    4 years later, you sir, saved my ass (and my headset). Thank you a ton!!!!

  • @muhammadshairaaziabdmuin1915

    another trick just separate the handlebar from the stem, then twist the stem anticlockwise so that the cap n the bolt will follow.

    Hi great video, I need some help please on removing a rounded off bolt on a Shimano desire FC-M590. I only have hand tools, the small Allen bolt is stuck on the smallest chain ring. Thank you!

    • @BikeTeacher

      Those are tricky without the right tools and some gung ho confidence. What needs to happen is for the flat head to be removed ultimately without compromising the chainring or hole if a priority. I would try to grind the head off carefully or just enough material to weaken the bolt. Then use a bladed chisel or sharpened flathead screwdriver and a hammer to smack the rest of it off. You may also be able to use a drill to remove most of the bolt head material. It's not an easy task. Or if you can get a hold of the correct size tool like in the video and be patient. Use safety glasses!

    What about if one of the safety nuts are the ones that are stripped?

    • @BikeTeacher
      @BikeTeacher  Před 4 lety

      Safety nut?, do you mean the threads in the stem? For that you may use a tap set. Like this? czcams.com/video/3qtsuQ1yQFQ/video.html

      Lil update. i managed to remove mine. what i did is i use Flat headed screwdriver and a hammer
      try hammering its wall sides the (allen's) with flat headed screwdriver
      when fits in the gap you made.
      now you can try unscrewing it.
      but before unscrewing it. loosen the stem bolts first unscrewing Top cap with a stem bolts tight wont work.

      Yes another tool because even if you worked out your fingertips for a few decades you'd still be much better off with a tool don't be retarded

    It would be easier if you loosen the stem. Morever You are cheating , as no on has this kind of bottom cap design.

    • @Thecrazyvaclav
      @Thecrazyvaclav Před 3 lety +1

      He said three or four times it's a specialized specific cap, so I'm going to say specialized use this on some of their bikes, so your " no one uses this design cap" comment is wrong.
