- Ensuring that your electric bike or electric mountain bike's headset and bearings are compressed properly to your headtube is a massive safety concern. If not properly installed, the front end of your bike could come apart at the worst moments. If you can feel a knock or rocking when you brake or steer, it's time to hop off and inspect the headtube and bearings. Hector walks you through everything you need to do to check your headset and recompress the bearings correctly if needed. He'll explain how not to overtighten and damage the star nut, what the anatomy of your headset and headtube are, and how to get you back on the road or trail as soon as possible.

Thank you very helpful my quitekat felt very wobbly now it’s good as new thank you.
Had a great ride the other evening, my road bike was quiet and humming along great. Checked the headset for movement and there seemed to be some on the top near the stem. But the ride had been flawless. So, I did a complete service of the headset since it was two year. Sadly, it was more loose on top and below. Then tried your method to reset the compression using weight on top with the fork and wheel on the ground. Bingo, everything is solid and tight.
Thanks so much for your great work and the super excellent tip!
You save my new ebike, almost return but i did fix it by watching your video. Thank you!
This is so important! Thanks for the tips Hector
I check my headset bearings before and after every ride, especially if I’m riding through rough terrain.
