Screw the haters. I liked it. Saw it in twice in theaters and bought the DVD.
I agree - I don't know why it was criticized so much - yeah nuking the fridge and some of the CGI was over the top, but it was entertaining and faithful enough to the series.
@@Sutterjack Im ok with the movie, now but usally i expect almost Perfection from an Indiana Jones movie. The Originals had maybe 1-3 Scnes per movie which i did not like, cause they looked fake which are maybe 1% of the movie, but Indy 4 looks 40% faje.
@@migalorsdarwin1930 I really thought the Indiana Jones franchise went off the rails with Temple of Doom and never recovered. Just one man's opinion. The story and pacing of the first was masterful. The sequels have been entertaining but disjointed and often campy IMHO.
I liked it but a lot of the actor's were wrong !
Does it ever matter what other people think? Half my favourite movies have been panned!

What a magical soundtrack. It definitely made all Indiana Jones fans dream of unique and unforgettable adventures.
Frank Marshall is right Crystal Skull was a surprise for the audience. I spent three days at Yale watching Spielberg shoot the college chase sequence but no one was calling it “Genre” - was impressed by how they went practical with everything, dozens of extras and 50’s cars for what ended up a minute onscreen.
Yes, we as the audience in the cinema were shocked about the filters, uninteresting sidekicks, a enemy who acts like a teacher on a bad day and a non existent plot. This making of is better than the actual movie.
I agree - a lot of the characters and story seem to go nowhere - why are Mutt and the professor even in it? Many strange things - the “triple waterfall” looks like it was designed to promote a new ride at Universal.
@@johnwatson3948 Indy together with this guy Mac against the russians in New Mexico would had been a interesting story. Indy in the 50s has so much potential. They didnt needed all these crystal skull stuff. It could had been a interesting spy/adventure/scifi movie. But in the end it was nothing. This was the worst Indiana Jones movie and I was in the cinema. Just like so many others. Noone said how good it was. It was and it still is terrible. But whos fault it is? Spielberg and Lucas who were too old for movies like this. They lost their inspiration and wanted effects and not hand made action. And they didnt cared about the script. So I have 0 hopes for Indy 5. I know that its a CGI bomb and it looks like a Marvel movie. Indiana Jones 1-3 are Hollywood history and noone can destroy it no matter what they bring out today.
Yes unfortunately Spielberg and Lucas seem to have “grown up” and lost the feeling they once had for this sort of adventure movie. I thought it was weird to use “Crystal Skull” as meaning an Aliens head when the term is so well known as an ancient occult glass human skull.
@@johnwatson3948 I thought that was the only interesting part of the movie, if they'd stuck with the mystic occult version it would of been far worse
I always really liked this movie. The only negative thing for me was them catapulting into the water with the boat car and them going over the three waterfalls along with the swinging on vines with monkeys if those two things could be edited out it'd be looked at in a better light.
It was brilliant... Spot on to that point in the 1940s/1950s and where Indie's life was in regards to what was going on in the world. And that link to Roswell, bloody spot on. Hater hate but really, it's spot on.
This movie seems to get a lot of hate, but what ever they say, Indiana Jones 4 is a very good movie, fits right in there with his other pulp adventures in the series !
@@poirot1 Yes :)
One of my favorite Indiana Jones films ever made!
I really hope you are just kidding. If not i am just sorry.
@@migalorsdarwin1930 just because many people don’t like a certain film you can’t discredit someone else’s opinion.
@@jediswitajewski8271 Yes
@@migalorsdarwin1930 I'm not.
I like the sixth one.
Indiana Jones is supposed to be entertaining and Crystal Skull was that the whole way through. I loved this movie
I still enjoy this movie, really close to my heart when I was 8
There’s a lot to love about this movie ❤
This "making of" is so good it makes me want to see the movie again. Now, I'm so afraid, I'm so petrified...
Stupified. Mortified...by you.
Making the movie looks a lot more fun then actually watching the movie 😭
I like Crystal Skull more than Temple of Doom personally. But Raiders and Last Crusade are my favourite.
Steven wanted it to be a surprise when we saw it in the theater ... It was a surprise alright 🤣
I'm really hoping Indiana Jones 5 doesn't give us a whole new appreciation for this film if you know what I mean 😐
@@christopherbucher7017 Don't count on it. The rumors sound pretty bad, and Steven Spielberg isn't involved. So that isn't a good sign
@@Lucasfan375 he is involved he once said I couldn't do Indiana Jones without George lucas
@@Lucasfan375 if they off him and erase his history, replacing him with that horrific Phoebe Bridge………I don’t even know. The trailer didn’t make me feel better.
