mindless prick
AD is one of the most professional dudes in the whole league. So loyal, doesn’t get the respect he deserves. It’s gotta be frustrating not being able to will the team by yourself to the next level, how LeBron for example manages to do it. I can only guess that maybe if he was a point forward like Giannis or LJ he’d have more success. Couple of years back watched a bit of Pelicans, their core has stayed the same since. Back then he’d score 30 points and would still feel like he was underutilized out there on the offense, as most big men out there. Guards dominating the ball, shooting contested shots while he’s turned into this hustle guy. Haven’t seen them play this year, but this dude even back then left a really good impression. No ego what so ever, works his behind off and never complains. LeBron would love to have a guy like that on his team for sure. Same goes for Kawhi. Both dudes just want to win, and leave everything out there on the floor. LJ would just have be the distributor and a cheerleader for these guys, a motivator. If he got them both next year. They could possibly go for a 3 peat in LA, they’d be that talented on both ends of the court. Not saying that’ll happen, but if it did I think they’d be favorites to win the whole thing.
He and Jrue need consistent support on defense and shooting the 3 to be able to make it. I don't blame AD for being frustrated and the reporter crossed the line with that question. I think he handled it with class from what that clip showed. He was visibly upset, but didn't act up.
I like AD and how he responded to that BS question. He might end up leaving next year anyway, but good for him showing respect for NO.
Having heard davis I don’t think he’ll ask before June, if he does
Stuff like this is what I hate about the modern NBA. Star players constantly complaining until they get their way and go to a super team in a big media market to win a championship.
Pelicans doesn't give a shit about any of your opinions, media. AD will just get traded to Golden State or Boston if he doesn't re-sign the extension.
No reporter should ask that type of question at all and I don't blame Ad for responding the way he did
The dude in the middle being nosey. He should've backed away from the table🤣
Why nobody ever questions that coach they have
I wish Kevin came back to Minnesota 2 years earlier than he did to mentor and still put up good numbers... Twovles still lacks grade A player. Glenn Taylor really needs to go...
No bench. Then again, gotta wait for Mirotic to come back and see what will happen
Good anwser yes
Jrue Holiday is one of the best two-way guards in the league, Randle looks like a 6th Man of the Year. People forget Kevin Love put up the type of numbers AD was getting with the Pelicans, nobody was screaming "Save Kevin Love". It was more like "Maybe Kevin Love can't take a team to a championship"
They need a wing 3 and D player who can knock down the 3 ball at a consistent rate. The Pelicans have never had that type of player in the Davis era and they need one now more than ever.
I need Chauncey to get this Bulls GM job so another one of my teams are good. I can’t watch the Bulls play for this long and be THIS bad. Come on C!
Magic’s doing ight, but they could of got Paul George or Kawhi for WAY LESS compared to AD.
Imagine. All SAS wanted for Kawhi was Ingram and Hart or Wagner.
All IND wanted for pg was Oladipo and Sabonis before they were any good. At the time an ingram or the 2nd round pick (zo) would of landed them PG.
Now the lakers chances of getting Kawhi and any other star in free agency is eh. + if they want AD you’re gonna have to give up every young asset you have.
Dan 3 But you can't blame them for their decision at the time. In hindsight it's easy to say it wasn't smart for them to keep those guys because we knew the out come. What we didn't know was how good would Ingram become, how he'd play next to Lebron, how Zo would develop. The Spurs absolutely didn't want to trade with any team in their conference, so the Lakers were out of luck. Trading for PG was an extremely risky decision, at the time they hadn't secured a Lebron or let alone any star. PG made his mind and decided to stay in OKC, after publicly stating he would love to be a Laker yet he didn't even meet with them. AD is a big asking price because unlike Pg, Davis is a legit superstar. Paul George was always coasting along the lines of being a star and not taking the next step like he has this season. AD is so talented he can shift the balance of the NBA with a trade, he's like the Lebron, KD, etc where any team with them will improve.
Bro this is KGs subject interview in nba 2k18
Now some of yall can see how lebron felt. But instead of jrue holiday, he had eric snow. 😂😂
There is a lot of help for AD. The problem is injury.
Him & bron kinda have the samething in common they wanna win & now! 👌
He has tons of help....His teamates is way more consistent than the Celtics Roster who throws tons of Bricks and still manage to win games.....I think its the Coaching and management that suck in New Orleans not the winning type of culture.
Who's available tho?
If the Pelicans had a bench dude they would be 3rd in the west
Andrew Castelli Julius Randle is averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds from the bench. Plus they’re getting production from others. Damn how much more help does he need?
