- So a lot of people have no idea how to buy a dirtbike. In this video i discuss some tips and things to keep in mind when buying a bike. I focus mostly on honda bikes in this video, but you can find the equivalent bike for any manufacturer if you go to their website.
This is my opinion so if you disagree thats fine. Im not a pro, im just someone who has bought a few dirtbikes in my time.
EDIT: THIS IS ABOUT 4 STROKE BIKES. NOT 2 STROKES. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
shouldnt of scared ppl away from the race bikes... they are just fine for trails...
i never said they weren't "fine for trails" because any dirt bike is fine for trails hence the name DIRT bike. Race bikes are just impractical for 90% of new riders who are trying to learn or something. Like i said in the video, they usually require constant maintenance to keep them running, so unless you are specifically looking for a bike like that, buy a more trail oriented bike. Again, thats not to say race bikes CANT do trails. Thats just from my experience after trying to learn on a crf250r when i was 12.
@@ChannelofThings yeah i had a race bike and it just blew up after a year of trail riding do not do it.
Well In my perspective I think that some trails should be used with a race bike some shouldn’t, wide open trails should be used with race bikes, compact tight and tricky trails go with a enduro bike.
@@ChannelofThingsthe first bike I rode was an 02 kx125 tuned and used for races, it wasnt that bad
@@benradford8780 you can ride trails just u can’t go too slow
Whats funny is I actually ended up buying a Kawasaki kx 250f. lol
thats okay they dont make a kx or cr.
Good video, I'm an experienced rider and I agree with your recommendations. A lot of people buy too much bike when they're starting out.
One of the best videos, straight to the point. Congrats! Wow! this was posted on 2016? Still valid.
Kawasaki is way easier to find, suzuki is a lil more rare... at least where I live
Same here
Great video man! I subscribed
I'm glad I found this video very helpful bro
you beat me to it! I always wanted to make a channel like this that dosent have limited content.
very honest, thanks for telling your point of view.
I think what really matters is if you have fun with ur bike
Subscribed. Ur pretty funny and informative which is what I came here for
finally! great video that gets the point across.
finally! great comment that gets the point across
awesome video! and the end was very accurate by the way
thanks buddy
"John what about Kawasaki....? Nnn...no" I couldn't stop laughing I thought I was gonna die
super cool video keep them coming
You were not clear I ended up with a yz250
So you got confused between a yz250f, and yz250?
Yikes. that's a huge power difference.
Are you new?
Vortex AWESOME machines, bro !!!!!!! AND...u can, like everyone, take it in and get it race-readied by making engine bigger better for less than 1500$ or even way less
Liuses5 Gaming ikr
if you really wanna ride dirt the race models are the best
Hey man, don't know if this will be seen since it's been 2 months since you uploaded, but it would be cool if you could specifically do a video on dual sports, the blue plated ones. Thanks for the info man vid was great.
Edit: just saw that you replied to a comment 17 hours ago so forgive me
haha ya dont worry im stick active. Summer is busy for me so I just havent had time. Actually i uploaded a video about a month ago, but there were a bunch of copyright issues for a song I used so i took it down because it was only allowed to be shown in Canada for some reason. Anyways ya Im going to make another dirtbiking video one of these days when i get the time
Excellent video
I’m 12 but I’ve been riding for 6 yrs and I know how to ride and four of those years spent on clutch
I love your dirtbike videos
I'm 17 turn 18 in the summer, I am 5'11 6'0, and weigh about 130. I rode quads in the past but never really got into dirt bikes. I also have long legs and arms compared to my torso. What do you think is a good beginner bike for me?
Thx for the tips bro
Good video, I could have used this when I was buying a bike. Except that unlike honda and suzuki, yamaha have actually improved their bikes since the 80's.
