Good video Jon and I like your approach. When I'm recording, writing, making music while mobile/portable I keep things also minimal and compact. 13" M1 MAcBook Pro and headphones or earbuds..that's it.. I use the virtual keyboard in Logic Pro 11 as well as drawing in Midi events. My older 15" Mac I have Cubase Pro 12 installed which also has a virtual keyboard.. I used to carry along a small 2 octave keyboard but it just adds weight and takes up room in my backpack, plus it's noisy hitting those keys if you're in a public library or quiet space.. so I find it better to not bother taking along a mini keyboard... Best to keep it the basics and light so it's not a burden carrying too much weight around.

It' is very useful to hear the perspective of someone who actually receives demos. One question I have is, why would so many people send music to your label? What will your label do for them that they can't do themselves? Does your label have any artists with hits?

They don't actually boost the harsh S sounds, the frequency response actually has a pretty sizable dip on the high mids. They're good for producing if you don't wanna focus on the mix that much because it really does tame a bit of the harsher high mids, but for mixing I use them with sonarworks sound ID to correct the frequency response. When you combine that with having noise cancellation on + a plugin like waves NX, you actually get a seriously good option for mixing.

what you should mention about cover versions is that the original artists hasnt got a choice whether he wants to grant you a license or not. Cover licenses (so called mechanical license) are not negotiable. thats why there are so many EDM covers of tracks surfacing recently. instead of begging someone to get right to remix a tune (which they will either never grant or will want a huge amount of money), just find a decent singer that sounds similar, recreate the sounds and your golden.

First, I love waves plugins and the waves echo system. I run the Waves sound grid DSP server and related hardware connected via ethernet on an M1 Mac Studio. But second, I partly agree with your statements. and I usually don't care what a company does from a business prospective or what others think about it, unless it is my own. But the Waves 90% off sales ? IMO feels like the behavior of a company about to go under. So sometimes these moves are not always motivated by greed but survival. And as someone who has invested heavy in the platform, Waves going under concerns me more than anything else you said.

If it wasn't for fake mix sets I would never have had a career as a DJ. I don't know anything about how to mix music. But to be totally real, I was trained as a radio personality and knew absolutely nothing about being a mobile DJ. I used my name as a radio DJ to transition into a mobile DJ career, but I never actually got any training in how to mix music. So I was basically just faking it for 10. I had someone who made up mixes for me using DJ software.

I prefer chamelot wheel why because is make for me simple to understand.The the key.
