Matpat: **takes like 10 minutes for every move**
Meanwhile Markiplier: Haha yes round over in 2 seconds.
Soo true mark is the definition of Rush E.

Flying Ururali or the 15/15 Orobourous is just OP

The rabbit hole goes DEEP on this one, y'all better strap yourselves in for a ride. Matt is going to have a mountain of Game Theory material from this, and the game itself is a trip too.
There is hidden lore but I don't think the hole is that deep. A lot of the lore is laid out by the end of the game.
Not really, the lore is pretty fleshed out.
@@mene1in it quite simple lore but the game itself is still fun
@@mene1in There’s more lore then what you see in the game. Like the fact that there apparently are links to his previous games (Pony Island and The Hex) and that they all take place within the same universe.
Yea
I would love to see MatPat continue playing Inscryption on GTLive.
I would too, but I've given up hope at this point.
based on how he did a theory of it he probably played the rest of cam so it really wouldn't be all to genuine reactions, maybe at some point he'll play the kaycee mod though seeing as it adds some more lore
Yes me too but hé don't do that
yes
Props to Matt for instinctively knowing that the mushroom indicated that he already had one of that card. Sad to see this game not played through to a climax.
I just realized that the mushroom is a nod to the Mycologist(s?) who's themed after mushrooms and he can combine duplicate cards to make them stronger
@@minorcomet282 it's not just "a nod", it directly symbolizes that you already have a card and can therefore combine them using the mycologist if you take another.
@@Tman_Hall you are correct, it isnt a nod, its a mushroom.
And a raised eyebrow for not realizing Bullfrog is good at blocking flying.
MatPat: "I see where it's headed, I think."
Oh, you don't see nothing yet.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
MUAHAHAHAHAA
YUP
you right lol and oddly enough this first section of the game is my favorite so far although im on the last section now
Why does everyone know something that i dont lol makes me desperately want to play the game for myself
Not everything is about jumpscares.
We're here because we wanna hear you theorize as you go.
I mean your also the Game Theorist, so we kinda want to see you play games once in a while.
Agreed, besides that the game gets very interesting pretty fast, while a lot of it is in the escape room mechanics there's still quite a few moments in the game itself that are fun to watch. And even the basic gameplay is intriguing because of how the game has been set-up. You quickly get to a point where you're basically trying to break the card-game and how you manage to do that is fun to see as well.
So record it, even if some of the matches will wind up repeating you'll just be able to play through those faster anyways so the pacing won't be hurting as much as you might think.
I think he clarified that because most of the games that weren't jumpscares pretty quickly didn't meet enough views for them not to be handicapping themselves by showing the game on GTlive, as he clarified in a previous video, they want to do what people want to see but when the stats don't reflect that desire they can't willingly show it off and feel like it's worth it.
[ insert long speech about Matpat playing games ]
Absolutely AGREED!!! I wanna see more this game looks amazing and deep!!!!
Yeah, I actually really enjoy watching him just play and go along with games like this, like I genuinely don't care about big reactions, I just wanna watch him figure the game out
I love how attached Matt got to his cards already. That's literally me.
I feel so bad when I sacrifice one
The Stoat is my best friend, and even in Act III when [REDACTED] occurs, I don't hold a grudge. We're still bros.

Matt at the end: "I think I know where this is going."
Me who finished the game: "You have no idea."
Indeed.
Honestly
Absolutely the truth
I have yet to use the bone key, but I've played the game from start to finish 5 times
As someone who has played this game, and who enjoys this channel, I will say two things.
One, I will watch and genuinely enjoy as many videos of this gameplay as you are willing to film, and I will be fully riveted.
Two, the lore is exceptionally deep here, and I think you’ll enjoy this game a lot- regardless of whether it’s here (hopefully!) or on your own time.
I have over 50 hours in this and I 100% agree
Watching this is a rage game
@@TotallyCisCatGirl yes it is painful but hopefully lore
Don’t forget about the ARG.
Sam C-137 I'd agree.
Matt: "So much hidden lore potential"
Me who has beat the entire game: "Ooooooooh, you have NO idea mate"
Ugh, the moment he decided to look up what the sacrifice stone was I got annoyed, don't ruin games like this by spoiling whats gonna happen for yourself...even if he found nothing it pisses me off
@@xXeragon224Xx youre rlly passionate abt this game huh?
@@Theezorfy Haha, yeah. It's more about with these games people should play them naturally and make their mistakes instead of being so wary that they have to rely on guides or walkthroughs.