@@brettbaratheon9776 I can't stand Phoebe Waller Bridge. She was annoying and condescending in the Solo movie. And she'll probably be the same here. Not to mention Indy will be treated like a fish out of water. Like, he'll probably be behind the times and shit. And she has to "put him in his place."
Lmao Kathleen about pushed Lucas down lol
I don’t know why this movie gets so much hate, sure it’s not the original trilogy or one of the best films of all time and some things don’t make sense, but it was still a fun time and seeing Harrison Ford as Indy again will always make me happy!
I wonder if either George or Steven had any idea that Kathleen Kennedy despised them so much. Her destruction of Star Wars and Indiana Jones has been a sight to behold.
How has she destroyed Indiana Jones
@@user-hx6gs9rq7u Haven't you seen Dial of Destiny yet?
@@devanworkman8745he commented 2 months ago lmao
had they removed the goffers, the monkeys, and were more subtle with the aliens then it might have been a better movie.
Those first two things I definitely agree with and the only other thing that was too far fetched for me was the boat car catapulting off a clip and then going down three waterfalls other than that I think its a really good movie and I also don't mind the Alien angle to the story one bit.
honestly this movie got too much hate i actually enjoyed this one a lot brings me back to the days of the last crusade
I like this film a lot. Haters love a band wagon.
Yeah, it's essentially the mob mentality where a small group of people gets online back in 2008 and slams the movie for being original and not copying the original trilogy, which the same can't be said for Jurassic World, Terminator, Predator, and Star Wars now where they retread the exact same story beats.
0:52
George has a look like: “no way, I’m done directing!”
It was a good movie done well and the cast delivered.
Shia LeBeuf as his son? I dont think so!
To everyone saying Spielberg didnt want to do this thats just Spielberg. He directs less and less as time goes by
My favorite of the quadrilogy
Im absolutly not suprised since you are an SW Sequel defender.
@@migalorsdarwin1930 Star Wars prequels haters told me the same thing because I also the prequels. Also it’s my first Indiana Jones movie
While I don't really care about the Star Wars sequel trilogy especially since it's a retread of the original Star Wars trilogy, you've got to at least give Spielberg and Lucas props for not copying the original Indiana Jones trilogy and offering a new story in KOTCS which was still pretty good in its own right even if it's not as high quality wise as Raiders/Crusade.
It’s crazy how invested they seem here, and then seeing the finished product. What happened??
@wespozo I respectfully disagree! But glad you like it.
I mean, they still offered a unique story that didn't simply copy the original trilogy and offered something that's pretty interesting.
At least it’s different. I love the Indy films but Last Crusade is a copy of Raiders and Temple of Doom plagiarized Gunga Din.
I own it now on 4k. Crystal Skull is not a bad movie. My favourite will always be Raiders.
I loved this movie. I still enjoy it more than the last crusade. The last crusade was fine, but it was pretty much just raiders with Sean Connery. It also took forever to get anywhere. Kingdom of the crystal skull was much more fast paced. It still had the feeling of an indy movie. I'm glad it exists. Also, the last crusade was much more family friendly and toned down.
I love this movie as well! I'd rate it easily my 2nd favourite in the series of movies, only behind Raiders. It's a difficult thing to make an exciting movie of an older Dr. Jones and I think they nailed it. Advancing the time period to the cold war, and the mythological adventure to the crystal skulls, was perfect. They did it right, and they had the great adventure that was thrilling to watch. Too many people give so much of a pass on the 2nd and 3rd films, while they are ridiculously nitpicky of this movie. Plus, Marion was fantastic. I love this movie.
@@ElectricKnightEntertainment yes, to everything you said. I put last crusade, last. I enjoy temple of doom a lot as well
Wonderful directors and story tellers. Love their work! Can’t wait for the next Indiana. Paying full retail in the theaters.😊

@@Chemafur nah Raiders was the best. TOD was ok and LC was great.
@@kellymulderino7156 I just didn't find the original film to be as much action or travel as the other 2 are, it's a good film.
Can someone explain to me what Steven is doing at 5:35 - what is that lens he is holding? Thanks!
Flawed movie but still has the Lucas & Spielberg magic.
Exactly. DOD has no pop, it just seems to generic. Mission Impossible is going to blow it out of the water!
just when I thought he was way too old back in 2008 . Indiana Jones 5 in 2022 trailer just premiered today.
