- I really do hate this game in VR lol. Just the atmosphere totally creeps me out!! Playing this in the Sony PSVR2. The gun play in the game is pretty good, the way the do the auto animations is not though!!

I played this for 6 hours straight last night (through till 7am!), loved it... explored every inch which I just breezed by on flat screen when I half played it in the past. Much better in VR. Am currently in the castle at the first save room (castle model). I'm glad to see I'm not as bad in VR horror as I used to be (i.e dread halls which had me noping out on dk2)... but I got through rush of blood on PSVR1 which is much worse than RE8 so I guess I'm safe now with VR horror.
I want to try the PC mod version of this but most horrors I can't play. Saints and Sinners and zombies is fine, as was Wilson's Heart, but stuff like Paranormal Activity, The Exorcist and even Affected the Manor just scared the crap out of me. Looking at this game, I feel I could play it, it's more zombies/monsters it seems than paranormal so less scary for that reason.
Haha I had constant chills the whole time lol, just the sounds creeped me out lol
@@RenderedReality I'm a big Stephen King and John Carpenter fan... so I kinda thrive on horror so this just felt atmospheric to me (which I love) esp all the noises, creaks and outside wind. The lycans getting up in your grill is a bit tense though and did cause an expletive or two to leave my mouth on the first full-on encounter in the barn!
@@kevinbrook7033 Exactly! I'm far more 'scared' by ghost stuff... esp things with tense jump scares (jump scares in VR are a big turn-off for me but Rush Of Blood got away with it), RE8 can be intense, sometimes frantic, often creepy but mostly atmospheric (depending on your tolerance to this stuff), the scariest part (so far) is the faces of the lycan when they're trying to get in the windows, they are very well done, and graphically 'real' vs a lot of games, but feel more like an action enemy than an intangible/unknown force that messes with your mind. I think a lot of people would be ok with RE8 even if they had issues with stuff like dread halls, rush of blood etc... also it's paced out so lots of 'downtime' exploring and soaking up the atmosphere not a constant barrage of scares. It probably helps if you already played through lots of it through, which I had on flatscreen, so knew there wasn't much to worry about (up to the point I quit in the past for other reasons)... I hear there is one part in it that gets pretty hairy but we'll see lol!
I kept off from playing the flat screen version so everything that's happening is completely unexpected. The pantaloons are slowly browning the further I go
Same here, never played it flat. It's extremely creepy in VR. Horror games give a whole new meaning to immersive.
I played this for like an hour at my friends house and I’m still waiting for my PSVR2 so come through the mail but I’ve never even played the game normally so I can’t wait to play it and my first experience will be with vr
My first experience in this game was in VR as well, and my goodness does it creep me out haha
cant wait to play this game. played the previous one in vr and was my best gaming experience ever. I finished that in like 2 months .sometimes I had to take 2-3 days off I got sooo scared a couple times especially when the old lady was screaming to my face. 🤣🤣 I love that game. Cant wait to play again on psvr2 and also this one. I hope they will update the previous one to psvr2.
I do hope they update the previous one to PSVR2 as well. These games creep me out though haha
Hey dude, so I got my headset today, and just a question, after you we're done playing, was there a red mark near the top of your nose? Im not sure I was wearing the headset wrongly or if I'm gonna look like I got scratched by a wolf every single time I play
Haha sounds like the lenses are rubbing your nose. If you have a smaller ipd like me, it's probably because the lenses are close together. You can avoid it by using the top button to pull the headset away from your face a little bit, so it doesn't hit your nose there.
Alright thanks, one last thing btw, idk if my headset is defective or if the psvr2 just looks like that, the resolution is 4k right? For me it seems a bit like 720p-1440p, and I know that I calibrated everything correctly, I just can't see that crystal clear quality that everyone is talking
Wear the headband as low as you can on the back of your head. Also you don't need to pull the screen right up to your face. Leave a little bit of room for the rubber seal to do its work blocking out the light. This should help avoid nose pinch. Maybe check your ipd too as maybe the lenses are too close.
