If you look up the word Clickbait in the dictionary you’ll find a photo of our boy RGT 85 with a Knicks hat, gold chain and some weird look on his face.
Digital only would be a non starter for a family console. I have 3 kids and my own console, and there’s absolutely no way I could afford to buy 3 or 4 copies of every game they play. We also need laws to change regarding the purchase of digital media. The term ‘buy’ is extremely misleading and should either say ‘Rent’ or make it extremely clear that you’re not actually buying the game or digital media.
Well you can't use a physical copy on multiple consoles either, you only own a licence for a single copy, legally you can make a backup but you can't use it as an extra copy nor can you use it in an emulator. This is my understanding of reading the legal text.
Actually if you have an account that own the digital copy on all your consoles, you can play that game on those consoles, but in physical you'll have to buy a copy for each user. So I think you used a bad example.
I could see it being released early summer of ‘25 because then kids will be out of school and it’d be the perfect time to play lots of new games. Then once school starts back, you only got 3 or so months before Christmas and they could drop some big holiday games. It seems like a good strategy
Makes no difference, honestly. The Switch came out in March and it didn’t do any harm. Most consoles release in November. There is no correlation to ‘if they release it in the summer months it will be the best time to release it’. On the contrary, my opinion is that most people are more concerned with being out and about in the summer months and enjoying the nice weather.
The current Switch is capable of 60fps. You are blaming Nintendo when it's developers who do lazy ports need to be blamed. All previous FIFA titels were 60fps, Prince of Persia: The lost Crown is 60fps, Sonic Super Stars is 60fps. Do your research ,man.
Yeah I was really hoping he would talk about why Nintendo would end up Getting rid of Screen shots and The functionality Of Adding friends on Nintendo from Social media cause that Makes me Really MAD like the Switch 2 ain’t even out YET ?? Next thing you know they Will disabling online functionality for specific GAMES I know there are some people out there who feel the same way I do when it comes to this i
that's been my own line of thinking. gonna need some kind of software lock or something to keep people from making adjustments to the cart to try and put it in a current Switch. this has been done before, with the Game Boy Color and the 3DS as well. You could make adjustments to the carts themselves, but put them in the older system and they wouldn't work.
I think that what they will do with the cartridge will be a similar connection system. However I believe the placement of the card slots will be different.
Storage is my big issue, there are games I’ve been avoiding simply because of the file size, it doesn’t make any sense to me to spend the money on a larger micro sd card if a new system is imminent.
Doesn't sound too bad I don't or plan to buy a 4k screen till my normal HD one breaks. So 4k doesn't bother me nor does online to be honest, I rarely ever play online and with paid services it's even less likely I will. As long as it plays good fun games I'm happy.
Apparently the Switch 2 is featuring LPDDR5X RAM, which would outperform the PS4 and Steam Deck, meaning the Switch 2, despite having 4GB less RAM than the Steam Deck (Over 16GB LPDDR5 RAM vs Switch 2's 12GB LPDDR5X RAM), it can still out perform the Steam Deck as well as the PS4 whilst also maintaining a decent battery life similar to the Switch OLED model. Also, it's going to ship with 256GB of Storage, which is bad but if they still give us the chance to upgrade via Micro SD cards, I don't mind
I'd say 256 GB should be more than enough considering the games' file sizes won't be taking up 50+ or 100+ gb like on the other next-gen consoles. They''ll be on cartridges, so it'll presumably be compressed like how they are on the current switch. Also worth noting that 256 GB is the same as the minimum storage offered by the Steam Deck OLED. If Nintendo went further than that, the Switch 2 would probably go beyond the price point they're aiming for.
The next console is more of a want than a need for me. I play only Zelda and am okay with the minimal lag. If a more powerful console means better Zelda games, I’m in!
With Furokawa acknowledging Switch succesor i think I'm finally ready to buy a PS5. Tho, I'm happy to hear they will support physical media for one more gen.
I would imagine in terms of physical media they could do a similar shift from the DS to the 3DS which would allow them to use a more robust cartridge while still allowing for the prior generation to be used.
Of course Switch successor will have physical games. Search Switch collections, look how many games these people have, think Nintendo’s willing to risk losing those sales? (they don’t have Microsoft brain.)
Make it a bezel-less tablet with screen rotation the same size and thickness as the Switch 1. The tablet has a virtual controller so it doesn't need to be dependent on the Joycons or any other controllers. Let's beat those Mobile markets.
