Now you have to see and hear how they paired up with Dusty Springfield in their official music video WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS? it helped revive Dusty's long career.
My favorite song of all time. Epic.
YES.
Plus songs like Let's Make Lots of Money, Heartbeat, Can You Forgive Her, and maybe Being Boring.
Yes! One of my favourites too!
Oh yes!
Great video with that fun, punchy sound of PSB. Loved watching Dusty Springfield...a cherished idol of us 60's kids. Sadly 12 years after this she passed from breast cancer.
Their cover of Always On My Mind is not only an amazing version of the song, but was also a gigantic club hit in the 80s! Please react to it!! 😊
Yeah, I'm a big Elvis fan and didn't think I was going to like that cover back in the day, but it is really good.
My first boyfriend died when he was 36 and I was 31. He picked some opera and some pop music for his funeral. He was a wonderful man but he did struggle to express emotions. It wasn’t until maybe 20 years later that I realised that he chose this to be the final song of his funeral as his very public goodbye to me and a declaration of his love to me in front of his family and our friends - it said all the things he deeply felt but couldn’t always put into words: “… Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should.
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could……you were always on my mind….tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn’t died.” I grieved and fell in love again, but of course I’ll always love that wonderful man. We both loved PSBs so it was a perfect goodbye.
Pet Shop Boys are still a gigantic band. They are currently on a world tour that has now almost lasted 3 years. In the summer of 2023, they gave a sold-out greatest hits show in Copenhagen in front of 17,000 fans. It was shot via 14 cameras and will be in cinemas worldwide for two days as a concert film. They always put on a great show. I've seen them 18 times live so far. Check out this link about the movie:
czcams.com/video/r71Hsb-r3y0/video.html
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "What Have I Done to Deserve This?"(ft. Dusty Springfield) and "Always On My Mind"!!
edit- you reacted to their "It's A Sin", Oct 2, 2022.
Better by a mile than this selection IMHO
Followed by So Hard, Being Boring and their Willie Nelson cover of Always on My Mind.
And then check out Getting Away With It by Electronic ft NeilTennant (Pet Shop Boys singer) with Bernard Sumner (New Order singer/Joy Division guitarist) and Johnny Marr (The Smiths guitarist, also worked with The The, Hans Zimmer...).
@@csn10 "Disappointed" is also such a great Electronic track !
Agreed. Their best 2 songs
BEING BORING is the best video/track of theirs. They have so many fantastic songs but that is their absolute best.
Another vote for Being Boring, incredible record and great video, the lyrics are really moving as well. Neil Tennant's fave PSB track and one of Axl Rose's favourites songs as well!
OH; YEA - BEING BORING IS Be in HEAVEN
Absolutely I agree with you. One of the bests songs I listen.
Adoro being boring
@@nickhulston5842The Pet Shop Boys are poets..
Ah, the 80's.
80's were cooler than today.
Except for AIDS and the Cold War
Word.
Always been a huge fan of Pet Shop Boys! They're just such legends of 80's electronic synth/alternative! "Suburbia" and "Opportunities" from their debut album are absolute bangers, but there are so many others. Tennant and Lowe are just masterminds of the genre.
"alternative"? They are pure pop, not even vaguely alternative.
Suberbia is the best song for me.
@@gartgreenside3657 I disagree. At the time when "West End Girls" first came out?, I think they were given more air play on alternative stations than they were pop stations. It was only later after their music became more "popular" that they began to filter more into the mainstream. I was a teenager at the time, but its just my humble opinion.
Yes, you beat me to it. Opportunities and Suburbia are my all time Pet Shop Boys favs!
@gartgreenside3657 before their songs were played on mainstream radio, they were played on alternative stations first. Same happened to so many alt bands even Echo, New Order, etc.
It's safe to say, ANY song from Petshop Boys is a hit.
These guys put out hit after hit.
This version of the song only runs for about 4:20 mins. I think many of you will love the 7:47 min. extended version. Here is a small list of great PSB songs
that you may not have ever heard before: 1) Miracles 2) King's Cross 3) The Resurrectionist (Extended Mix) which runs 5:41 min.) 4) Did You See Me Coming
5) Was It Worth It (Go to the version from the Discography CD). Enjoy!
The extended version is my favourite!
