That was a rumor that it was delayed internally. It's never been confirmed because Nintendo has yet to say a word about the Switch 2. This is concrete evidence that backs up the rumor.
Nintendo is sadly so very VERY mismanaged. I’ve never seen a company that just doesn’t seem to care about leaving money on the table the way they do. From the already completed Zelda twilight princess, Wind Wker, Metroid, Earthbound, Mother 3 reissue/remakes etc that are ALREADY made that they will NOT distribute to having their flagship device continue to operate on 2013-2015 era technology in 2024 is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that technology is not everything and I fully support innovation but this is just sad. No one at Nintendo seems to even care about their legacy anymore. For example Mr Iwata, was a great President, many fans would be hard pressed to even name their current one. 🤷♂️

These kinds of comments never fail to amuse me, because people who truly love Nintendo really don't seem to understand them at all. There's a very good reason for this behaviour and that's because Nintendo doesn't care about (or cares very little) the Nintendo faithful audience - when they rely on this audience on its own Nintendo sells Wii U or at best GC numbers (13-20m). When they rely on other audiences they get Wii, DS, and Switch numbers (100-150m). It's as simple as that - all of those things you want; the niche games, the extra power etc. that's not what makes Nintendo the type of profit they're after, while you're left with your wallet open, baffled as to why they don't just take your money. As for Nintendo still selling decent numbers for a full price system in 2024 that has tech from 2013, I would say that that is a clear example of modern Nintendo being exceptionally well managed. That profit margin alone is bound to make their investors very happy. We might not like it as fans of Nintendo, but this is the truth behind the matter; pandering to their biggest fans isn't what's going to bring in the big bucks.
As a Metroid fan I really hope Prime 4 doesn't come out this year. We've already waited so long, I'd much rather wait another year for it to come out on a more powerful system
It makes much more sense to release it on the current system. But i think you can expect a update for next gen. Id prefer to have it all on cart for the next system though.

I think we still could get a new Pokemon game this year. Just remember, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee weren't announced on Pokemon Day in 2018, they were announced at the end of May 2018 and released in November 2018. Same with some other Pokemon titles.
Based on things I’ve heard from a variety of channels and sources, of course the ‘Switch 2’ isn’t coming out in 2024, I assumed until today that 2026 was its release date based on the limited information available, but after doing ‘research’ today I think the earliest ‘Switch 2’ could come out is Fall of 2025. My guess for the latest time it could come out (based on the information I have now) is Fall of 2026. (The 2026 release date is due to Midori, a leaker with a 100% track record so far saying Persona 6 would launch Day & Date on all platforms including ‘Switch 2’.)
With the extra power of switch 2, it's probably going to take longer and more effort to make games. Especially for Nintendo, since they're not used to a much more powerful system
We aren't getting the switch 2 till 2026. We will get pokemon ZA and Metroid prime 4 next year as final console sellers. Nintendo has already said they are going to support the current switch with software through 2025.

So for me I be straight upgrading to Switch 2 from Switch V1, so I wanna continue my games not make new saves for them on Switch 2, so I hope we can transfer saves as well to Switch 2 from Switch! Bear in mind, they said they weren’t going to be presenting at Gamescom, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be there courting devs or exhibiting things. As it stands, they don’t usually present stuff at Gamescom for new hardware the year it’s announced. They usually do that at E3 or at TGS or the September Direct while Gamescom presentations in transition years for Nintendo are directed more toward the outgoing generation unless they’re doing something really new (eg the slow rollout of info and presentations regarding the Wii). So what the announcement that they won’t present at Gamescom could mean is either they’re going to be very piecemeal about announcements for the Switch or we’ll be getting a major Direct that covers Switch releases for the remainder of the current fiscal year in May or June. Then we’ll probably get a teaser trailer for Switch 2 in June or July. And then the September/October Direct will be to the new hardware. If that’s the case, we’re looking at a Switch 2 release most likely within Q1 calendar year 2025/Q4 FY2025. We get a full reveal of the system, its features, and its launch lineup by June, we could still end up with a possible September release. We just won’t see a launch between October-December this because statistically, holiday launches are almost always harder for Nintendo.

I don't know if it's still the same as back then, but the only thing i didn't like about the Gamescom was that every single MC / act exclusively spoke german. Meaning, we'd just be standing in a crowd oblivious until people started throwing around goodies. Which is fine, they speak in german in germany after all. It's just.. i can't remember any international event in my country where we didn't cater to non- speakers. We'd always have at least MC's speaking english.
I love Metroid games, and Nintendo should release Metroid games on PC. It would be a great method to increase the sales and expand the Metroid franchise. Metroid games being a cross-platform game will not hurt Nintendo console sales in any way.Metroid Dread is a great example that any PC could run it on steam.
The real reason for this, is to finally beat the ps2 once and for all. They won’t launch the Switch 2 this year, but the Pro model called Switch+ or plus, to help increase the console sales. Exclusive games with the + sign that only plays in the Pro version will be released like GTA IV and V, Elden Ring, etc. To differentiate from the normal games.

Nintendo won’t announce it this year to be released next year. They would be killing their holiday season, with people opting to not buy to wait. If by October we don’t hear anything, it could be announced in Jan or Feb. I think GBA SP was announced on February after denying a GBA update.