I bought a 97 kx 125 2 stroke as my beginner trails bike .wasnt terrible in the woods but I stalled a lot and staying in the power band is hard and having to constantly shift
I think that whatever bike we start out with whether that’s a Honda Yamaha or Suzuki I was a kid is the bike that we most likely will go with for the rest of our lives
a) practically everyone rides 'race bikes' on the trails around meb) the bigger the engine doesn't mean higher top speed, sprockets will do that for you, though it will have more powerc) two strokes are much easier to learn on, less flipping power, less maintenance ive rode a 250 2 stroke all my life and ive loved every second of it. I would recommend an older race model to anyone, learners or not, because they are simple and cheaper, plus don't look like an endurocross bike from the 90's
This video is really helpful, it's great. I personally started riding dirt bikes in February 2016 (but have been riding ATV's since I was 4 and can ride them extremely well) on a 1996 cr125. It was my first dirt bike. But I needed more power, not enough low rpm torque to lug through tight trails or do any sort of serious enduro. So back in September 2016 I bought a 2001 cr250, I was very model/year specific because almost everyone said that 01 cr250's had the most usable power. The bike's power is extremely comfortable and EXTREMELY fun to ride. So as this comment is being posted, I am 16, weigh 135, and am 5'7. Not even one year of riding dirt bikes, only thing I don't like about the bigger bikes is that i'm 5'7 and I can't quite touch the ground to save the bike from falling over some times, like sideways on a hill, or going over rocks or branches. I'd say just test some bikes that you think you'd be able to ride.
ya i agree. Ive always been tall, heck ive been 6'5 since i was 15, but even I couldnt touch the ground when i started riding at 13, and i was about 6'0 at the time.
Channel of Things you were a tall kid Holy crap I'm five foot five inches and I ride trails and I have a klx125l is that bad? Do I need to upgrade?
nothing is "bad" dude its up to you. If you feel like you are ready for a bigger bike, and the current one isnt doing it for you anymore, maybe think about an upgrade. The way i see it, if you are content with your current bike, why change it?
I'm 16, 5'9", 145 lbs, and I drive a drz400. I fit it perfectly like magic lol.
That’s a great bike for anyone!
Hey I'm 15 years old 6'1" 170 pounds and I've rode a Honda 50cc (3-gears) that doesn't have a clutch for around 2 years now which is the only experience I have on a bike. As you can imagine it is very, very small for me to ride. I want to move up in size and speed of the bike so where I can comfortably fit onto the bike and it won't be too hard for me to get used to since I don't have much experience in riding dirt bikes outside of the small 50cc Honda I mentioned earlier. Which dirtbike and size do you recommend me moving up to? I would really appreciate the input, thank you
this vid actually helped me get that bike
Good video and i need one for the road and trials
what about the crf150rb? i take its in the same league as the 250r because of the "r" but i was really thinking of that one over the crf230 because of the better suspension and lighter weight. i'm 5' 6" 150 lbs an intermediate rider who's looking for a step up from a klx 140l. thoughts?
The problem with me is that I can't find anywhere to buy a dirtbike. I live in northern jersey and there aren't any dealerships around that I've seen
ok so im 26, not the tallest guy coming in at 5ft 9 im not a beginner but i can ride, i have had a yamaha R6 on the road for the last 6 years and looking to move to on and off road and i want a kawasaki or yamaha 4stroke, what do you recommend? we all know i'd love a YZ450F or KX450f but is it oo much? on the other hand is a 250 enough for on the roads?
I’m 13 4’11 and a beginner what size should I get. The 110 fits me pretty good but I don’t want to grow too much for it. So what’s your opinion
a 250r is not problem at all, it lasts, it’s reliable. the perfect bike
I'm a beginner BEGINNER and I'm going to buy a road legal XR250. It's garaged which in Malta it means the road licence is on hold but can be revived any time. Which also means it has not been used for a while. Haven't seen it yet. I'm going to see it tommorow. Price is €1250 which I think translates to about $1500 US. Any comments, advice?
I think you did a great job I think you can expand on the other brands as well and why not the video apparently got a lot of lot of views make another
I'm 15, 185cm tall (6ft 1?) and weigh 100kgs (220 pounds?), moving up from a Honda CT200. Not the tallest bike, not the most powerful, but it's been good for me. I only ride off road, not really any single, small trails but old wooding tracks and stuff. Anyway, my friends recommend I get a DRZ-400. They say (and I have researched!!) that it's heavy (my CT weighs 130 wet, the DRZ about 134 wet, so not much different), slower than a lot of 250s, but tough. I've thrashed my little AG bike, might've killed it completely, so I need reliable for sure (I only know basic maintenance things anyway). I'm a very relaxed rider, prefer to take it slower and explore rather than ping around on the same tracks over and over. My friend just got a CRF250x, moving up from a CRF150f (he's been riding all his life) and it's a wee bit too powerful for him at the moment. So yeah, if anyone could be bothered reading this, please provide me with a second opinion.