Yeah, to be honest, Harrison actually still looked really great in this movie especially seeing him climbing those crates in the beginning and running on top of them, he didn't run like he was an old man yet at least so it made it believable that he could still be adventuring at his age and he looked young for his age as well.
Love the behind the scenes with Steven Speilberg and George Lucas...spellbound these two came.up with Star wars
Not seen much behind the scenes on this film. Glad to see they got out doors more than i thought. KOTCS is the most 'studio bound' of them all. In a way more true to Lucas's inspirations. Which were studio, and back lot made 1930s productions, which would utilize a few exteriors somewhere like iverson movie ranch. I think the film is ok, some stupidity for sure. Tonally more silly. But also some fun sequences. Looking forward to the fresh POV on Indy 5. Which i guess will take things into the beyond with the potential horror / peril of time travel. No one wants to get trapped beyond their time, while some enemy heads off to destroy the world in another time.. I am intrigued, and they will have my ticket fee for that one regardless.
That video was a hell of a lot better than the actual movie!
Nah, the movie was pretty great. People just jump on the bandwagon to hate on it for being a totally different adventure compared to the first three.
I appreciate this much more now after the pos they just put out. In my mind there will only ever be 3 but this one is 100x better than the new one and the first 3 are perfect.
Yeah. I agreed. I saw today the newest Indy and that was... well just bad.. No Lucas and no Spielberg so I think that is why the first 3 are magic and 4 is ok. I had high hopes on the fifth when I saw the trailers but it was very confusing, strange and just the magic was gone. I gotta say that when I saw this 4 in 2008 I was little dissapointed but I saw it a week ago and it was quite ok :)
I’ll never forget Ray Winstone in the movie Quadrophenia as a rocker. He was quite young
Here's looking at you kid. Best line ever.
The best farewell and send off to our indi. Everithing about it is wholesomeness indi
Wow
Really liked most of the movie. I had problem with 2 parts or scenes in the movie. First was running to the temple from the indigenes guardians...that scene was weird to me, like it was obvious that think was a model, al do it might have not been (i don't know) and like those guardians with spears were not that intimidating, and second scene was a family one and that jungle chase/fight were nothing worked for me. Other than those two everything else was great.
Yeah, my main two issues were the vine swinging scene and the boat car catapulting into the river and being able to survive three waterfalls.
I still like this movie.
Music: John Williams(2008)
They nailed it with the atomic bomb going off, That was perfect in my opinion.
Okay the deals up, My intro to the franchise was with THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. I didn't know there were others movies
This is the best movie of the four he directed. It was due to extra terrestrial theme. Spielberg is very familiar with this theme.
Yes I thoroughly enjoyed the film
This one really? I always thought Raiders was the best. I wish he was directing the new one.
No chance.
Indiana Jones 💕
Why they only show the beginning of the movie? Why not the rest of it.
I still remember ROTLA like it was yesterday. The de-aging tech used is amazing.
George: "Hey Steve, I know you're the director n all, but this is still our movie and I'm paying for all this. So we're gonna joyride in that car I picked, and you're driving."
Steven: 😒
George: "Faster and more intensity!"
The way K.K grabbed onto George Lucas and his resection was very foreboding 😢
Rip Star Wars
Her devils influence began right there lmao
Resection?
The 5ft is good but 4ft is gold
The sad thing is , is I feel with not so much cgi , Harrison maybe being a bit more flexible ect , and mayyyyyyybe a better ending than the space ship taking off … I feel this could have been a great Indiana jones film , especially Indiana vs the Russians
I think if you simply took out the swinging on the vines scene and the boat car scenes with them catapulting into the river and then falling down three waterfalls, it'd be looked upon a lot better.
I guess I'm in the minority but I love this film!
The best thing that came from this film was the inspiration for nuketown on black ops 1
Whoever made it so clean looking compared to the others ruined the feel! Really Hope they fix that!
Now with indy 5 coming this film aged better and deserved better than what it got. Shouldnt be praised more than original 3 tho
I think it stands on its own as a really good adventure film and was neat for offering something new and interesting to the series, even if it isn't at the exact level as the original trilogy.
Doom Town sure looks a lot like Nuke Town from Call of Duty, Black Ops. 😁
Never understood all the hate this movie gets.
It's part of a mob mentality that started around the time the movie came out in 2008 because people wanted more of the same from the original trilogy and instead Spielberg and Lucas offered something unique to the new story and people bashed on it for it being too different.
We'll fix it in post.....uh, not so much....
Lucas does not like attention.