BEST Synth Duo , they have so many great tracks and they are great live.
Erasure are better
@cameroncopus9737 seen them 5 times live.
One of my FAVORITE Pet Shop Boy songs, ever! And I agree with a lot of the other comments I've seen so far, you absolutely have to react to "What Have I Done to Deserve This?", it's a classic. "Opportunities" is another one that is incredible by them.
Hi Jay and Amber, The Pet Shop Boys are Neil Tennant on vocals dnd Chris Lowe on keyboards, They're both in their 60s now but they are still going strong today in 2024 😄😄
Another great one by them is It's a Sin 😄😄
They have already done It's A Sin
Neil Tenant is actually going to turn 70 this June and Chris Lowe 65.
Oh I love Neil's voice, saw them in december, they're still spectacular as always ❤
I saw them in the Summer at the Eden Project and they blew me away!!! The light show was awesome as well 😍
YES! They were a very innovative influential band of the 80’s. Other comments are dead on on with the recommendation of their pairing with Dusty Springfield in “What Have I Done (to deserve this)”. Awesome song. A must hear.
The producer of this song, Lewis Martinée, also produced many of Exposé's hits.
One of the nicesr songs EVER....amazing beat, voice and ununsual sound over all. Seen them 4 times live...ALWAYS superb! Greetings from warm Brazil.
Yes, you also did It's A Sin which you both loved. You should revisit that one! Amazingly, the Pet Shop Boys are still together and still making amazing music. Glad you both are fans now!
I was going to mention this was thier 3rd reaction also… thought I was losing my mind.
Happy you got to the Pet Shop Boys. This song is AWESOME! Yet their very best songs that you have not yet done are “OPPORTUNITIES (Let’s Make Lots of Money”, and “SUBURBIA” and “WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS”. Their music is much more modern sounding than anything in 2023-24.
For me SUBURBIA is the best Pet shop boy song
@@epanganable I love SUBURBIA too. My very favorite is probably IT’S A SIN followed by OPPORTUNITIES. But SUBURBIA without a doubt is an absolutely great song.
Love etc. from 2009 shoes they're still putting out the hits.
Yes! Suburbia, thank you for remembering!
@@SweetThing I had never heard LOVE ETC. Glad you mentioned it. I just listened to it on my Amazon music app. It’s really good. I just added it to my playlist. Thanks!
Please, please do 'It's Alright' by Pet Shop Boys.
I'm so glad you have done another PSB song. Isn't Chris Lowe just a synth master? Some of the sounds he gets out of them are superb, just like Vince Clarke from Erasure. They have done so many classic songs.
Neil Tennent’s voice appears on a collaboration band called Electronic……he takes lead on “ Disappointed” and backing vocals on “Getting Away With It” both great songs
They had loads of hits, some of my favourites are:
"It's a Sin",
The Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield "What Have I Done to Deserve This?",
"Heart",
"Rent",
"Always On My Mind",
"Opportunities",
"Left to My Own Devices",
Dusty Springfield with The Pet Shop Boys "Nothing Has Been Proved".
There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.
It's actually so wild how many great songs they have. I personally can't think of another band that has as many
@@cassu6 Yes, they have loads, such a great band, I don't think that they get the recognition which they deserve these days.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Definitely a more "obscure band" at least amongst people my age (20s) and in my country. Funnily only learnt of these guys due to my grandpa having a lot of 80s music on vinyl.
Pretty sure none of my friends know of these guys, although they might've heard one or two of the more popular songs.
@@cassu6 I agree, that's where channels like this one are good, it's a great way of discovering artists which you may never heard of. Luckily you had the opportunity to hear their music due to your Grandfather having their records otherwise it might have passed you by as with many other artists work.
One of their best is "Left to My Own Devices" -- unbelievable production. They are still very popular today-- you should check out their 2020 song "Monkey Business", very cool video. By the way, they will be releasing their 15th album later this year.
Totally, i cannot wait for the next album, it will be totally fantastic.
Ley to My Own Devices is pure Trevor Horn magic. If you can see the live video of the princes trust concert of 2004 of this song. It’s the unique time when PSB performance the song with the orchestra.
