At the end when Dusty Springfield sings:
“We don’t have to fall apart, we don’t have to fight
We don’t have to go to hell and back every night.”
That gets me every time!
🔥
Thats the best part
The legendary Dusty Springfield is what makes this song extra special . I really miss her sublime, unique soulful voice.
absolutely her part is what gets me moving.
Me too! Dusty was one hell 0f a woman singer and icon!
🎯
Dusty Springfield was featured on this song. She was a popular singer from the '60s with such hits as "I Only Want To Be With You", "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "Wishin' and Hopin'", and "Son of a Preacher Man". She died in 1999. RIP Dusty Springfield.
Wasnt this song written for the Movie about the true story of John Profumo affair in 1963 forget the name ( Scandal ?)
about the Cabinet member and two Prostitutes Christine Keeler and Mandy ?? And their connection to russian spies Profumo resigned his cabinet office.
@@andrewmstancombe1401 No, that would be Nothing Has Been Proved (written/produced by PSBs)
@@michaelenglish1992 It was from the same film and both songs are about the affair. This one from Stephen Wards perspective
@@andrewmstancombe1401 Yes it was
God bless dusty Springfield .
Girl, I appreciate you now taking a risk to listen to the great music. Pet Shop Boys needs to be listened by this generation of kids that dont know s...t about music now. Love from Mexico.
This is one of my favorite songs of the '80s. The Pet Shop Boys are awesome anyway and then they ask the legendary Dusty Springfield to sing on this track. To me, she made the song with her trademark soulful pop sound. RIP to an amazing musician.
Dusty Springfield... Miss that lady and her awesome voice!
Was lucky to see her in cov when I was 15 I'm now 70 x
really helped this song. So glad they used her, she needed it at the time. That's respect.
Thank you Pet Shop Boys for letting us hear the great Dusty Springfield one last time She and will always be in our hearts and will always miss you
Dayum.....great read!! RIP Dusty.......what a beautiful voice that was silenced...
This song was huge in 1987. I was one year out of high school. It was my favorite song of the entire year. I can't believe you reacted to it. Thank you!
This is my second favorite Pet Shop Boys song. Loved this one as soon as I heard it. Great chemistry between Neil Tennant and Dusty Springfield. My favorite is West End Girls.
Dusty Springfield made this song. She was so great.
..actually Pet Shop Boys "made" (imagined, wrote, produced) it, with Dusty as guest vocalist....
Yep, just beautiful! : )
@@Pacalo they also worked with Dusty on a few of her songs later on if I’m correct?
@@jozhieproductions yes of course..they produced half of her "Reputation" album ;). A great work!
@@jozhieproductions They collaborated with Dusty to sing the title soundtrack to the film, "Scandal".
Pet Shop Boys! They were great! Opportunities- Let make lots Of Money!
Pet Shop Boys are still great. Check out their new album Hotspot. Wonderful
This was The Pet Shop Boys featuring Dusty Springfield. A few years later the reverse was done with PSBs featuring on Springfields ‘Nothing Has Been Proved’.
They didn’t feature on it. They wrote it, she performed it.
Pet Shop Boys/Always On My Mind
better than the elvis version for me
More famous for keeping the greatest Christmas song ever being number one (fairytale of new york )
This has always been my favorite Pet Shop Boys song because I really love the song... and Dusty!
The singer is Dusty Springfield, a legend from the 60s in the United Kingdom, and a massive underground artist globally
This is the story of so many relationships, one gives and one takes endlessly! RIP Dusty, beautiful lady!
omg! you have to do, "west end girls".
India Reacts, Pet Shop Boy's convinced Dusty Springfield to come out of retirement to feature on this song. R.I.P. Dusty Cheers, Chris Perry.
The great Dusty Springfield recorded a couple of songs with the Pet Shop Boys a few years before she died.
I’m totally in love with Pet Shop Boys, they’re the innovators of New Pop and their music throughout the year just keeps getting better and better. Check out 2009’s Did You See Me Coming?
Yep. I'm still buying their albums today. They just brought out one this year. So my collection of theirs is pretty big!
back in the mid 90s, i had a discussion with a friend about them and he said their themes and musical sensibilities were ahead of their time.
Pet Shop Boys were one of my favorite from the back in the 80's.
Same. Pet Shop Boy's '80's
in later years they played much weaker. : (
:)
@@KristVladic They still shine if you give the chance to hear all they're still doing (even b-sides and alternative collaborations...). As an example, look for the song (hidden b-side of a recent single) "An Open Mind"... ;)
@@Pacalo Hi Pacalo :)
Well, unfortunately, I really like the music of Pet Shop Boys ..... but their recordings from the last 24 years are uninteresting, they don't shine.