Strange Larva actually was the best choice. Also, the lore important cards are obvious, and they usually talk.
strange larva is awesom and easily op specially when i gave it the double attack idr spelling of the actual skill but op af
I know there are many secrets not revealed in the descriptions (like the uoroborus increasing ins tats which I only found out in act 3) but I got it all the way to mothman and it's not that strong, what am I missing here?
@@shadowmaster-nk9cp the most busted thing i’ve seen was using 2 ouroboros and a cat and child 13 so the ouroboros become a win condition without trying
@@shadowmaster-nk9cp I guess because it does more than 5 attack damage it easily ends the battle? I would say the geck is the best because it’s free and has 1:1 stats so if you put an op sigil on it and use campfires you have a free game ender card.
@@projectmoonsleeperagent ye I know now I think before I read it as 1 attack lol, and I love geck too, my favourite card because it's so strong and also cute
37:10 An absolutely legendary moment where Matt loses a scripted loss fight even tho he could've won it. Play wolf + cat attack + the item that pulls a tooth out. 5 damage in total. I wonder what actually would happen if you beat him there.
I'm pretty sure they cheat and fill the board with grizzlies against you if you win. I believe that's what happened in ManlyBadassHero's playthrough.
@@LunaWitcher That is indeed what happens. This is one of those games where the scripted loss fights are literally unwinable.
There is actually a no death cards play through though
@@LunaWitcher Same thing if you get to the angler on the first run, or at least that's what happened to me. After defeating the first life I got "TOO SOON" and it filled with grizzlies.
It's interesting that you CAN actually beat the "scripted losses" as long as one of your cards has 5 attack power and you have the scissors to cut up a card. The game continues as normal and you can even beat Leshy, but since you don't have access to the film roll, you don't progress.
Please continue this series, overthinking the rounds is half the game
22:49: It's so wholesome seeing Matt grow attached to these magical creatures he's just met.
ew
You should definitely continue. The game isn't all cards, it goes far deeper.
I love how the game teaches you several times that sacrifices *must* be made. You WILL need to sacrifice something. It can be a creature on the board, it can be an item on your backpack to create room for more, it can be a card so you can have a better card, it can be even a body part, but either way, if you want to progress, sacrifices MUST. Be. Made.
"Whether they spill oil or bones, it does not matter... sacrifices must be made"
- Leshy
"I see where it's headed"
He has no idea where it's headed.
Im so terribly sad you never finished playing this game 😭😭😭 I LOVE the story of this game and really really wanted to see MatPat go through the whole thing for the first time and uncovering its secrets. Why did y'all decide not to continue!!! All the comments screamed to continue playing!!!! I feel betrayed *nooooo* :(
Love this channel, love this game; I'm rewatching this and wishing he continued his playthrough for all of us to see
I love this game. Such an interesting concept and smashing together of genres.
MATT. every video, I've been telling to play The Hex. Every Livestream I've TWEETED you to play The Hex. Now you've skipped the Hex and are playing his next game INSCRYPTION?
Ever play The Hex? One of the other games by the guy who made this one. Pretty much every stage of that game is a completely different genre (while still keeping up with the trademark meta weirdness).
I’m very glad they’re playing it, I hope they beat it
Deck builders, rogue-likes, and horror games are some of my favorite genres and this game scratches an itch I didn't know I had.
you like the concept??? you should try magic the gathering preferably the card game
He definitely should continue playing this game, it’s one of my favourites
As smart as he is, sometimes it feels like he's unable to think at all.
"I need cards to play"
*takes cards from the deck without squirrels*
A shame he didn't play any other chapters... would've been fun to watch
As everyone else is saying you must continue this, one of my favourite games this year and some INSANE theory potential/many many secrets to find, if you thought Pony Island was insane this turns it up several notches
pony island and incryption are from the same dev
Please continue to play it, Matpat. It's a really great and fun game that really moved me by the end of it. I think it's definitely full of theory potential.
*offers you a handshake*

