    Currently looking into building a car very similar and wanted to know what the Pros and Cons of using the 3uz instead of an LS or something along the lines.

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  Před 5 lety

      Did you find the LS engine conversion I did in the 2009 hilux? The 3uz is great as it it smooth and refined however the base motor prepared to go into the vehicle is quite pricey. I have lots of parts for the UZ family so that is really easy for me. If you want even more power then the 3uz is going to be really expensive so swapping to the LS is an easy way to make more Hp and Torque. There is no finesse in an LS. Physically long is an issue with the bell nose water pump so swapping to shorter LS2 is a good option but up go the $$$. I found some good parts for my swap and then applied the same knowledge. I really love the lexus engines however when you want a big hammer the LS is often a better choice. Hope thats helpful. Cheers

      CartuneNZ That’s beyond helpful mate and I haven’t seen your LS swap so I will do a quick hunt for that video. • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  Před 5 lety +1

      Good Morning. The early A/c pump is easier to work with. They have the clutch and a speed sensor which isnt required with the aftermarket ECU. The 3uz compressor has a control solenoid as well which requires control for the pump to operate and I was out of PWM outputs on the ecu. I have three versions on a/c pump sitting in the workshop ready to do a video on these at some point.

      @@1-UZ So far I have found the Gen 1 and Gen 2 1uz have been fine. The Gen 3 (vvti) 1uz generally have the variable solenoid so while the can still be used it takes more controls to do so. No. This model has a 190mm length input shaft R150f and being v6 the bellflange sits further forward than the firewall than is ideal for the v8. This means moving the gearbox back which would have stuffed the shifter position. As such some changes were made so the box was same configuration as a diesel R151F like an earlier surf or 1kz diesel model. Cheers Kelvin

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  Před 4 lety

      Hello. High rpm indicates an issue. If its factory ecu it indicates something requires sorting, maybe incorrect wiring, problem iac or maybe fiddled fingers playing with something they shouldn't. If its aftermarket incorrect tuning or one of the above. It needs someone who knows what they are doing to look at it. There is no normal idle adjustment to just turn it down. Exhaust is going to depend on what it has now and specifics of the new system to whether it makes a difference. Twin system is possible however a good single will perform just as well providing each is designed and installed correctly. Cheers Kelvin