But! Many of their older songs are evergreen.
Also this song and vid guest stars Dusty Springfield who sung Son of a Preacher Man!
Dusty Springfield!! OMG!! So wonderful that the PSB worked with her before she passed. She represented an incredible mid-60s sultriness - they don't make entertainers like her anymore - she was of a specific time and place - And so so good!
You would never know from listening to her that she was a peroxide blonde from London!
Please, please, please consider You Don't Have to Say You Love Me, Wishin' and Hopin', and Son of a Preacher Man.
Keep doing what you're doing, girl!
The three of them in one of the best collaborations ever!! One of their best songs. But EVERY song PSB made is the best!! Dusty' with that incredible voice brought the song to another level!!
Pet Shop Boys - Jealousy. Masterpiece.
The lyrics of this song is amazing... I felt like he knew what I was going through...
One of my favorite Pet Shop Boys song, with the goddess Dusty Springfield. Ooh, fast fact for you, India. The guy who played the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who, David Tennant, was a huge PSB fan, and took his stage surname, Tennant, from the singer, Neil Tennant, as his actual real surname is McCullough.
The song was co-written with American singer-songwriter Allee Willis who also wrote the Friends theme tune "I'll Be There For You" for The Rembrandts. Allee wrote the "Since you went away" verse.
And I believe they kept it for Dusty until they found her about a year or so later.
Yeah this song was popular and got a TON of airplay.
The Pet Shop Boys were First Division but the Premier attraction here was Dusty Springfield, a British icon of the 60's & 70's. RIP Dusty. You were a star.
God bless Dusty Springfield
R.I.P. Dusty Springfield
I'm a dedicated "PetHead" (what fans call themselves) since the 80s. I've seen them 6 times in concert.
Please check out Pet Shop Boys' "Love Comes Quickly" (1986) - a lovely song with great lyrics.
Bobbi H tbf hell of a song of theirs !
Yes!!!
Dusty Springfield is the godmother of all of the white British female soul singers with great voices!! She opened the door for singers like Joss Stone, Natasha Bedingfield, Lisa Stansfield, and Adele among others!! Lots of talent!
many experts and music historians say Dusty was the BEST female singer to come out of Britain. Of course, they could update it now, but in her time, she was the best. One hit song after another. There are some good videos on YT with a documentary type form. Really enlightening.
I absolutely 💯 agree.
"Now I can do what I want... Forever"
Pet Shop Boys, It’s a Sin is a must watch...
Pet Shop Boys were great, a song you might have heard is "West End Girls". They has several hits in the 80's. I loved "It's a Sin" it was SO over the top dramatic!
The woman featured in this song is the great Dusty Springfield. She had a lot of hits in the 60's. My favorite is "Son of a Preacher Man"
So much great 80's music the English have gave us! Love it all!!
Wow India , I remember you reacted to Dusty Springfield singing "Son Of a Preacher Man". And now Dusty again with The Pet Shop Boys. Another great song. I hope you can react to a few more of Dusty's songs. " You Don't Have to Say You Love me", "I Only Want to Be With You", "Spooky", "The Look Of Love" and so many more.
One of the greatest songs ever by Pet Shop Boys & Dusty Springfield i love this song india thanks😊
Love the Pet Shop Boys ...some of the best pop songs ever Being Boring is a personal favourite. Now that you've discovered Dusty Springfield ...you have to react to her back catalogue ...she was an incredible artist
Dusty is a legend. They were lucky to have her on their record.
Pretty sure they wrote this with her in mind. Given she hadn't had a hit for years, I'm pretty sure she felt lucky to be asked. At the time they were one of the biggest acts around in the U.K.
She was introduced to a whole new audience because of this. They did the same for Liza Minelli.
They knew it but they sought out great singers like her and Liza Minnelli and breathed new life into their careers. Dusty was broke at this point...
Charles Burris- not really, by this point her career had been over for years, while the Pet Shop Boys were one of the most successful acts in music. She benefited much more from them then they did from her.
@@MattSingh1 the song benefited from her though. I think they wanted to help, give her a hit and she was an icon.
Neil and Chris were/are HUGE Dusty Springfield fans. Regardless of where her career was in the 80s vs their career, I am sure they agree that they were lucky to have her on the record.
India is our cute little sunshine vitamin to brighten up our days! 💗🌞
For total FUN from the British tv series and movie by The Pet Shop Boys: Absolutely Fabulous and dance tune: Always on my Mind which gives you the FEELS.
