  • How to Stop Windshield Chips from spreading for a few bucks. Chips in auto glass can lead to large and long cracks if not stopped or treated. I have done this with a few of my cars and I will say this did stop the chips from spreading. One of my cars has a rock chip that has been there for over 3 years and so far has not spread yet. Also make sure your glass is clean before doing this procedure.
    NOTE : This video was made to show you how to stop chips from Spreading Only and Not For Repairing. Most of your auto parts stores will carry the full auto glass chip repair kit. They are priced around 10 - 20 dollars give or take for the full kits. The kits do work and will do a complete repair. Thank you for watching and please like and share If you can. Peace to all of you

      Thank you Laura this is just a quick way to slow it down. All I'm doing is keeping the moisture and air out of it that's all. Yes I agree the injection repair kits work a hundred times better. I'm just showing the hillbilly Way of being cheap for $2. Yep you still have the chip but at least it's sealed it won't spread. The repair kits at the auto parts stores now they actually seal it and repair it. Thanks again my friend.

    Very informative. Watched your video and tried this with a small chip and the chip hasn’t spread. Took my car today to Safelite as I already scheduled an appointment and they told me it was only a surface chip and took 5 mins to see if there was any further damage. They didn’t feel the need to fix it as the glue I used was good enough.

    Seems like a good alternative to fill in chips. Though I don't think a chip with a bigger crack will be prevented from spreading. Usually bigger cracks need to be drilled out and filled at the end so that it doesn't spread.

    • @bluesharp59
      @bluesharp59  Před 5 lety

      The chip on my car in the video didn't spread yet and its a 1/4 inch crack on each side and hasn't spread for over two years now. Maybe I'm lucky then lol. Then again you may be correct, but mines in center view and so far so good without spreading for me anyway. Thanks for watching and comment also.

      I noticed it did end up penetrating the cracks, it left a nice layer inside the crack and the windshield (but not inside the actual vehicle side of the windshield.

    • @bluesharp59

      I had to same chip over 3 years now and has not spread. If you rub your hand over it and it fells smooth after you do the trick then its good. I re check mine every 3 months and if it don't feel smooth then i redo it again.

    It didn’t do anything to fill in the actual chip and crack, that’s why those kits have a syringe 💉 that creates pressure so the resin can actually fill in the damage. That’s kind of the whole point to make the damage less noticeable, and so that it won’t spread, this at best prevents it from spreading, but the damage looks the same. You’re better off using one of those kits from permatex or rain x.
