I got a 2060 rog strix oc edition and it preforms great! I was wanting a 2080ti but the prices are through the roof so I settled with the 2060, Idk if I should upgrade since it preforms great for me, and I can game at max settings on every current game I play at 120 fps on average. The only reason I haven't upgraded is because my psu is 600 watts max and I haven't used my 2060 a lot and it works great for me. I just feel bad because the 2060 feels old to me with all the new 30 cards out now.

Don't get me wrong the 980ti was a great card and now my daughter is running it, but she's has a 1080 monitor where I'm running two 27 INCH 1440p monitors. It was a pretty serious load on that 980ti. Back in the day I had a GeForce 7600 with a core clock of 450mhz that went up to 600mhz, in comparison getting 155 extra mhz on a ghz+ core is negligible and shows how close to the limit chips are run at these days, and that GPU overclocking is now mostly pointless as the manufacturers are effectively doing it for us at the binning stage. The "choppiness" on the fans is called a "Beat", and an unfortunate design flaw caused by the fans running at nearly, but not quite, the same speed; simply differing the fans RPMs by eg 100 would've been an easy solution to that problem, I wonder how many, if any, makers of multi-fan products have addressed this issue. That's something that should really be mentioned more in PC building as I've seen, or rather literally heard, it crop up in many cases (punintended), especially with identical fixed-speed fans, where adding a speed control or simply a resistor to one of'em'd fix a problem that's subconsciously nagging at many people; the fact that it's subconscious for most is presumably the reason it's not consciously addressed much.

FPS games like Valorant in 2k I get 300+fps. It is still an absolute beast of a GPU, the only thing I'd like is frame generation, but that doesn't seem to be needed at the moment!

So i've had this card for a few months. (About 4) and i recently noticed that when it reaches 70 Degrees it completely ignores any fan curve settings and speeds up to 100% and stays there until temp goes under 70 which means playing games that are even slightly demanding ramps the temp up to 70 and fans go fucking crazy.
This happened in games like ARK and Destiny 2. And in D2 i even lowered alot of settings but temps would not go down and fans kept going at it. Granted im on a 1440p 165hz monitor from a 1080p 60hz but the problem is the fact that the card ignores the fan curve i've set for it at 70 and it just goes full speed.
I've also noticed a strange almost rattling noise coming from it for a second as its speeding up. I think it's happens at around 60-65% fan speed and then it just makes an uneven whirring sound at 100%. I might have a faulty one but it's just something to keep in mind if you're buying this card, it might have some proper issues.

@@voxelfusion9894 just something new. For such a big step in a new direction it is a new and different thing entirely almost. When car manufacturers release a new model, or a completely new thing, they don't just use the design they've been churning out since the '80s. I did love the strix design but...come on if this Turing lasts as long as Pascal we'll be talking about the same design for 5 years. It makes me wonder how much this is actually just a stopgap card like people have been suggesting. Think the real thing is coming next year with 7nm so this is more like a staggered release. I is an iconic design, but surely could have tweaked it for a strix 2.0 look.

Great and insightful video. Have you done any testing on the Super cards with NvLink? I'm curious what your opinion is on 2 RTX 2070 Supers vs a RTX 2080 Ti. Reason I ask... I've been running the dual 2070 Super cards, and I just picked up the ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti for $750 (open box deal). I run mostly VR gaming and regular gaming with the Supers... And while I'm done instances I'm getting improvement with the dual cards, I don't believe I benefit in the VR department. I couldn't pass up the deal on the 2080 Ti. What's your take? Should I replace the 2070 Supers with the single 2080 Ti? I figured I can use the 2070's in my wife and son's computers... But I'm also not one who likes to LOSE performance. Lol. Thanks again

Hey Jay, out of curiosity, do you know what RPM the fans would be spinning at towards those higher percentile curves? I ask this because Steve at GN covered in his original 1080 Ti comparison videos ages ago that the Strix ones end up being louder (compared to EVGA etc) because ASUS have those fans rated to spin at higher RPM’s, but generally speaking they never need to go that high. Just wondering if you know or what your thoughts are on this. Great video as always!
