- The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. We sell parts and simple to follow wiring instructions for the 1uzfe engines. For enquiries email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz Take Care. Kelvin

Kelvin, nice job! Sound is perfect. Can't wait to watch the series.
Thanks. The more I drive it, the more I like the sound level, and the most important thing is the customer likes the sound. Cheers Kelvin
Love it!!! Good job. Jason gotta big smile 😁🇦🇺
He sure does smile in this job. I'm showing the ozzies how to sort a hilux.
Superb Kelvin !! Sharing
Cool as. Cheers Kelvin
Awesome mate
Thanks
Very simple engines to swap and make good power
They are. Also a jigsaw of mix and matchable parts , but all the same rules of swapping apply. I really like the LS overall. Cheers Kelvin
Love it
Thanks
7:32-7:38 that’s sounds sick. You think the missus will allow me to do this to her 2017 rav4? 😂 I know it’s a fwd engine!
Can you give me an idea of the cost of a conversion like this? my hilux has done 420km so no doubt will be looking to do something similar when the engine goes.
Kelvin!!! =)
Its a cool truck.
Nice job, for the calipers what peugeot model did the calipers come off?
2006 V6 petrol. There is a video on the brakes coming. Cheers Kelvin
You used the stock diesel gearbox and diff with an adapter?
Yes, replacement bellhousing.
Damn, love it, top conversion. Did you read my mind ?
I have a 2014 dual cab 2wd Hilux with 4.0 v6 with 57600 Klms on the clock, ex government fleet purchased with 29.000 Klm on the clock, and have wanted to go the V8 path for the last couplt of years.
Either with a Lexus 5 ltr, or LS1 or 2.
What is a rough ball park figure for doing this LS2 conversion on my Hilux, Kelvin ?
Too many options to offer a price. Its like asking how much is a bottle of wine. Maybe email with list of your details
@@CartuneNZ No probs, will do.
Unrelated enquiry, I am wondering if it is feasible to put a 2002 2.5 hilux d4d engine and gearbox into a 2.4 hiace
I have a customer doing a d4d into an older 70 series landcruiser so quite able to be be done. Cheers
I’m not a LS fan but it’s a nice vehicle .
Its really nice to drive. I've been allowed to use it for a bit. I hooked my my trailer with some sheep on board and hit the cruise control button and enjoyed every moment.
Kelvin, what sort of difference do you notice between LS and Lexus engines? Fuel economy, noise etc
The LS make more power , as they are more CCs. The LS are easy to keep cool and a more compact unit , but there is no finesse in an LS. The UZ is much smoother. Fuel economy both can be good if setup correct. The mistake many people do is putting the little UZ into a heavy car and expecting good fuel economy. Cheers Kelvin
@@CartuneNZWould it be better to swap a ls into a Lexus ls430 and then add a turbo or should I keep the 3uz in there and boost that instead. The reason is to have a reliable and quick daily driver but would it be worth the swap or not?
Hi Kelvin, Have you done a 1UZFE or 3UZFE into an 80 series Auto?
Yes, and I avoid them as I think the uz range of engines isn't ideal. I might consider a 2uz however an LS goes way better and uses less fuel.
I do a Lexus 1uz non vvti conversion on my 2008 Mitsubishi Colt 2.8 diesel.Don't know how to sort out the revcounter.
We use a tacho adjuster box. Cheers Kelvin
Open question but what does a conversion like this cost? Just there abouts as know they are all different.
This one was around $40k nzd.
Hi Kevin no job I’ve a 2015 sr5 4wd doing my homework now any tips major headaches you had etc
There is a playlist of the whole build. LS2 Toyota Hilux Vigo Swap. 2wd Manual 2014.: czcams.com/play/PLpppUSt353-B33B_ueuljGfbgE1TR2KzX.html
Kelvin.. did the the owner say why LS2 and not LS3 .. was it cheaper or something that makes the 2 better than the 3 for transplants ?
No , he simple said he wanted an LS2 and I did as I was asked. We got a really nice engine from a VZ Maloo ute.
Anyway .. the “Dark side” now adds another dimension to your business and our viewing .. looking forward to more “Dark” projects.
One more thing .. you did a 3UZ / 6speed auto 4WD conversion recently .. is that complete and will you be posting any more on that ?
@@neilroberts4714 Ive done a few LS jobs in the past on the down low, and wiring another atm. My mind needs a change from time to time. We are in the process of getting parts for the 3uz 4x4. Transfer case adaptor is on its way from overseas now. Engine had a cambelt done and some wiring is done. Also waiting on some wiring plugs so there will be more coming on that job.
It’s already gone done n dusted...
Dyno booked in a few weeks

I just done a 2jz swap into my 2006 2wd hilux with link fury i can't work out how to get water temp gauge and speedo to work i have tacho working
We do lots of later shagger hiluxs. I have tips somewhere in my videos. Most guys stuff up by removing the stock ecu.
@@CartuneNZ isn't the early n70 hilux analog signal from ecu to temp gauge not can bus?
Its a toyota own special encoded signal, so more like their multiplex system but a single signal on the line.
@@CartuneNZ oh yeah makes sense. Iv retained the factory wiring for the speedo but its no working getting 12v at sensor ect just wondering if there something you gotta do to make it go
Negative. Speedo will work without stock ecu in place