@@smileybones9172 Must...still...shake...your hand
I'm so excited to hear his theories!
I love when Steph piped in randomly, made me smile that she still exists ☺️
If you like games with an escape-room type feel, I highly suggest you play "The Room" series by Fireproof Games. The basic setup is that you are locked in a room with only a puzzlebox that you have to get open in order to progress to the next level but there is tons of lore hidden around or just given to the player through cryptic letters, recurring images, etc. It's creepy and sinister, with an almost steampunk vibe. I think you'd really love the puzzle-solving, the game itself is visually stunning, and the highly intriguing lore would make for a great Game Theory episode!
The Room was great!
The Room series is GREAT! A super underrated series of puzzle games
This game has so much that I can't wait for Matpat to unfold.
Inscryption is incredible, calling it a scary game is a bit of a reach though lol
Scary vibes rather than actually being scary itself. Tho there is horror secrets hidden about.
I'd say it's a tad more creepy
Not fully scary
The ‘scary’ parts tone down after the first act... but that’s when the lore starts to really kick in.
Well it’s the kind of horror people tend to look over
@@BiblioRook personally I think it ramps up, just different tones
It’s such a shame @gtlive never picked this game back up. It’s literally so heavy with lore that it would of been right up Matpat’s alley. I guess he did a theory on it which is crazy that he decided to go with other games that aren’t really his normal games. Except for Fnaf. Oh well, I was really excited to see he played this since I just finished it but who knows maybe one day he’ll pick it back up but it’s probably not happening if he played it for the theory… sigh lol.
"I see where it's heading"
Everyone who's played past a certain point: *laughs in you have absolutely no clue*
YEES THEY ARE PLAYING IT. PLEASE KEEP PLAYING TILL THE END.
soooo glad you played this, after seeing aliensrock full playthrough of this... This has SOOOO much lore you want to see; so PLAY THROUGH IT (it will take awhile but it is really fun and lore packed)

@@Schadrach42 true though, but that is beatable with scissors.
@@kaialva6821 you don't even need scissors I just beat it easily using a set up of undying geck and death card and some squirrel stalling (I might have some pelts too)

@@shadowmaster-nk9cp, Unkillable Squirrels are the most OP. (Totem power go!)

I'm kind of disappointed Matt didn't go farther into this game
The lore is amazing and the gameplay is exciting too !
Let's hope he'll at least make a good theory out of this game
He did, but sad to see he didn’t continue playing inscryption idk y
I actually wouldn't mind him doing a video on the more ARG related stuff in the game like the Old Data and the bits of code and in-depth lore of the world.
Yes! That's one rabbit hole I didn't bother pursuing, but I would love to see if matpat can piece it together for us!
@@smileybones9172 it was pieced together in the inscryption discord, but not all of it is there yet.
I immediately got the binary to text translator for that one 'card'. Translates to "deep beneath"
This! Can't agree more, the whole ARG bit would be great to see a video on, that part is a bit harder to get into on your own and I've yet to find a youtuber that bothers looking into that part.
This thing goes back to the hex it's not really necessary to play that but I would like for him to play that
Yes! Now the question is if he gets trough the whole thing. ‘So much hidden lore potential’ indeed.
Not sure just what to say or not say to both encourage seeing through to the end but also not give anything away.
'Gonna be perfectly honest, I got so used to Jacksepticeye's voiceover for the guy I heard Mat reading his lines and wondered why he had Voice Acting off.
Mark to I literal thought there was voice acting
Another CZcams called manlybaddasshero did a very good impression
Matt deeply overthinking the sacrifice stone is hilarious to me
00:16 "So much hidden lore potential."
Oh MattPatt...you don't even know the half of it.
If anyone's having trouble with beating Leshi: you pick Mantis God, then sacrifice it and give its three-way attack to the minion with the most attack. That's 1/3 of the game beaten.
One word: Ouroboros. That’s the other 2/3s of the game beaten.
You could also sacrifice the mantis god to the ouroboros, making the ouroboros beat the whole game
@@BiblioRook Interesting, I never actually got Ouroboros to work. What does it do? It said that it just returns to your hand, but apparently it buffs as well.
@@alanspirand880 whenever it dies, i gets a permanent +1 +1, and I mean permanent. It lasts between death and between acts. You can get a 50 50 unit that always wins