Pet Shop Boys are still a very active duo. They are extremely critically acclaimed and listed in the Guinness Book Of World Records as the most successful duo in British history. They have written for and/or recorded with Tina Turner, Liza Minnelli, Elton John, David Bowie, Kylie, Yoko Ono...etc. They have a song called The Night I Fell In Love about Eminem and a male groupie. CNN actually played it for Dr. Dre on air when it was released! Chris Lowe, the blonde one, is an Eminem fan even though the duo are gay and Eminem has been accused being homophobic. Their 2016 album “Super” was named one of the top ten albums of the year by Rolling Stone magazine. American radio began ignoring them in the early 90’s though they still get plenty of critical acclaim to this day. They have retained their popularity elsewhere. Lady Gaga performed with them when they received a lifetime achievement award in England. The Survivors is a beautiful song, which I think you would love. There is an incredible amount of depth in their work.
Love this song! One of the 80's greats! 💯👍
I love how In older age Dusty gave up trying to be girly girly and just went full power lesbian
robert dawson no it was dusty as she got older I watched A documentary on her not too long ago she way a perfectionist that wouldn’t go anywhere without her signature hair and makeup she had quit music for years and was living with her girlfriend when the pet shop boy’s brought her back for this song
OmG thank you for this story.
This prove that leasbians who take showers and look great do exist!
You should react to Electronic - Getting Away With It. Good job selecting this song. This is a song that I feel that deserves airplay in retro stations. This has been in my 80s rotation for some time.
Good suggestion
I think it might be more exciting if she has some New Order under her belt first.
@@oneironaut420 - I think a lot people forgot about that collaboration though. I know I did. Until it landed in my reccomend list maybe 5 years back.
Yes, definitely West End Girls!
The Pet Shop Boys joke - how many Pet Shop Boys does it take to change a light bulb?
Two - one to replace the bulb, and one to look bored.
Hearing this today again..trying to get through virgin ears that never heard it before makes me remember when I first herad it as a "new release" back on 1987. What a BLASTER song it was! fabulous in all levels. Pet Shop Boys con do no wrong on that days..perfection on every song! ;)
I agree. This song was TRULY shocking for me...
Adore PSB and was so fun watching you vibe to them. My favorite of theirs is "Red Letter Day" because the lyrics just ... they are just so good. Rock on.
Another great Pet Shop Boys and Dusty Springfield collaboration: NOTHING HAS BEEN PROVED.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Pet Shop Boys my absolute favorite. MORE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! How about West End Boys.
I was in the 6th grade when this came out. I remember listening to it on the radio many times and it's funny how the songs we grew up with are the soundtracks of our lives. We associate certain songs with experiences we were having at the time. So I was 12 years old and I had a crush on a girl who was in the 7th grade. At some point it was revealed to her that I liked her and basically I was laughed at. She laughed at me. I felt such a dreaded sense of rejection. This song reminds me of that. But it's still a great song and I could listen to it a thousand times. It just really conjures up memories of that transitional period when I was starting to go through puberty. I am so glad I grew up in the 80's.
India some great songs by Pet Shop boys are BEING BORING,HEART, GO WEST,ALWAYS ON MY MIND.LEFT TO MY OWN DEVICES.....
My favorite Pet Shop Boys songs are Dreaming of the Queen, and Absolutely Fabulous! They are such a great band!!
Love love love PSB's pure class, that british accent
the great Dusty
Dusty who is the female singer was very famous. She was deported from South Africa because she refused to sing to segregated audiences. I think she had it written into her contact that she would never play to segregated audiences. Well done Dusty!
Dusty Springfield was a wonderful woman singer, guitar player, singer, dancer, and I could go on. RIP DUSTY SPRINGFIELD 😢 😭😢🧡💜💜🎼🎵🎵🎸🎶❤
Thank you Paul Mason!
I'm new to your channel. I've watched a lot of reaction videos but yours is by far the most real, emotional and honest reactions I've seen yet. I'm done with the others. Thank you. Sending love and light from south Georgia USA. ❤❤
India....I like Pet Shop Boys but Dusty Springfield is a LEGEND! I was thrilled to see and hear her again on this song.
I remember those days. Definitely remember hearing it on the radio new.
Summer '87. Great time
Dead or alive ...you spin me right round !
17 cruising in my Camaro jamming these guys and all those awesome English bands! Thanks for bringing back good memories, music and enjoying your reactions. ☮️Edit:Check out Human Nature Human
Dusty’s little cat growls and riffs at the end take it to another level. Flooded the dance floor back in the day.
Pet Shop Boys. Dusty Springfield (RIP). India Reacts. Perfection.
Please do more PSB! Love them. Try Always On My Mind.
Great reaction, please do more Pet Shop Boys :)
Your interpretation is spot on. (Especially your words straight after the song.) Sometimes we are 'stuck' in a relationship (friendship) in exactly the way you describe. Indeed, "What have I done to deserve this?" :(
Best , all time synth , dance band (duo).
