Great work, your tests with the wast oil mix ratio are going to help lots of people save money and maintaining time. Greatly appreciated.
Dear sir, thank you for you effort. I hope this will help me and my family stay warm in winter, when here in Europe the power and gas will be depleted.
I certainly hope you will be warm and my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your families!

Nice, this is how we refine function by not being afraid to try different things, excellent vid.
Nice setup! Looking forward to Your updates! Keep up the good work.👍
This is awesome I literally just ordered a diesel heater before I saw your video and I was thinking about doing this exact thing. I’m a mechanic and I also do my own oil changes. My truck holds 12qts of oil and is equipped with a 2 micron absolute bypass filter, so hopefully clean oil shouldn’t be a problem for me, as for as the mixture I’m very excited to see your findings.
Can't wait to see you complaining about the carbon fauling the gauze. as it will do
@@pauls466 the gauze being the glow plug screen? Or something else?
I think the biggest secret to running these things on other fuels is run it wide open all the time otherwise they are going to clog up way quicker
I think that running wide open definitely helps. There is also no way around getting deposits from the oil. Using waste oil is just nice to get some "free" heat.
Not only changed the pump angle, but also it's height, perfect!
Cheap heat is the whole point! No apologies needed😉
Awesome video, keep up the good work, I’m thinking of purchasing one of these heaters.😎
They are surprisingly good little heater .
With that coil around the exhaust to pre-heat the oil, keep in mind that the flash point of motor oil is (usually) over 400F, for diesel it is around 100F, and for gasoline it is -45F. Maybe modify your fuel lines so that only the used motor oil blend goes through the pre-heating coils?
Right!!! Honestly a time bomb... mixing different petroleums with different vapor and autoignition points so dangerous
HEATING GASOLINE is NEVER a good idea😳
Place your coil inside the hot air duct that goes into the room that should bring your temperatures more in line with what you’re looking for❤️🔥🇺🇸
Looks great. Be interesting to see how you get on. Be interested to see your filter setup. Thanks 😀
Ok I am using the filter cart at my work. But I will be building my own which is similar. Basically a pump and a filter head with a removable filter .
love the video :) however ive being watching these diesel heater videos for the past couple of weeks learning all i can before installing one in my home, and from what ive learnt i would go with a 1micron filter as this would stop more crap blocking the Glow Plug Burner Strainer Screen and reduce carbon build up in the burn chamber.im not sure if this would made any differance but my set up will be something like yours with both a black oil tank and a clean diesel tank,on the start up and before turning the heater off i will be using the clean diesel as its easier for the start up and hopfully by using clean diesel for the 30mins/1hr it will burn some of the deposits off before i shut it down
Very nice setup and video. Funny thing is, I ordered my diesel heater from Walmart just about an hour before finding this video, and I had planned almost an identical set-up (two tanks, each with on/off valve, inline filter, etc.)!
Like you, I plan to start the heater on pure diesel, switch to waste oil blend, and then end operation using pure diesel again (to be prepped for the next use).
The filter I ordered has a water separator, which is one of the few differences to your setup.
I had not considered winding the fuel line (using metal tubing) around the exhaust, but preheating the waste oil blend makes sense. I wonder if that is necessary as long as you are blending the waste oil with diesel or gasoline to keep the viscosity reasonable? I'll be watching your future videos to find out!
What can you tell us about the screen you used in your funnel to strain the waste oil mix? I might like to get one.
EDIT: I found the answer in one of the other posts: King Kooker PF10 Disposable Paper Oil Funnel Filters-12 Pack, OS, Multi a.co/d/96IcGeO
Thanks for these videos. I ordered similar heater, and have been thinking if I could use waste oil with it. And with what ratio. In Finland we have quite expensive electricity and also diesel nowadays, so it is interesting topic :)
Thanks for the update. I'm curios about your internal temperatures? My heater runs around 208C on position 6 in normal mode and runs around 195C on position 6 in alpine mode.
Can you show out side muffler burn show what's going on there if its smoking
I seen some guys trying to use Windshield washer fluid (for Methanol) purchased from CanTire around christmas time for $3/ Jug (I think a gallon).