One of my favorite bands ever. I am so happy you are getting into them. I've been lucky enough to see them a few times, but my favorite live memory of them was a few years ago in Southern California. They played Domino Dancing for an encore, brought the house lights up and let the audience sing the song with them. It was so tribal, nostalgic and beautiful. EVERYONE was dancing and singing at the top of their lungs and there was such a sense of togetherness and community, it brought me to tears. Love you both and all you do! Cheers!
Excellent band! I remember when they came out with "West End Girls" and made their rounds on the MTV rotation their sound was just so unique. And from there they made so many great songs - "Suburbia", "What Have I Done to Deserve This (with Dusty Springfield)", "Opportunities", "Rent", "New York City Boy"
Please react to their 1988 pop/dance classic "Always On My Mind". It's one of the best cover songs ever and one of the Pet Shop Boys' best songs. You will love it.
"What Have I Done to Deserve This"
"Opportunities"
"Go West"
"Always On My Mind"
They also produced a fabulous Liza Minnelli album...my personal fave from that is "Rent" (which is actually a cover of one of their own songs)
Check out “Opportunities,” “It’s a Sin,” “Suburbia,” and “What Have I Done (to Deserve This).” All great Pet Shop Boys songs! Also, the lead singer Neil Tennant performed with another group called Electronic, with Johnny Marr from The Smiths and Bernard Sumner from New Order. They’ve got some good songs as well.
loved the Pet Shop Boys since the 80s. their albums were so good, i still listen to this day
Somebody else has already said this but you should listen to their cover of "Always on My Mind" and their duet with Dusty Springfield "What Have I Done to Deserve This". Also "Love Comes Quickly".
They will LOVE
Neil's vocals on Love Comes Quickly.
I agree. I also love "Can You Forgive Her?" from 1993
Oooooo...Yessssss!
One of my very favorites from PSB.
Neil's voice is so uniquely sublime.
Completely sophisticated, yet soothing.
God, I'm so old... I was like 16 when this was out, a lot of memories... this old videos from that time were little movies, si well made. Hugs for you guys!
They've just been here in Latinamerica on Tour, and of course I went to see them with my wife, for the first time Live! In Santiago de Chile.
And we really enjoy it!!! Was amazing. They ended the show saying "Somos los Pet Shop Boys" to the public in Spanish. They are still great.
My Favorites are "Rent" and "What Have I done to deserve this". I hope you react to them someday. Regards! 🙂
What Have I Done to Deserve This featuring Dusty Springfield.
Yayy!! Its one of the PSB's best songs but wasn't played on the radio very much in 1989. I'm so happy you chose this one tonight. ❤
Yay, about time. I knew you guys were going to reach Domino Dancing in this New Year, 2024. Thanks for hearing our suggestions.
Great PSB song! Thank you 🥰. And to answer Jay, well we didn't have FB, Instagram, TikTok, etc, etc... so yes, we did go out often and had ALOT of fun (which cannot come back to haunt us, since we didn't have FB, Instagram... 😅)!!!
And I thank the Good Lord that they didn’t exist back then. 😂✌️
Definitely!!! 😇😂 @@andymageen5308
39 years a fan. All time favourite band. I’m going to see them live end of the month. ❤
Yesss, such a great song ! It's from Pet Shop Boys so-called imperial phase when Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe had a string of No.1 hits and thought they had found the perfect formula.
They are still going strong in Europe today and their shows are so much fun, filled with tons of hits and great tunes.
P.S. You already did "It's a sin" too, not just West End Girls.
And pssst, dear Amber, they are not really ladies men 😄🌈
Yeah and the video storyline kinda sends a lot of hints especially at the end. Funny how things went over our heads in the 80s, lyrically and the videos.
@@MichaelCDavis1 yes! I was like, oh ok so this story line has ended with the 2 guys “fighting” shirtless in the surf..okayyy 😂
You should also give a listen to the work Neil did with Bernard Sumner (New Order) and Johnny Marr (The Smiths) for Electronic. Disappointed and Getting Away With It are standouts.
I have Electronic... Disappointed. Absolutely love it
The new wave british invasion of the 80's can't get enough, 😂 I see lots of requests for "What Did I Do To Deserve This" with the great Dusty Springfield it's a most see. So many hits, so little time please do more. Thanks for "Domino Dancing" another great. Peace✌️ and Love❤ Gary😍
I love this song. I have this in the car and play it on hot summer nights!!