@@maximum-orbitm its 4k total. Roughly 2k per eye. It is super sharp but not as much as a 4ktv
When I play resident evil it's more like a big viewing screen I thought it was vr like the other vr games where your actually there. Am I doing something wrong?
You have to put the headset on, load the game and select VR mode. I did the same thing at first, then realized you have to select the VR version
Is there a way to turn off the aim snapping?
Now I'm not sure I want to play this game. It's freakout time
Haha I don't do horror games well, too intense lol. The atmosphere in this is way too creepy
Looks awesome im gonna get a ps5 and psvr 2 on my birthday so what do you think about the headset?
It's seriously a blurry mess 😑
@@TheAbvsyork why?
@AllyTwo 🤣 I'm sorry I jest, I don't have it yet but I'm trying to get one soon as well. Have you played vr before?
@@TheAbvsyork yeah quest 2 re4
@AllyTwo so it should be comparable to quest 2 in terms of resolution, but the graphics are obviously better, with better colors and blacks. It also is brighter because of hdr. I always wanted to play re 4 vr
This game scared the shit out of me in VR it just took it to the next level. Am just jealous that you don’t get nausea in VR I have to stop within 20 mins 😢
That will pass over time
Yeah, if your new to VR that can happen. It will pass over time. For now you can turn on the movement vignette, use snap turn instead of smooth turn. You can also swing your arms when moving in vr to trick your brain in to thinking your body is moving, when it's not. You can put a fan on you too when you play, sometimes that helps.
Can you sit and use the regular controllers?
You can sit, but I dont believe you can play with just the regular dual sense controller in VR. You could play it inside the headset, in the cinema mode with the controller.
Dewd, I am extremely jealous. I havent played this on flat or VR yet!!!
This was the first time I ever played it, the atmosphere is way too creepy for me haha
@@RenderedReality Oh wow, really? I am a huge horror fan, but VR is almost too much to handle. I am so glad I waited to play many of them because I want to play them for the first time on my channel. Ill do it for the content. I am waiting on my camera and my heart monitor that can be used with OSB. Bought one that doesnt work!!!!
@@RenderedReality I asked you about playing Drop Dead: The Cabin and I heard your minireview. Sadly, I would have to agree thus far. I am going to check in weekly. It was very buggy for me and hard to get. I really hate saying that because I love the studio and especially Drop Dead.
what headphones are you using?
These are the EngineeredAF headphones. They are made for the Quest, but I rigged them on the PSVR2 for now lol. The company is working on some for the PSVR2 though.
Mine just delivered recently and It's awesome but when i play this Re8vr mode I got motion sickness 😂 Is there a tip to reduce motion sickness in this game?
Is your motion sickness from walking, or the cut scenes? I think there was a teleport option, and an option for motion vignette. I would try using those, until you get more used to it.
Imitate walking motions while playing. It’s way cooler and doesn’t make you feel that weird.
@@RenderedReality Actually from walking
@@TeamNolex I will try it, Thank you for the tip
@Team Nolex Excellent tip, that does help too!! Also a fan blowing on you can help.
I still haven’t played RE7 on the psvr1 even though I bought it when it came out. Watching this makes me feel like I should wait a bit longer.
I hear 7 is really scary. Village is pretty awesome, other then the weird cut scene stuff. Someone said there is an option to change them or something though, but I'm not sure.
RE7 was my favourite game on the Psvr1 I replayed it a lot and enjoyed it much more than the flat version. Hopefully it comes to Psvr2 I would definitely play that again.
Do you know how the PCVR unofficial mod compares to this and if its worth buying and playing for PC?
I havent tried the PCVR mod myself, but have hears good things.
Pcvr mod is decent but lacks all the vr interactions that the OFFICIAL psvr2 version has. Some people have trouble running it and find it a bit janky as well depending on their system. Psvr2 version just works perfectly as you would expect. Psvr2 has different individual reload mechanics for each weapon and the trigger of each gun feels different to pull due to the adaptive triggers in the sense controllers. You can also dual weild in psvr2 version and store weapons on your body.