I think they will, they just can't really right now since they were busy with St Jude and now Security Breach
They already did a theory about it

Mat: How do you stop flying enemies?
Game: Here's a bullfrog with air defender to stop flying enemies.
Also Mat: I don't care about flying.
Fun fact: most people fail their boss in prospector for not being strategy wise and it was unexpected, and here is matt going 5 head
This game has tons of lore hidden behind the game, hopefully we get to see more!
Now that fnaf is over i REALLY hope to see more of this game on the channel! i really think mat could find a lot of secrets here :D
Pov: you're rewatching this so that you can fill the game theory inscription sized hole in your heart
I really hope he keeps playing this!! I watched Jack play this not that long ago and really wish he would have made it a series to get more into the lore of it so if Mats willing Id love to watch more!!
For the grizzly fight -you could have won it: The cat you played was the enhanced cat - one damage. If you played the wolf, with your emergency squirrel it would have been guaranteed the first attack - +3 damage. Finally, before ending your turn you could have used the pliers - +1 damage. In total, 5 damage, winning on the first round.

I love watching people solve puzzles. It's relaxing, in a way. And I'm really loving the commentary on the animals. I would have went with Geck.
God I really hope you cover this game, it's absolutely phenomenal
oh this is a great game, I cant wait to see what kind of theories mat manages to pull out of this one
Im so vey upset i didnt get to watch my favorite gaming creator play my favorite story game through 😭😭😭
I terribly wish MatPat would've continued this playthrough. WHY DIDN'T HE LISTEN TO THE COMMENTS LIKE HE ASKED? He asked if we wanted to watch and we said YES! and he didn't continue 😭
It's fun to go "YEAH PLAY THAT CAR-- NO NOT THAT ONE, THE OTHER ONE" everytime you start thinking about what card to play
I chose geck in my playthrough his catch is that he costs nothing so he’s a card that deals damage for a price of a squirrel and if you get the sigil that allows him to go right to your hand after it dies it becomes super OP
Or touch of death, maybe both. But imagine a death card with zero cost and unlikable and touch of death.
@@elite_dragon3394 Not the strongest death card, far from it. Strongest death card I've seen is Pelt Cost, 200-death Ouroboros Stats, and Trifurcated Strike + Fecundity + Corpse Eater, + Guardian. So it costs nothing, deals 201 damage, strikes three tiles, duplicates itself when played, instantly plays itself when a creature dies, and blocks any enemy creature attacks. I can only imagine their horror during the moon stage.
I really want to see a full playthrough of this, but I feel this is one of those games that will be hard for him to find the time to play.
I don't see why he assumed Leshy was a pirate. You can't even see his face till the end of act 1, he doesn't speak in a pirate like tone, act 1 takes place in a cabin in the woods, not a ship, and you play woodland creatures like squirrels and wolves. Nothing about him screams pirate.
54:24 - I just realized who Child 13 is! It's the *Jersey Devil.* The story is he was the 13th child and when his mother was giving birth, she screamed, "Let it be the devil!"
I watched Markiplier play this. I learned I should pay more attention when crocheting and binging youtube. I thought there was actual voice acting, and not Markiplier with stellar character capturing.
Jack did the same thing and I thought it was the game 😂
Matt: "Devolver Games"
Me: "ENTER THE GUNNNNNGEEEEON"
I think the reason Geck is a rare card is because it has no cost.
As someone who really enjoys card/deck building games, seeing someone who doesn't seem like they play them all that often go through a game and misunderstand or read too much/not enough into things is interesting to say the least. Like seeing MatPat totally miss that the bullfrog would DEFEND against flying, because he's only thinking about attacking them.
That kinda had me dumbstruck lol
Anybody else want mat to play little nightmares 2
He played the demo back when it first came out and spent the entire video complaining about the game having bad controls and being a mess. It wasn’t but sometimes Matt does that when he has a hard time with a game lol
Dude I just want deltarune but that's clearly not gonna happen :(
I. Am. So. Happy.
Thank you for playing this Matt, hope we get a theory on this!
keep going! I didn't even notice 5 minutes had passed on a single turn I was too invested in your rationing to notice lol, I think I like this game now haha.
Geck being like 'I have no redeeming qualities'
Gameplay spoilers:
Took it in my first playthrough and had it as a cost choice for my first deathcard. Pretty convenient, as I got the stats of a wolf and ended up with an economically powerful card.
Was hoping you'd play this, so much potential lore in the later game
This game has quickly become a favourite of mine due to all of its hidden secrets and layers. There's tons of material in this game to theorize about, so I'm really looking forward to it!
I absolutely love this! It’s refreshing to see something more calming rather than something super energetic. I’m not a fan of podcasts but I love to have something on in the background, and I feel like this series would be perfect to listen in on while working. Please give us more, this was an amazing video!
Mats like a child playing Mario for the first time without knowing that you can jump
Matt: You know nothing John.

