    41:10 the dual voice coil rear sub channel(s) were used as a pair of 6.75 inch single voice coil subs in convertible models, with the full-range rear channels unused in the convertible. A popular mod on convertibles retaining the factory amp is jsut replacing those rear subs with a pair of good 2 ohm 6x9s and using the unused rear channels for those.

    Great video James, the result was so clean!
    A little "fun fact" on the DAB thing - In Norway the government decided to close the FM "network" we've always used here and replace it with DAB+ within the end of last year.
    So now all cars with a standard FM radio won't have ANY sound if they don't buy ridiculously expensive DAB adapters or change out their head-units to listen to the (Yes, higher sound quality, but) underdeveloped antenna-networks.
    We have shit radio reception everywhere but in major cities or densely populated areas at the moment, and nobody is happy with it :(

    Awesome job!!! That’s what I like to see, all Alpine setup. Almost! Too bad you couldn’t get an Alpine subwoofer. Alpine needs to come out with a 3 way speaker system. I’d be first in line to get them!!! Lol

    My question is why would you set the high amp at 30-40 htz at a safe setting? If the settings at the deck got turned off wouldn't it be to low on your mids from the amp?!?!

  • @bryanp4827
    @bryanp4827 Před 4 lety

    It's ok to say the rears aren't as high in the top end, because the component teeeters are right in your face and the mid bass is down on the floor...

    Hi, very interesting your CZcams channel! you are passionate and you do a good job, Bravo! Tell me, can you give me some advice on choosing a robust car radio that offers a good sound Please? Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood? My budget is very limited, in a range of $ 170 maximum, I can have what good, robust and complete Please? I have an old amplifier Audison srx5 (5 channels) which works very well and I think to head to speakers in two-way kit 16 cm brand Focal (Flex), what do you think Please? Thank you very much for your help 😉👍🏽

    Good looking system, I was very impressed with the X Series. For the haters on the box, fuck 'em, if she comes back you could always do a 8mm beauty panel with magnets to grab on to the crew heads with a foam backing. would look killer. :) Great videos!

    Still doing time correction wrong, real shame after the long rant I had last time, that’d partially explain why the left side was hard to hear given you delayed the left by 55cm or so relative to the right

    The price for the Alpine and Focal are totally different in the USA. The type X components retail for $500 and the coaxial for $400 but if you get them in sets it is even cheaper. 2 sets of type x component go for $750 and a component and a coaxial go for $700. The focal 3 way it's much more expensive an $700 minimum on amazon and retailing for $1,000 so you can get 2 sets of type x for the price of one Focal 3 way.

    James you should match your filters when dealing with amps that don't have a bypass on the filters and using the head-unit filters as well. I always buy a DSP or amps with a built in DSP and turn my head-unit's filters off. AKA Defeat. Your boss should look into Audison or Brax and, Helix amps. It's hard to beat Focal for sound. They use hi quality materials and have top rate quality control. You do good work for a newbie, keep up the good work.

    Are you moving the store?
    Have you tryied the jl multimeter method of setting gains?

    • @kn7671
      @kn7671 Před 6 lety +1

      Only gets you in the ballpark, and that all depends on the levels in the music you listen too. I set me JL Audio to the voltage specified using a 50 Hz sine wave, and then I had low volumes of bass during music play. When I put the multimeter on hold Max value, the amp was outputting less than half the peak non-clipped voltage during music play. There are many ways to set the gains, though none are the end-all-be-all solutions.

  • @arose60
    @arose60 Před 6 lety

    The pdx full range amp gain min gain setting is 4v... the markings are completely arbitrary, your logic would dictate the max setting is for a -2.5v input which isn’t possible

    Quick question, I am planning to install some Rockford fosgates T152S speakers (4 of them in total) . Those speakers are rated at 75w RMS and they so require an external amp to run them on their full potential. I am planning to buy an amp in the future but my question is : will there be a problem if I run them off my JVC car stereo amp (which is 50w x 4) ; Will I get at least some decent sound out of them before getting the external amp;

    • @johnremsenjr.1999
      @johnremsenjr.1999 Před 6 lety +1

      Actually u should do an external amp head units that are rated 50×4 in actuality are like 15-18x4 watts so u won't come close to their full potential hope that helps!!##??

    • @MikeProios
      @MikeProios Před 6 lety

      John Remsen Thanks for the reply, I mean I understand but you know do I have an alternative; I will do the external amp I know what you mean, however my budget doesn't allow that to happen now that's why I am asking if there is a problem playing them with the head unit for a while.

    • @johnremsenjr.1999
      @johnremsenjr.1999 Před 6 lety +1

      I mean you can but you risk damaging your speaker's I would keep all the bass down and treble med-high on the head unit because they really don't give a clean signal but honestly if you have a nearby pawn shop or use eBay and amazon you could get a amp an wiring kit for roughly $50-75 if that suits your budget or save up for it when u can because you will get the best and safest performance out of your speaker's I use RF they make really good product's just don't want to see you damage your equipment you already vested in but by any means they will sound better then factory just adjust the head unit appropriately an keep all the bass off so your speaker's don't distort or crackle hope that helps!!##??

    • @MikeProios
      @MikeProios Před 6 lety

      John Remsen Thanks for the help. That's why I asked in the first place because I don't want to destroy them. Do you have a recommendation, like a good amplifier?

      @avrajsamra4548 Před 6 lety

    Do you think you’d be able to incorporate more brands in ?
    I mean you really appreciate focals.
    But the designer of the focal utopia series left the focal company and started his own firm.
    With the name BLAM AUDIO.
    I’d suggest them to you because I just got them and they sound really natural and nice.
    If you can then try them out.
    Also more regular uploads please.

    I love your channel, but clearly you dont know how to tune an amp. A subsonic filter is a hpf. That little shitty pioneer isnt playing 15 hz, and then to reason 30hz because it is in a small enclosure is the wrong reasoning. The components have passive xovers. I dont mean to be rude or anything, i just think to set up amps using what you think is correct, is very much misleading and youll cause ppl to damage their equipment. Pull out a multimeter if you dont have a dd1