Dusty Springfield, what a woman. Love Pet Shop Boys, still going strong.
Great job! One of my all time favorite songs. 😊👍
Love. This. 1980s. Song. ... That's Dusty Springfield singing the female part with the Pet Shop Boys. You have reacted to Dusty Springfield's 1968 hit "Son of a Preacher Man." I also recommend her big 1964 hit called "Wishin' and Hopin'."
so many hits. "you don't have to say you love me", it's a classic.
One of my favorite PSB recordings, and at that time I really loved them for providing Dusty Springfield with this awesome opportunity to return to recording. At this point in time she had not released a new record in over 10 years, I believe. She was one of the top pop vocalists in England in the 1960's and had great success here as well. I recommend you check out "Son Of A Preacher Man."
PSB's collaborations with Dusty were great, I thought. She had nothing left to prove and they were already riding high, so it was really about putting two gems together.
Dusty Springfield.... ICON!
One of the greatest pop duo's from the 80's to present day! Incredible music! Hit after hit!
I'm so grateful you reacted to this treasured song.
Such a beautiful and deep analysis.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy your journey through The decades of The Pet Shop Boys.
They were crazy fun in the 90s!
Pet shop Boys, Domino Dancing, Jealousy, Rent, Heart, that's just a few you should react to
Domino Dancing... wow, i forgot that one.
Yeah, i want a reaction, but... im gonno go listen to that now because I'm impatient
I'm listening to it right now
I'm a big Pet Shop Boys fan! Discovered them in 2016 and have listened to all of their albums and love all of their old and new work. I highly recommend watching their other music videos. as some of them are really fun and visually interesting! Some of them get a bit wacky because of early 90s CGI (I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing and Can You Forgive Her?) but others like Left To My Own Devices, Being Boring, and It's A Sin are really creative and work well with the songs!
You'll notice in their other videos, especially from the 80s and 90s where Neil does most of the singing in the video and Chris stands in the background lol! But you simply can't separate them and they work incredibly well together and have been friends for over 30 years now!
Loved your thoughts and reaction to the video and would love to see more of your reactions to their other works!
You should listen to some of Dusty's solo work. Songs to suggest, "You don't have to say you love me", "Going Back", Son of a Preacher Man", to name but a few.
Still such an incredible band 😀
Pet Shop Boys have so many fantastic songs, and while their style is unique and quite strong, their song catalog is quite varied.
"Opportunities", "West End Girls", and "It's a Sin" are bona fide hits, US as well as UK. Dig just a little deeper, and "Being Boring", "Rent", "Suburbia" (a personal favorite), "Love Comes Quickly", "One More Chance", "Later Tonight", "King's Cross", "How Can You Expect to be Taken Seriously", "Single", "Can You Forgive Her", "I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing".. so many great songs.
If I had to pick a next song to try, though, it'd be "Se a Vida e'" - the song is pure joy. "Single" has amazing percussion, that one as well.
Taking me back to when I lived in Germany, when new wave tech type synthesizer music was the thing. Always LOVED the harmony in this. Love this, had it on tape lol!
Thank you for recognizing this song from The Pet Shop Boys. A lot of people are asleep to this track here! Again thank you. R.I.P. to Dusty Springfield.
This song I believe is not about Dusty or the Pet Shop Boys but for the souls who can relate to this song.I most definitely do and I believe that that's what they would want to hear as a fan as their music. This song hits a home run for me a nod my life.Thank you Pet Shop Boys and Dusty and of course the young lady who posted this video.
One of my all time favourite 80's bands!
Listening to many of my faves in the 80s in live concerts on YT it strikes me; they can all sing, no autotune, just pure voice
Pet Shop Boys are solid gold
The great British talent Dusty Springfield singing duet, already made a big name for herself so she was perfect for this besides that beautiful voice
Great vid,btw this relationship story of the song it really applies to me because I feel the same as him. Great vid!
I've always liked this one. It got steady airplay back in 1987 on 106.7 KROQ here in So Cal. They did a song in 1988 called "Domino Dancing". I think you'll like it.
Love The Pet Shop Boys
I only knew one song by Pet Shoppe Boys, "West End Girls", but this singer has a great voice. Love his accent.
I love your reaction 😍🙌🏽
Fantastic song and Dusty awesome
Thanks for trip back to my senior year in high school. The Pet Shop Boys are awesome and you need to react to West End Girls, It's a Sin, Go West and Always on my Mind. I always enjoy your reactions to these videos. You have an old Soul.
Peter shop boys "Before" and "Love comes quicky"