The creator of pony island (daniel mullins) also created "the hex" before inscryption, which is also a really good game with a cool story and game mechanics
watching him overthink every single random bit of this game is hilarious
This is one of my favorite games. I was surprised at the amount of unique mechanics and twists there were in the game.
The thing about Geck is he has no cost to play, so you can put powerful sigils on him and strengthen him at campfires. Overall, probably the most powerful of the 3 rare cards you got in terms of how strong you can make it. Strange Larva's good though, so is child 13, but Geck, man.
50:40 Should've put Grizzly against that Wolf.~ But you manage to win anyway.
oh my god YES FINALLY this game has SOOOO much lore to it and really is just so many curveballs in a row!!!! matpat's gonna have so much fun if he can get through it all :)
The twists this game goes through definitely can be surprising. I was so glad hearing that he was going into it completely blind.
i really enjoy when Matpat talk about data and stuff to look for because he always sounds like he knows what he is doing
It's time to duel and there's no backing down
The heart of the cards is where magic is found
We've played this game before, but never quite this way.
It's like an all out war. With monsters that obey
FYI Daniel Mullens is a single developer (did both this and Pony Island by himself - that’s why it’s been so long before this came out) and it was just published by Devolver
More more more! Fun to watch, looks like possibly different endings with the card choices, seems actually difficult, I can’t speak for everyone but I love the story told games like this .
Had a horrible day today where I just want to wrap myself in blankets and cry. And yet I already know watching GTlive will brighten my day just a little.
Oh.. That sucks.. But just don't give up yet!
About the escape the night thing: The riddle, if I'm not mistaken, requests for a wedding ring of a dead man. Mat definitely fulfilled both criterias (he died on episode 5 and was then resurrected.) Honestly, it would've been so funny if Mat ended up doing that in the final cut, especially since the actual solve of that puzzle was very similar (they had to go get the dead man resurrected and then get his ring). Definitely would have deprived the other contestants some solving moments and straight Joey (though I would not be very sad to never have seen that), which is why it was understandably cut, but it is a solve that would have been perfect for the specific circumstance they were in.
I really want to see more of this game! I love hearing the strategy behind it! Plus I want to watch Matt discover all the secrets this game has to offer!!!
