    Jon you have to do a quick tutorial on that software and teach us something new. Even though I am not a "live performer" but why not the knowledge?! Thanks!

    in my opinion, your live setup is a refresh of the dj stuff (which amazes me). i am currently trying to combine both (it's a kind of a hybrid between a dj and a live setup inspired by yours)

    I was on the way to say, -You should use a projector behind the screen(s). Then, I realised, you want it cube shape. But, then, what about doing metal frame squares in the size of the cubes with a fabric made for back-projection? Not sure I make my idea clear ;-) Anyway, it looks great what you are doing.

    • @The_only_Manny
      @The_only_Manny Před 3 lety +1

      It’s not actually connected to Ableton, it just used MIDI data same way ableton does, so you can program it to trigger video clips when you play a synth/midi.
      If Jon does decide to use a separate laptop for visuals he will have to use MTC or SMPTE to connect to ableton.

    • @dsquareddan
      @dsquareddan Před 3 lety

      @@The_only_Manny not necessarily. Resolume supports Ableton Link. SMPTE would be a bit more complicated for what he is currently doing with software

    For your backdrop you might consider plastic dowling rods that you can form to a shape and then have white spandex that you can pull over the structure created with the rods. It’s cheap, light and easy to transport. Perhaps get a set design company to build it for you? Just a thought.

    • @Jonsine

    I ask cause ive been looking on some used m1 air and macbook pro 13 now that the New 14 inch came out but i do not want to spend the extra Cash on a laptop if i can save that extra Cash and spend it on ableton and vst and ather cool toys!
    I am now trying to get a good laptop in order to run a full version of ableton in order to learn on it since i do not know much of how to use ableton.

    Beeple visuals are great to learn with, but understand that EVERYONE uses beeple. Every VJ instantly recognizes those visuals because they have been used to death. There are so so so many other visual loop packages you can get. Resolume website has a bunch, kind of pricey, but worth it. Also look into STVinMotion, he has great visual packs and amazing resolume tutorials. Some of the best tutorials actually IMO

    Jon...Looks fantastic.. Well done. Great... But I think you are building the house from the roof down... Lights and all this is the last thing.. The main columns are the music and your performance.. You should invest your time in the music and how you play it.. This is the very last thing to think about.

    • @Jonsine