@@atlien1988 how much more help does he need? He's averaging near 29 13 4 on 50% FG 34% 3PT 2.6BLK 1.7STL 80%FT.
He literally does everything and they're 14th in the west but how much does he need? LOL
BTW Jordan had someone in his first few years who averaged 20PPG (before Pippen came) but ppl were talking about how he had no help.
Newsflash: If you replace every team's bench players with better ones, the team becomes better than they are. The hottest of takes.
New Orleans really have a nice squad. The problem is defense
This is nothing more then just business of speculation. It has become prime for all sports media nowdays
I’m glad KG got his title. I’m sad He didn’t get more. That knee injury came at the absolute worst time.
Definitely couldve repeated if kg didnt go down in '09.
If he's that special... He makes the Pels a winner BY HIMSELF. All time greats have done that
They are the only team in the NBA to have not 1 not 2 but 3 players avg 20ppg with AD leading the way with 28ppg and his numbers will go up as the season goes on and to touch on a point why they are losing is because they don't play "Team Defense"
Chauncey "can u win that's the question"
There is no defense being played. Just watch the games they it's a clear lane every time
I know it’s not gonna happen but it would be cool to see ad on the suns
Starting to think Rondo was the most important player to that team
I don't understand why people get mad when players leave to try to put themselves in better position. Think about the Legacy and how we look at people. DeMarcus Cousins was the best center in the league for about four years and no one cared because he played for the Kings. Then the first year he was going to go to the playoffs he has a season-ending injury and gets no respect for his greatness. Kevin Garnett is another who really in his first 10 years and through match Tim Duncan as far as stats and play went. Except with multiple coaches every season. Terrible front office and other problems. Just much worse team and people talk like Duncan is the greatest power forward of all time.
with West having 14 good teams, you'll see teams that are good but with bad records here and there. I mean cmon wild wild west.
People are fans longer then the players have to play the game. Fuck how those fans feel.
can't you say that about every superstar not playing for the Warriors though?
Davis should bounce to a contender immediately...los angeles..... he will go down in history ....and get rings
Can Rachel PLEASE REPLACE MOLLY ON FIRST TAKE .... PLEASEEEE???😂😂❤❤
AD Welcome to life of TMAC
You literally can't be better than your record. Fuck that.
When all healthy that team is more talented than the Clippers( AD, Jrue, Mirotic, Randle, Payton).....Issue is Payton has been hurt often. And not sure why they didn't make the move for Justin Holiday??!!
I Believe If AD can’t get no help from the GM and ownership of the team, that’s means building around him, he should leave.
Chauncey what a smart guy to convince one of the best power fowards ever to join two other superstars to compete against us in the Eastern Conference SMH
The New Orleans Pelicans need better 2nd unit players: guys that can hold a lead while allowing starters to rest a few minutes. Then, the Pelicans could compete for a championship title.
Chauncey along with Max Kellerman are the best analysts imo
Auctioned off???!! Lmaooo
He should for a trade. It's better for a team and it's better for him. They already out of conversation what else to wait?
looks like they forgot how big of a piece boogie was last season
Tru💯
Isn't that what happens to first round picks?! They get drafted to crappy teams, hoping that that one great player can turn the team around. More likely than not. That crappy team doesn't have the money to attract primetime players so the top pick drafted player spends years hustling for a losing team and then maybe gets traded to a competitive team. It happened to LeBron, KG, Carmelo, Kemba, etc. That's the way it goes.
they should look to trade E'Twaun Moore for Wayne Ellington- gives them someone who really knows how to play off-ball.. maybe the best in the league at it.. Sign maybe someone like Corey Brewer or Pat McCaw for a wing defender n depth at the 3
If Davis wants to win then he needs to sign with the Bucks. Giannis and AD would be unstoppable together.
#FearTheDeer
I think Julius Randall is a allstar waiting to happen, and jru holiday is one of the most underrated twoway pg in the league....maybe AD needs to be robin to LBJ for a few years before he ready to LEAD!!!!!
He has more than enough offensively. NOP is 4th in ORTG. Their problem is defense (26th). Davis won his NCAA championship with defense. He was basically college-version Ben Wallace that year, and made that team an all-time great defense himself. That's what he needs to do to win in the NBA - and at his position he has ability to make them an elite defense himself like he did in college, by being a dominant rim protector. I know he avg a lot of blocks, but he allows 60% at the rim. While guys like Whiteside/Ibaka only only 49-50%. He needs to focus more on being an elite rim protector than being a scorer - and he has the talent to do it.. Instead of being a 29/12 guy with avg defense, be a 20/15 guy with elite rim protection. Do that and NOP will be one of best teams in the league. Same thing KG had to do in order to win in BOS.