Great choice. 😁
I am 50+ years old and in my life I have listened to a lot of music and songs, but this one....this is and will be my favorite...and I finally see a reaction from it...thank you!!
It's a Sin is THE BEST THING they ever did. Heartbeat and You Were Always On My Mind are both really great too, What Have I Done to Deserve This (with Dusty Springfield) is pretty essential, and Go West is SO MUCH FUN too.
I promise, you won't find a bad Pet Shop Boys track, and they have released hundreds. They're truly one of the best acts ever to come from Britain, true artists.
Another song they did was called Confidential. It was covered by Tina Turner with vocals provided by Neil Tennant and both he and Chris Lowe played keyboard on the track.
Love the fact that Pet Shop Boys ventured in the latin freestyle music genre for this track, which was big between 1985-1988.
Thanks guys for doing this!! This is one of my all time favorite songs and videos!! I can't get enough of this!!!The music and video are magnificent!! Songs don't come any better than this!!
The Pet Shop Boys has one of my favorite Christmas songs “It doesn’t often snow at Christmas “
The singer - Neil Tennant - and Sting are from the North East of England, and both went to the same school (St Cuthbert's) in Newcastle (UK) so they both sing with a bit of a Geordie accent which tones their voices.
Depeche Mode live in concert “never let me down again”. I guarantee you’ll love it
My favourite pet shop boys song. Seriously underrated but a banger. Thanks for this! Left To My Own Devices is their next single released in 1988 and definitely worth a listen to by you guys. ♥️♥️♥️
"It,s asin " is a Pet shop boys must hear it,s awesome.
“It’s Alright” is a great tune…my favourite by the Pet Shop Boys
"It's A Sin" and "Love Comes Quickly"
Legendary band! Lovely❤
What have i done to deserve this? would blow any of the songs out of the water !!! Just read a few comments below here. I first started hearing my brother listening to your videos. I was like what is that you are watching. Now i have can say i have seen more than he has now. I love the pink floyd shirts!!! Thanks for the chill time at home, its what i watch most on you tube! GO LIONS!
This is one of the Pet Shop Boys songs that kind of got "left behind" as us Gen Xers moved into the 1990's. Another one is " Love Comes Quickly" from 1986.
Saw them at Hollywood Bowl last summer with New Order. I have video of the entire venue singing the Domino Dancing chorus! Epic concert!
Amazing electronic band! I hope you will revisit The Cure and especially Depeche Mode again!!
PSB - confident in their own skin, sounds, imagery and with a loyal audience
Their big hit I remember was "West End Girls".
A more recent release of the Pet Shop Boys "Thursday ft. Example". I just stumbled upon it on a playlist. Another great song, cool progression and rhythm.
Jay, I agree about the Latin feel of Domino Dancing. Please check out the Pet Shop Boys’ amazing collaboration with Dusty Springfield, What Have I Done To Deserve This. It’s a gorgeous song. I also strongly recommend Always On My Mind, Left To My Own Devices and Go West!
Nice song to start my week. Happy Monday morning from UK.
Tennant said, in an interview, they wrote this for Madonna but, then backed out if submitting it. I've wanted to hear her cover it, since then.
Nostalgia overload! Taking me back to taping songs off the radio on a Sunday evening in the 80s❤
Not sure if anyone has commented on this yet but this song came about as The Pet Shop boys were touring America and kept hearing the group Expose' (who you reacted one song to before) and they liked them so much they contacted thier producer to help them create an Expose' vibe to the song.
Jay and Amber, you have also reacted to Pet Shop Boys' 'It's a Sin'. I highly recommend the Pet Shop Boys' songs "Left to My Own Devices', 'So Hard', Always on My Mind, 'Suburbia', Jealousy' and 'Where the Streets Have No Name' and 'Being Boring'.
These two are one many legends of the 80’s
You are correct indeed noticing the Latin sound. This was in the heart of the mid to late 80’s when Madonna was mega successful appealing the Latin sound with horns , guitars etc. Think La Isla Bonita and also groups like Expose. It was huge in Miami Music Scene and this video was shot In Puerto Rico and the guy behind a lot of the creativity for video was Bruce Webber
“Opportunities” from them would be a great one to check out next (it was featured in a car commercial a couple of years ago)
The Pet Shop Boys always had the best remixes. Also, this song came out during the Latin boom in pop music with Miami Sound Machine and Expose.
Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite Pet Shop Boys songs.
My I suggest, What Have I done To Deserve This as your next Pet Shop Boys reaction.
Listen to the Pet Shop Boy's "Love etc" from 2009! It is a vibe with a message. The Pet Shop Boys are still putting out hits! They never had a bad song..
I grew up in the 70s,80s . class of 81. The club scene was tough. AIDS, Nuclear Winter, END TIMES , and after surviving all the excess (and massive credit card debt), we still played actually real instruments, and people could actually SING! And party!
I miss the 80's, so much... Love me some Pet Shop Boys!
This is one of the best produced songs of the 80s. Mighty Chris Lowe, the Kaiser on the synthesizer.
Domino Dancing was produced by Lewis A
Martineé who most famously produced Exposé. PSB + the Miami sound ❤
You'll also be surprised to know Pet Shop Boys are still around and creating great music. And they didn't bother trying to change with the times since their sound was always better than the fads that have come and gone. ❤
The Pet Shop Boys worked with producer Lewis Martinee for this one. They worked with Martinee because he had produced Expose's dance pop hits like Come Go With Me ( which you have done), Point of No Return, Exposed to Love and Let me be the One (all of which you should check out--Expose perfect for Female friday) and wanted to have some of Expose's sound for this song.
Pioneers ... for sure! They brought new souds. AHEAD OF THEIR TIME!!!
I always loved PSB and this is one of my favorite their songs ever. ❤🇦🇷
Hey guys, thanks for doing another request. This one is fun. I do suggest "It's A Sin" next. Such a great 80's sound and band. Song Suggestion: Erasure--Chains Of Love.
They’ve already done It’s a Sin.
So… you can never have too many Andy Gibb reactions. I think Amber would love his song “Everlasting Love”. Andy was my very first concert. I was 15 and absolutely loved him.
Love your chemistry, your energy your channel, total blessing coming across your road. Please never stop ! Big hello from Los Angeles!!
One of my favourite groups of the 80's. Definitely check out their duet with Dusty Springfield - 'What Have I Done to Deserve This?' Also 'Suburbia', 'Left to my Own Devices', 'Rent' and 'Opportunities '
One of my favourite songs. Reminds me of being on holiday in Portugal and this was played on MTV Europe everyday 🤩 For an 80s pop vibe, I would recommended you give Mel & Kim That’s The Way It Is a listen.
Saw PSB live last summer and they still absolutely kill it.
I second the request for you guys to do their duet with Dusty Springfield ‘What Have I Done to Deserve This?’ and also their BIGGEST hit in the UK, their cover of the Elvis classic ‘Always On My Mind’, which is unlike anything you’d expect if you know the original.
This video was filmed in Puerto Rico!🇵🇷
That was filmed in Puerto Rico! Isn't PR beautiful? Definitely a Latin feel.
One of their many, many hits
Pet Shop Boys said they were influenced by the latin sound going on at the time. A song of the times, and what a great time it was.
Pet Shop Boys- "Love Comes Quickly". Get It Next ...
I remember going to one of my favorite spots in the 80s and loving the video for this song. It was so sexy to me. The long version of the song is a banger.
Love etc. from album "Yes"
I like this group, they’re from England, I love groups from there…The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd & Procol Harum all became famous in the 60’s, besides The Beatles & so many other British bands, which you guys have played some of their songs. You guys do a good job! 👏👏💜💜
Another big Pet Shop Boys fan here. My favorites were 1) Can You Forgive Her 2) I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind of Thing 3) Heart 4)Rent.
J and Amber, Oh yeah!!! Pet Shop Boys still making a huge splash 40 years later!! As other RSR members have said, these guys are TOURING and their Copenhagen Concert Filmed 🎥 July 7th, 2023 is being shown in theaters!! AMC near me has January 31st and February 4th!! Check your local theaters and listings!! It looks very cool 😎
@RobSquadReactions
The video of this song was filmed entirely in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Even the City of San Juan police horse patrol agreed to have a role in the actual video besides offering security to the production team while on location.
Not just from England but both are proudly from the North of England 🙂