Put it this way psvr2 is fantastic and is made by capcom. The mod is good work made by a single guy but understandably is nowhere near as good.
@@SpacehotelMusicno motion controls? Stop lying. Just played it yesterday with full motion controllers.
@@SpacehotelMusic lying ass
Let’s play a drinking game. Everyone takes a shot each time he addresses the fact that the non-interactive cut scenes are annoying or weird… I just played this last night for the first time and am boggled by the fact that he seemingly brushed past how amazing this game looks and plays..
Been playing VR for a long time, those cut scenes are jolting to me in VR lol. The game is really cool though, and immersive other then that. Glad to hear your enjoying it, and I'm down for the drinking game 🤣🤣
@@RenderedReality you can make the cut scenes play on a 2d display if you pause it and change thr option
Am I the only person that finds this game very grainy and has lots of aliasing in VR? Also, why do Ethans arms/hands look somewhat out of focus through the headset?
I didn't think it looked too bad, there is some mura, and the lenses have a small sweet spot, so it's hard to always stary perfectly in the sweet spot for me.
The mura effect causes the grainy things you're seeing and yes there is aliasing and blur that increases with perceived distance. But you have only got a 4k screen on your face so you will see pixels just like you do if you a couple of inches from your 4k TV. We all want better clarity but that's a way off. At just 2k per eye we'll be needing 4k or 6k per eye to get the visuals you are probably hoping for. That's a way off yet, especially at mass market prices. Try and enjoy it for what it is, as being actually in RE8 beats observing it on a TV any day.
There's an option for the cutscenes like re4 vr lol
Oh there is?? I will have to check that out.
@@RenderedReality yes during cutscenes you can change it's mode back and forth
Lol I hated these games when I used to play em on ps1 ps2, hated the run around looking for clues and keys. Annoying to me. 🤷♂️
I havent played these on PS1 or 2, but in VR its super intense lol
IMO play this game seated
Hmm how come??
In my opinion no
Surprisingly, this was more scary on flat screen for me. The entertainment and fun of having VR arms and hands overpowers the elements of horror. I was having fun way more than feeling any dread. VR is better because I paid way more attention to things than when I played on flatscreen. I didn’t miss things I missed when I played on flat screen. Flat screen still wins in clarity/visuals. Felt more scared after taking headset off. Had some depersonalization going on. Goes away after an hour.
I know what you mean, especially as it's new this-go-round with PSVR2. It was very atmospheric and fun, I too sat on my floor (in a room in VR) just shining my torch around and listening to the wind outside, taking in details like the contents of the handbag on the floor in the first house you go (with the father/daughter). I definitely felt like I was there living it vs flatscreen but RE8 is more atmospheric than scary to me (at least the parts I've played upto now and in the past inc the lady and her daughters + the escape). It just felt like fun, and a bit movie like. RE7 was quite a bit more creepy I think but I never played that in VR as had sold my PSVR1 by then. I didn't much care for RE8 on flatscreen so never got past half way, but love it in VR..... just feels more 'worth it' somehow.
@@SpacehotelMusic doll house was eerie when your stuck in room with bloody mannequin.
Oh man, seemed scary to me in VR lol, I'm a wuss when it comes to horror games though haha. You definitely see so much more playing a game in VR, being inside that world, rather then looking through a window at the world's powerful stuff!!
@@RenderedReality underground beneath the doll house when your stuck with the bloody mannequin looking for clues was a little eerie
@@drblitz3092 😬😬
Why does psvr2 look sooooo baddddd???
I felt the same way before I played it. It looks better in the headset and being inside of the world is indescribably immersive
How come you think it looks so bad? Just curious?
Looks amazing in the headset. That’s all I know. And the dark areas are actually dark. Not fake dark like on LCD’s.
@@RenderedReality do u think it looks good?
Because you actually don't have it
