What’s the best finish for Tile coasters? Side by side comparison Clear Coat Testing 4 different/new spray clear coats on tile coasters. Some of these were suggested after previous spray coat testing video. Hope this helps! I’ll be testing more finishes in later videos. Comment any others you suggest or would like to see demonstrated in another video. Will also be doing a Resin tile coaster test video at a later time!
If you have another finish for me to test, leave it in the comments and Ill see if I can get it to add to a future video.
I’m still learning and loving it! ❤️ One pour at a time!!!!
Any tips and comments appreciated for this pouring newbie!!!
    Thanks for watching!

I use karmar spray sealer first (3 coats) let dry between each coat. Then VHT same amount of coats. Bake at 250 for 20 - 30 minutes my tiles did not yellow at that temperature.

Thank you so much for testing all these sprays! If you were to compare the Dupli-Color Acrylic Enamel that you used in the last tile test to the Dupli-Color Engine Enamel, which do you think was better? Did you retry the Dupli-Color Acrylic Enamel to test if the bubbles that were visible in the last video disappeared when sprayed at the recommended temperature? Have you also had a chance to retry the Dupli-Color Engine Enamel without curing to see if it caused the yellowing? I've never sprayed coasters before and was wondering if you sprayed the sides of the tile as well? Do you have any tips on spraying the tiles?

I’ve had good success with the Dupli Color one you tried. I sprayed 3-4 coats with 30 minutes in between then set the tile out in 85-90 degree sun to cure for 4 hours. Next morning I did the hot coffee test with no sticking! It was a darker tile so I saw no “yellowing,” there were some white parts on my design that do not appear yellow.

@@abstractanneliese6950Did you test these again as you said you were going to do? I don’t see another video. I have been painting tiles with alcohol inks and I planned on using them as trivets, but I’ve been searching everywhere and cannot find any sealant that is heat proof up to about 400 degrees. I’m going to give resin a try, some are heat-resistant. Any suggestions?

Hi how long let them dry before us spray? I used aft 2 days Spraymax2K and got circle print on coasters, no matter what type of mugs /glasses I used.

I tested the diamond sealer. I sprayed my tile with 5 coats, every half an hour inside so the temperature was about 70 degrees with little humidity. I let it cure for 3 days. I tested with a 12 oz mug of water heated to 180 degrees. Let the mug sit on the tile for 10 minutes. It stuck and left a ring. Not sure what I did wrong. Would you please give me some advise? Thank you.

Sorry for the delay.. not sure what happened, Gerry! I did not test the temperatures of my mugs in the video, may have to do that to get good consistency for testing. I will be testing Resin next, hope it helps you find what works for you!

how do you heat treat the coasters after you use VHT enamel engine spray? do you have to use a oven? or can you just spray them? ur use something else?

Krylon triple thick glaze also puts polyacrylic to shame in coverage & gloss.

When doing these tests you can not compare varnishes if you don’t follow the directions on the label. The ones you heat treated that did not call for heat treatment probably broke down. Depending on the chemicals used in the product, it could have been dangerous for you as well! You should redo this “experiment” following the directions of the product to the letter.