I really enjoyed this behind the scenes stuff and I have so much nostalgia for this movie and rewatched it recently and I still like the movie it gets way too much hate I personally think temple of doom is the weakest movie
I'm sad to say but I think this one will be a Master peice compare to the new one coming up soon if the rumors are true 😬
I mean, this one wasn't bad in the first place, so... 😬
What they Thinking? 12:47 Nobody talks to Spielberg, that this Idea is not good?
Raiders of the lost ark#1
Lucas talks like a total producer. A real money man.
It's not a piece of wood Steven. It's a snake!
As much as I love films, you look at all of the work that goes into small things. Like aging boxes, getting mannequins etc. And realize, wow, it seems like such a waste of effort for a 2 hour film. And then years later it's just forgotten, and all of that stuff thrown away. And who even watches this one, compared to the other films? Such a shame those people work TOO hard for nothing.
they’re all being paid. They’re making a product
they al say this one is bad but this one is great compared to nr 5
It's hard to fathom how Spielberg could mess this film up as badly as he did. I know he really didn't want to do George's alien plotline, but was this deliberate sabotage?
No, they wanted something that didn't copy the original trilogy, and with that, they offered a pretty unique story.
It's just like when the Stars Wars prequels turned out to be not-so-bad.
They play Red Hulk and Hela.
I really wish Shia came back
I can’t see George Lucas without thinking about his masterful performance on South Park
😂😂😂 for real dude
8:42 its one of very rare movie scenes where the lighting is such a distraction to me. it looks so bad and unnatural. you can kinda see it here but in the movie its bad.
The thing that doesn't work for me about this movie is that the original trilogy pays homage to serials from 40/50 years before, but by the time this film comes out in 2008, you can't reference those serials without referencing the orginal IJ trilogy. So things in Raiders that were cool references, by 2008, they're cliches, in part because of the original trilogy. Cate Blanchett's character for example, it's pure cliche: the clothes, the accent, the hair. She is basically Frau from Austin Powers, and instead of being scary, I find her laughable. Whilst Toht from Raiders is a villain in the same vain, his character works because in 1981 it was a cool homage to classic villains, by Kingdom, that type of villain doesn't work in the same way. The same applies for other references, dialogue and a lot of the action (especially the vine swinging). I don't hate the movie, I just don't think you can re-visit the same property decades later, tell the same sort of story in the same way, and have it work the same way as the original did. Hopefully the new movie tries something a bit different.
ooh brother . a baddy is part 4
If you take away the fridge being blasted a mile away, Marion jumping the amphibian vehicle onto the tree, Mutt getting hit repeatedly in the groin while doing the splits between to cars and the swinging like tarzan scene, I thought the movie was great!
Not bad
Also, get rid of 100% of LeBum's scenes.
I actually like the fridge scene akin to the raft scene in Temple of Doom but the boat car being catapulted and falling down three waterfallls and the vine swinging were the only things that I wish were edited out of the movie somehow along with the pointless cameos from the gopher.
@00:51 that didn't age well. 🤣🤣🤣
ALMOST as bad as James Cameron killing John Connor, aka the Terminator franchise.
I loved that it inspired nuketown
People thing 4 is bad.......wait till 5!!!🥴
Well Crystal Skull is no longer the worst Indy movie now!
I hate Kathleen Kennedy she ruined everything after she got full control.
I really don't like the whole made up stuff about crystal skulls, applying mysticism at 19th century fabrications set my teeth on edge.
and that influenced my appriciation for this movie a lot.
This movie was full of bloopers. One big blooper.
For all the - rightful - criticism, I really liked the first roughly 20 minutes with the 60´s rocknroller-kids, evil russians, the fight on the jet-sled and the atomic village. Basically when the bomb goes of is when the movie turns to shize, almost like a foreboding.
🍺😸
Kathleen Kennedy jumpscare
Oh God, Its Kathleen Kennedy.
Not your best work Stephen
"Do your best work....."
Whoops! 😳🎬
Was it as good as the originals? Nope. Was it better than no indy? Of course.
It was nice that they came up with an original story that wasn't a carbon copy of the original trilogy.
Spielberg full of self doubt and pessimism on Day 1
The biggest blooper was starting production...
Shia was the weak link in this movie. If they casted someone better, this movie might not have been so panned. His off screen antics have ruined a lot of projects.
The beginning of the film is Kamiński masterpiece
Care blanchett was wrong for that movie!! Its main weakness

"Russians" (you know ...the guys who actually defeated the Nazis).
That entrance of indies messed with everything that indie is.... Worst intro from the series of movies hands down