"aaron Rodgers has a super bowl"..
The media needs to quit selling this false narrative that Anthony Davis doesn’t have any help. Over the last 2-3 seasons, he’s had plenty of help.
Last year Rondo and Jrue Holiday showed their worth when they completely stifled the Blazers back court. Jrue made Damian Lillard look unworthy of the All-NBA first team nod.
This offseason I knew the Lakers were going to let Randle walk and was a bit sad because he had been the best young player on our team. Dude is looking like a beast this season and is looking like a lock for 6th man of the year. Jrue Holiday is also continuing his great play from last year except now he doesn’t have to split control of the offense with Rondo (which wasn’t a bad thing btw). Understand they don’t have a super strong bench (and they are missing Mirotic), but Randle is averaging 20pts and 10rebs off the bench. How many teams can boast about having a player come off the bench and provide that type of energy and production? And the Pelicans beat the Timberwolves without AD the other night (yes they are the Timberwolves, but it further proves that the team has enough talent).
AD just isn’t a winner or at least a guy that can lead a franchise. He’s a second option. I’ve seen all I needed to see. He’s super talented. He has a skill set that could really allow people to compare him to other greats. However, there’s more to the game than just stats. Winning matters (it’s what separates good players from great players) and Anthony Davis isn’t a winner. Giannis is making things work with a comparable cast. The Rockets were struggling to start the season, but Harden has put the Rockets on his back and is one of the hottest teams in the league right now (has yet to prove this in the postseason when it really matters though). Jokic has the Nuggets looking like real contenders and the Pelicans have better talent on their roster. How many passes and excuses is he allowed?
At some point, the media has to start pointing the finger at AD 🤷🏽♂️
Good points. You may be right
Ad will turn that supermax down he needs to leave
Every time the guys try to comment that DAMN lady interrupts. Get her OUTTA THERE!!!!!!! Let the Guys talk.......
AD to LA is close it just feel it.
Chauncey needs to be president of somebodies operation in this league
It’s weird, you have to wonder if AD is as good as we think. If he’s really a top 5 player then his presence alone should be enough to carry a team. At least to a 0.500 record. Idk man
Maybe he doesn't know how to properly impose his will to win games. It's a different skill than putting up numbers.
AD, should go play with kyrie in Celtics
Damn, only one team wins the title every year. That's 12-15 guys out of 350+. Not everyone who's a great player is going to win like that.
He gave them a chance. Stop all the talk! You guys know that. Just be honest and say you can’t want him on the lakers.
So why go to the Lakers? It’ll be the same or worse for him in saying that we are better than what our records show
Didn’t age well
Brooklyn’s a good team
I like Rachel but one of them should’ve corrected her on that auction off, sh@t! And he had help last year, how much changed!
I want AD to win so badly. Much like Bron those first 4 years in cleveland before he took over the league in 07. Brow just needs more help. He needs it and deserves it.
Maybe it's the system and missing 1 or 2 more players.
They havent been healthy, he needs to give it one more shot. They were like 4-0 until EP got injured. Then Miro gets hurt. Now they got Randle starting whos better off coming off the bench. They will put a run together when healthy and thatll happen when Miro comes back
AD has help but two key guys injuried cause they was looking good before injury
If Sam Cassell didn't get injured in the playoffs I swear it woulda been Timberwolves vs Pistons in the 2004 finals.
Yeah as a Laker fan, I agree Cassell was a savvy high IQ player he had those Lakers on the rope with KG/spree/Wally I think that would of been best if lakers lost in the WCF. That laker team had no chemistry at all.
AD has checked out....u can tell, he’s ready to move on
Endless you have a lucky break, a good organization is primed to win a championship. If you have a dysfunctional management in the NBA it won’t work, even if it’s a big market. Anthony Davis is in a poorly managed organization, which is the reason for Demarcus leaving. Think about all the previous champions, Cleveland was a lucky break. But the Warriors, Mavericks, Heat, Lakers, Celtics and Spurs all had good team management. They still do.
Marrying Rachel would be the greatest accomplishment. She is honestly so wifey like damn
These players want it both ways, Max contracts and a great team and staff... I don’t feel bad for any of them, they care about money first then winning.
Billups should be a GM
