  • First piece using slurs! Note the difference between slurs and hooks. Practice slurs studies first in scales before applying them to Minuet in C. Also, note the difference between F# and F natural throughout the piece. Enjoy!

I don’t know why memorizing this song is so darn hard. You sound amazing. I’m using this video to learn. After a month it still feels like I’m sawing a tree down when I bow! :(

Just use lots of bow, and keep it away from the bridge! A lot of people are tempted to use very little bow when things get crunchy but the best way to solve that is to use full bow where ever you can!

@@MattGenders Thanks Matt. I will try this. I do cut it short on the bow.

I’m an unlikely Cellist who had been gifted a cello and during lockdown-ish COVID time started learning to play in late September 2020. I played violin as a kid and I am pleased to work 12 hour shifts so I don’t get as much practice as I would like. I miss the mask free days and small restaurants. Cello and I are bonding and what a great hobby it is as things are not back to normal. My vibrato and fingerings are in auto pilot and I am so happy to play the cello. Now that I am attempting to learn 2d positions. I was only an intermediate violinist at best as a kid because I had to switch to clarinet .(high intermediate) as schools cut orchestra and pushed band instruments. I am over 50 and end of boomer generations so in my grade one there were over 50 clarinets and I auditioned I would always make the top 5 and get to play the high flute-like parts, however I was good but no prodigy. I am teaching a family member to play clarinet (not my idea but I am doing this). I love play along cello. I can not believe the beautiful tones of the cello! I remember playing Suzuki Grenadiers on violin and Sooooo want to play it on the cello. I am getting compliments that I sound as good as the cellist that across the street at small church that was played at a wedding ! Who knew I could play cello? I have only recently picked up cello and clarinet as a coping method and refuge in these trying times. Thank you for making this video. Your music is beautiful and inspiring!