Oh, I forgot to mention that my friends bike has all the restrictors taken out. I have no idea what it would be like with them. All my other friends have 250s, each is (unlike what you said at the start) quite different to each other.
Hey guys, so I've been riding for a year now, I had a '98 Yz80 (which is just an older 85) and have outgrown it. I am looking for a 4 stroke now, and I don't really want a trail bike tho, and I can't afford a crf150r, I've rode my dad/brothers 250f, and I did pretty good on it, except since im only like 5'2, I could only basically 1 foot holding me up. Any ideas on a good 4 stroke bike when u just have outgrown a 85?
I am 5 foot 8, I ride a 1999 Honda xr100r, and a 1999 Honda xr200r. Both are pretty easy to ride!
actually liked this bro
thanks bro
I am 14 years old, and I have never touched a dirt bike. What would you recommend for a good starter bike for me?
I'm saving my money for a bike. I'm gonna get a Honda CRF250R. I can't wait to have the money and then finally buy the bike.
Start on a 250, they have power and are intimidating at first, but you can grow into them and not have to keep upgrading
Hello, I am 15 years old, currently ride a rancher 420 quad, and have had experience on a baja warrior 200 for 4 years. I do trail riding and a little bit of open field. I also have experience with a 400ex aka the xr 400 as a quad. I'm looking at a budget of $500 what would you recommend?
I want to start dirt biking. What's a low maintenance 250 bike that'll last forever?
an older yz425f, wr400f, wr426f are also really good bikes..super reliable i had a wr400f with 600 hours on the original engine
I'm 19 , 6ft at 155lbs .what bike would suit me I'd be using it in fields/dirt tracks /forests trails
ok so im 14 im fairly new to riding but ive rode a few times before and ive done lots of bmx and im thinking somthing like a crf 235 f {an older 1} im very tall 6'3 but im light too 130 pounds do you thing i should just get a 250 or get the 235
I’m 12 and ride a 2001 Honda Xr 100 and I still have at least another year on it. How would I fit a 200?
Hey!!! In December is my 14 th birthday. I am a beginner and the bike is not for the street. What schould I buy???
My friend with a lot of dirt bike experience recently purchased a crf100 for $800, he is 14, do you think it is too small?
I'm 14 years old and I'm 6 foot+
I really don't know what to get as every dirt bike online is too small for me to ride and the ones I can are way to expensive any advice ? Or even a name of a cheap make that's ride able for a taller person
Is it ok to buy a 250 to start off road riding. Like no road and butt load of hills
I use to dirt bike when I was around 7-10 ish and I rode a 65 and sometimes a 85 2 stroke but sadly I got out of it but I miss it and now I am 14 weighting 150 lbs and want to get a 250 2 stroke, I am a decent rider because I some times foo around on friends bikes and I was wondering if a 250 2 stroke is a good choice
hey man i have experience using a clutch i ride a 300ex 1993 sportrax but I've been saving up for a bike i want a 2 stroke what size should i buy I'm 17 and 5'9 i weigh 285 what size should i buy my friend and my dad both say kx100 but i really like cr80r any suggestions
Hey I loved your video! Your direct, to the point, and no holds barred. So I need your advice. I've never had a dirt bike! I have wanted one since I was ten! My parents wouldn't buy me or my brother one and we are both speed crazy! My brother and I have mastered any motorized vehicle we've very owned! Cars, trucks, atv's, boats. We find out what they can do and we learn to do it well! So I need your advice......I personally have never ridden a motorcycle, but want to learn. My strategy is to learn motorcross safely then move onto road motorcycles in about 2 years. I am 5 foot 7 inches tall and weigh 185 lbs. My thought process was to begin with a CRF150F but thought it may be a little small for me. My feet touch the ground but it may be underpowered even for learning. I may get bored quickly. Should I move up to the CRF230F without any experience? I appreciate your advice. Thanks.