They have 64gb cartridges, but developers don't really use them to save cost and limited availability. They were delayed for awhile. Current cartridges developers use only load the base information, then require everyone to download the rest of the games.
I still have a feeling that it's not going to be physically backwards compatible. If it was going to have backwards compatibility they would have came out and said it.
I don't see the logic in that. They just announced that they will be revealing details within the current fiscal year; after June, which means details won't be discussed until a later date.
If it isn't backwards compatible I have no reason to get it. There are games that straight up don't run on the switch right now (fate/samurai). Having a more powerful console run games we have would be GREATLY appreciated.
My guess for the physical card, would be a card that is longer in length, with a deeper card slot, that has a little opening panel for the shorter length of original Switch cards.
@collectingonthecheap56353 That could definitely be a possibility however but personally think that the switch 2 cartridges might be something more akin to the 3DS cartridges where had that little nub at the top which prevented you from putting a 3DS card in a previous DS model or something else Nintendo could do would be to make the Switch 2 cartridges a bit thinner so that way they wouldn’t be able to fit into a regular switch but who knows at this point.
The ONLY thing I truly even care about is if the backwards compatibility allows for use of the actual Switch cartridges (not just e-shop downloads). My only other question is, will Nintendo finally get Battlefield or maybe even Halo?!
Microsoft can keep Halo and Battlefield, they’re both trash franchises anyway and Nintendo’s got more than enough IPs like advance wars, we don’t need Microsoft garbage on Switch 2.
Backwards compat at least digital only. First switch 2 probably will have a physical switch 1 slot, but the revision system will remove it. So digital games will be backwards compat longer term
I honestly don’t see why there wouldn’t be backwards compatibility because Gameboy Color was bc with gameboy games GBA was backwards compatible with gb and gbc games Ds was bc with gba Wii was backwards compatible with GameCube Wii u was bc with Wii 3ds was bc with ds If we count accessories. SNES with the super gameboy was bc with gb and gbc The GameCube with the gameboy player was bc with gba,gb and gbc. So i dont see why it wouldn’t considering all these systems have had backwards compatibility in some form
The storage limit of the cartridge isnt due to a technical limitation. But just for Cost. They could easily make a much larger cartridge to hold larger games (and they do). The problem is publishers dont want to *PAY* for a larger cartridge and rather opt for putting *some* of the game on a smaller (cheaper) one, and force you to download the rest just so they can say "yes we have a physical version" when its not really. Its just publishers being cheap, not because of a hardware limitation.
Facts and with talk of cheaper nand cartridges there’ll be no excuses for the lazy 3rd party developers then. They squeezed an 80GB game on fa 7GB cartridge for Hogwarts Legacy pn Switch and only one of the games is available on the cartridge for Batman Arkham Trilogy on Switch with the other 2 games having to be downloaded.
I wouldn't worry about nintendo having any difficulty switching over to their next gen console game development wise. People were saying the same thing back when they transitioned from wii to wiiu but there was no issue.
Its not rocket science man. It will be like 3DS carts and DS carts. There's reven reports that Samsung is working with Nintendo to develop new flash storage/carts
Nintendo wants to maintain sales of the current Switch for this fiscal year, so it’s understandable that they don’t want to release new information about Switch 2 yet.
Not surprised about anything in this video. They already said like a year ago that the Nintendo accounts would transfer over, which makes sense with these annual subscriptions that we may be in the middle of when the new system launches. It also suggests backwards compatibility, and I can't imagine them getting rid of physical media at this point because now they have a tiny format that can still hold more than Blu-rays if they want them to.
Sorry, RGT85 this is three months old. Tom from Moore’s Law is Dead. Tom stated that his inside sources that the console is complete but that they were still waffling on 8GB vs 12GB. What if Nintendo took the idea from PSP Go when it comes to the disc to make their games more larger and somehow still find a way to give you backwards compatibility with the cartridge format from the previous switch?
It makes sense to keep releasing physical games, Nintendo consoles are families consoles at heart, with a lot of games available for children. Kids love getting games as presents, games that they can play right away. I can't imagine an 8 years old on Christmas Day waiting 5 hours for the new Mario Kart to finish downloading 😂
Physical media isn't a surprise and is a given. Nintendo accounts transferring over makes a lot of sense. Why would Nintendo start over with a new online deal? That would be confusing and annoying and frustrating
