They should have searched for "viola instrument", then they would've found David Aaron Carpenter playing Bach on the McDonald strad. It's so beautiful
they didn't even bother.
That would have spoiled the mandatory viola joke.
In fairness, several of the other "uncool" instruments got it just as badly or even worse.
That guitar they showed is actually named viola, so...
Can you give the link ?
True, but they only do this to maintain the tradition of ignoring the viola or making jokes. It is clear that the first viola results that appear on youtube are David Aaron Carpenter or even Dana Zemtsov or Forsyth viola concerto. They only do this for sheer comedy.
Never underestimate the power of little children constantly rewatching a video they like…
Yeah exactly. After all, the most viewed video on the whole CZcams is one of those 😂
*Baby shark do doo doo rings in the air*
In film school, in a "business of film" class, we had to discuss online platforms and argue which was better for filmmakers. Since I was arguing _against_ CZcams (vs. Vimeo), I looked up the most viewed videos to prove a point about original content getting lost in a sea of other stuff. It was something like 330 videos of kids TV shows and (pop) music videos before you got to literally ANYTHING else.
And the mothers who just click whatever is in the recommendation to keep their children quiet. I saw this too many times it is concerning 😭
🇧🇷4:00 The instrument is not a guitar. Here in Brazil the "complete" name, to not to be confused with the classical viola, is "viola caipira", from the family of "violas brasileiras". It has its origins in the "violas portuguesas". It is not a guitar because it has different body and scale dimensions, both smaller than the guitar and has 10 strings forming 5 orders, the first two orders being tuned in unison and the others with an octave difference. The standard tuning is also different. This ends up significantly differentiating the playing technique in relation to the guitar. It is an instrument widely used in Brazilian caipira music ('música caipira brasileira).

The thing about the “pop-country” viola music is that “viola” in Portuguese is a very popular traditional “country-music/sertanejo” instrument similar to the guitar (but smaller and with 12 strings).
In Portuguese, we call the classical viola “Viola de Arco” or “Bow viola”.
Geralmente são 10 cordas oitavadas em 5 grupos, a viola caipira. A de 12 cordas também é frequente mas é menos comum.
🇧🇷Just a fix: The standard "viola caipira brasileira", which is the most popular and classic version at the same time, has 10 strings, not 12.

Hearing/seeing/reading about the piccolo always reminds me of the time we were in Poland on an international folk-dance festival, and there was an Italian group, too. And in the hotel where the actual performing groups were accomodated, we woke up every morning at about 5-6AM to the Italians singing and playing their music, which, incidentally, included the piccolo. We were pissed, and I think it's needless to say we barely got any sleep, considering we stayed up until 1-2AM every night, drinking with the others. But the Italians were great to drink with.
Hello from Paris ! Fond of your videos ❤️
A viola in Brazil is a ten string guitar used for country music, it has roots from 1500's portuguese guitars.
very specific but I like guitar lol.
Also from that same era are the instruments viol de gambling and vihuela or vihuela de mano. Both are six stringed instruments. The bass viola is tuned the same way as a vihuela and the lute.
Gamba means leg in Italian, so the viole da gamba is played sitting held in your legs similar to a cello. The vihuela is more like a guitar and is held by your hands.
All of these instruments went by many names and influenced the development of each other.
I don’t really know if this is right but wouldn’t that be a “violão”?

This is the instrument that she was playing, it's similar to a guitar in appearance but with some differences. I went to the conservatory with Bruna Viola lol I was studying piano and she was studying "viola guitar" (yeah in brazil there's a type of guitar we call viola) and singing, we are from the same small town in the middle of Brazil called Cuiabá. In Brazil viola is both the viola from classical music and a type of guitar used in brazilian country music (called "sertanejo music"). her artistic name comes from that second instrument which she plays in that song ("Viola" isnt her actual name/surname and almost no girls get named 'Viola' in brazil unlike some other countries like the US);
(Btw guitar in brazil is "violão" which literally means "big viola" lol)

The second movement of Mozart’s clarinet concerto in A is one of the most beautiful things ever written, in my humble opinion. The sound of unfulfillable longing.