You sound like someone who likes to push the limits of your machines so ya you will probably get bored of a 150. So definitely move up to a 230 ya. It is good for a learner bike. I have two friends who learned on them. You are an odd situation because you are speed crazy, but might struggle with the sheer size of a more powerful bike. I personally learned on a drz400, but I am also 6'5" 230lbs, so I was considerably larger than you, even when I was younger and just learning. So I would definitely say at least a 230cc for you. Also thats a good idea to start on dirt, thats what I did. At the moment I ride a dual sport dirtbike, but Im looking for a road bike soon. Good luck with your endeavors :-)
What dirt bike would be the best size for someone who is 5ft,1
Okay, the Kawaski joke you made at the beginning was funny. But at Carnegie I see atleast 6 kawasaki's for one suzuki... I don't know if it's the same at Canada I'm assuming not though.
Help me out. I'm looking to get a used 250-300 to keep for land I have. Will be first time riding. I'm 6 and 200. Also wanna get into street bike after that so a bike that will help me get into that. Thx
i bought a 2005 crf250r for 2200 no problems and easy to run and start
Gage Schroeder but do you still give it alot of maintenace because i dont want to get a motorcross bike if i need to do all that.
I'm getting a 2004 Honda 450 for 2000 dollar's I live in Arizona:)
Gage Schroeder probally bout to blow up tho
So in my case I can either buy a 1997 CRF125 for $2600 or pay $3,500 and get a 2020 crf125fb with fuel injection, and electric start. Kind of a no-brainer there.
Hi im 14, 64 kg, 1.72 tall and i am looking for a rmz 250 or crf 250 between 2007 and 2009, you said to not buy that, and better buy a crf x, but i have just 1300 euro, thats about 1800 dollars i think, a crf x from 2005 or 2006 is about 2400 dollars, wich i cant buy , its that bad a crf250r? , if i buy it with enduro suspensions? I dont think, what you say? I wanna use it just for like 5 years, and after, my dreambike, husqwarna fe 350, at about 6000 dollars ( an about 2 years used bike, nearly new )
lets go you live in Ontario same so this is perfect for me
Is a crf150rb a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke? Sry this is a really dumb question. I'm new to dirt bikes.
Thanks! just got a new bike.yamaha 250
Enjoyed the video, and fun editing :) Just wish I did not have to crank my audio all the way up to hear it :(
i am aware of the sound quality :-/ sorry this was a year ago when i had no idea how to edit sound properly. It gets better in newer videos (i hope)
I love my 2017 Yz450f and I’m 14 riding a 450 I 😍
im 14 so obviously im not going to be on the roads riding on a dirtbikes but if i was on a road it would be inside the neighborhoods..so you do you have suggestions on some fast dirtbikes around the 1,000 dollar price range?.. also just wanted to say Great Video it was both funny and imformational. I just turned fourteen two weeks ago or so, never rode a dirtbike, I don't have anyone to teach me but videos on CZcams, I'm about five foot two and above the average weight than other kids my age, I can't afford expensive bikes, looking for something *_at least_* under three thousand dollars, I would like dual sport or trail bike, I live in the United states, favorite primary color is red, especially for dirtbikes, just love that color, I really, really love dirtbikes even though I have never ridden one and have only seen them on video, if you need to ask any questions to help pick a bike best for me, Ill gladly answer them if I can, thank you!
Does anyone know a good beginner bike for a 14 year old that is under 2,000 it doesn't matter what brand as long as I can take it out with my friends ever so often I also want to go on trails with it

What if there isn’t any used beginning bikes in my area
Can someone explain me what exactly changed though the years in for example a cr 250?
Or tell me where I can read about this.
The thing I have the most fear of is the age of the bike, because I dont want to buy a bike wich doenst even start lol
I saw in many videos that old bikes, f.a. a cr 250 96 this is crazy af, but I cant realy trust them.
what would you recommend for a person (KID) who's 5'4
Is a honda crf 150r good enough for a 15 year old with a bit of experience
I'm 15 and live on some property, so I'm interested in buying a bike just for fun. But I'm only 5'3 so I don't know if I should get a bigger bike, if so what bike should I look for.
Derril Lasseigne get an 85
Im 15 and a begenner and i want something fast and cheap what do you recamend
can anyone help me, im looking for a trail bike, im turning 13 years old, im 6 feet tall, and beginner... Im looking at kx125 2 stroke
Two Strokes are the best (CR-125). Idk if you are allowed to even have those in Canada but in Merica we let the power bands scream.

I'm 14 and I have a CRF 230f and it's not too small. Electric start and everything

Well I’m 15 and my mom finally lets me get a motorcycle. She said she will let me get a moped. After some years ill try convincing her to let me get a dirt bike