Yes it burns but it won’t lift through the pump. It stays at bottom of the pump . Weird stuff
Look for a VP distributor.. also find your local dirt track racers or drag strip. Methanols cheap
i think you on to something here. pre heating the oil mix will make it burn easier.. what temperature will you get if you burn it on full power and off alpine mode?
i would think that if you get the temperature up the carbon will burn away
How would you insulate the hot output pipe where it goes through an insulated wall slab
You can buy fireproof insulation. Lowes and Home Depot should have that
Where do you get all this waste oil 🛢 from? I have only 2 gallons a year...
Go to your local car service garage and buy it from them.
Have you tried a kerosene/used vegetable oil blend?
No I haven’t yet but possibly in the future
I hope this works out, but 50% WMO is not easy, i was on 30% and had lots of build up inside after 2hrs use, the heater went off by itself at that time. Now im waiting for spares to fix it, in the meantime i hooked up the other one but running it on diesel only. Lets see what you manage to get out of this, the only hope is the pre heating of the mixture.
Been running for 4 hours 🤞🏼😬 . My previous test ended the same way yours did . But I know people burn 80 wmo /20 petrol so darn it I know I can make it work lol. But they both have some sort of preheat going on
@@Storman77 Keep up the good work, in the meantime i will wait for my spares and follow your progress! Great job
@@Storman77 What paper are you using for filtering?
@@triplex0076 King Kooker PF10 Disposable Paper Oil Funnel Filters-12 Pack, OS, Multi a.co/d/96IcGeO
@@triplex0076 I hear commercial size coffee filters work fine, too. After all, it is going through an inline filter as well.
Alpine mode? How did you get that setup? I may not have that function. Thanks.
Hold setting and ok button down till it comes on . If you have same displays
@@Storman77 I heard you can do double alpine mode, too. Is that correct? I haven't received my heater yet. Thanks for the video and testing. I have a bunch of 5-gallon drums of old motor oil and kerosene that i intend to use up, hopefully.
@@englishrupe01 you would need to access the hidden menu for that and yes you could adjust the Dan plus use alpine mode
@@Storman77 Yes, i have just been reading up on how to get to it and use it. Apparently, the access code for all of these is 1688 and to get to it you have to press the menu button three times. You can then set the fuel/air ratio and the min/max rpm's to whatever you wish. It may well be a good way to get rid of the soot problem as it will burn leaner. Not sure if i can add a web link in here or not....generally not.
@@englishrupe01 this new unit doesn’t have that same hidden menu . It’s a 3 digit code still not broken
If i should make such a video, where should i place the title text?
It’s in your editing tool. You can use IMovie it offers text.
Have you tried going into the service menu we have the new controllers supposedly that only have a three digit password the other units have a four digit password and others posted that we can change the pump rate min max
possible code 987 to be able to enter service menu password hold okay and power until flashes three dashes then put in 987 when I do nothing happens but if I hit the okay button it goes back to previous display I tried 000 to 999 and the only one that did anything was 987 so I may have locked myself out and fan RPM so you could set the fan to a higher RPM and change the max pump rate so it doesn't get too hot I'm also meeting somebody to verify that code works or not
Well I will try that and let you know
THat funny noise you are hearing is because of the Gasoline. Maybe you should try 10% gas. Whenever i added gas, i also heard that funny noise.
Ahh ok I will try that
My bet is that the heater will get clogged very quickly. This coil around the exhaust is a risky business ;)
So was yo mammy but yo daddy risked it, all night long
Its for fuel preheating so it ignites easier
Preheating fuel oil is super common. Every boiler burning fuel oil # 4-6 is doing this with similar heat exchangers in the exhaust. The temperature it’s reaching in the coil is not nearly high enough for combustion, just helps atomization. Even if an oil leak developed nothing would happen except it’d smoke. It takes a lot more to actually ignite.
You can’t run waste oil
Will cake up screen and glow plug as well as burn chamber in less than a week
unwrap your exhaust as it is free heat
How are things going?
Lol was just making update video but good watch video be up soon
