- I bought another console from GameStop... this time I got a refurbished White Xbox 360 S. It would be a pretty good looking console, but it came from GameStop... and this console has some issues.

So apparently this one is supposed to be matte because it's 4GB. The same 320GB console is supposed to be glossy. Doesn't take away from the fact the GameStop still took sandpaper or something to it lol. It has tons of scratches

That particular model came in a Skylander bundle. I have one, and I slapped a 250gb hdd from another model I had. It's in my entertainment center, but I haven't touched it recently.

Hey Jacob! The controller it came with was a later model with those weird thumb sticks and a funky d-pad. If you twist the d-pad it will raise up the plus on the d-pad so it’s easier to press.
Also, the controller name is "chrome blue". They made other ones, like gold, silver purple etc.
I love how they call it premium refurbished when it's just sand down and tossed with whatever in a box
That's literally what you usually get with refurbished products in general though. Some Gamestops also slap a big sticker over the case to make it look new and you can peel it off to reveal the original case.

When I got my 360 S refurbished from Gamestop in 2013, it was practically in perfect condition, and it still runs with no problems to this day! (needs to be cleaned out though for sure). What the hell is gamestop doing to these consoles nowadays?

I have learned my lesson from buying used consoles from Gamestop. I bought a PS3 slim and the disc drive didnt eject discs properly.

Well, a month ago we got a 360 S for the equivalent of 142 USD. Came with one controller, 500 GB hard drive, jtagged with 43 games on the drive and an hdmi cable. Pretty good deal imo

I still have my 360 Slim but I’ve gone through 6 power supplies, I bought one off Amazon a week ago cause I wanted to bring it back to life and the power supply crapped out after 3 days of using it.

i am still on my 1st PSU i dont use it much and havent since around 2017 however it has this issue, all u have to do on mine is plug it in and leave it for 30 minutes, then when turning it on it'll be perfectly fine

Those thumb-sticks aren’t aftermarket, they’re the ones that come with limited edition controllers.
Yeah, that's one of the later controllers with the twistable D-Pad. Those are the proper sticks for it. He actually got a nice controller with it.
Imagine the next Xbox going back to this design but instead of a disc- tray they have a disc loading slot , usb super speed ports, and the SSD panel at the top that can be removed to add more storage , also a USC C port on the front... omg that would be soooo 🔥 ....Don’t get me wrong though, the Xbox series X is a nice looking console still
The new consoles look nice but once I saw the Xbox’s in person they looked a bit big/chunky, not as sleek compared to Xbox One but considering their more powerful its understandable

A matted finnish is preferred over a glossy finish anyway. Matted just makes consoles feel and seem more nice and expensive for some reason

8 had the same problem like you with the power supply. I read that the power supply or the console was not used in a while so the power supply turns red when you try to power it on.
It’s cool to see the white version, I got the black/chrome one from a local store recently to play the guitar hero games

It looks to me that someone opened the box and replaced the faulty power supply they had with with one in the box. Maybe the same was done with the controller as well? This was probably done before packing in the shipping box.

the red light on the power supply is just it tripping but if you unplug it for a little bit and try the old plug again it should work

I still have my 4GB 360 slim I bought in 2011. I put a hard drive in it though. Still works perfectly to this day.
I am very unlucky that my original Xbox 360 had a hardware failure and Gamestop refused to fix it so there was nothing to really do with it except throw it out. The other Xbox 360 I got had no hard drive plug.
Xbox 360 S is probably one of the most good looking consoles ever.

Yeah I bought a "premium refurbished" Xbox 360 slim console from them too. It turned on fine but when I put a disc in, it wouldn't read any discs at all. Fortunately for me tho, I had my recently dead xbox 360 slim laying around so I had to salvage my old disc drive from that, take out the drive from the newly purchased xbox, used my soldering iron to switch the circut boards on both drives, then reassemble the new xbox and now it works perfectly. Kinda sad that the customer has to refurbish their own products.

If you have the right tools, you can actually fix the issue by simply replacing the console's laser (which is the thing inside the disc tray that reads the discs)

Hey back when they used to sell “refurbished” psp’s they used to put stickers of the same color over the scratches!! I still have a 3000 that I bought back in 2013 and the battery cover had a black sticker to cover the scratches!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My 360 was matte white with gloss white around the power button and other areas. I think it's original. Gamestop probly used some cleaner to remove scuff marks or stickers/wraps. It was probly never gloss finish

they actually made a matte and glossy version of the 360 S. the tray, and power button border are usually still glossy on the matte versions. I'm pretty sure GameStop was just selling you an excuse for a matte 360 S!
I bought a GameStop console and it didn’t come with a refurbished sticker, warranty stickers were all intact from the factory and I came lucky with one running the NXE dashboard back in ‘15.
Mine was the Halo edition & came with the original controller that was brand new and it was prone to RROD’s. 🥲
I remember when I bought a refurbished PS3 from GameStop. The console works fine and so did the matching controller, but what got me was there was a game in the disk drive, and a copy of Pokemon Platinum in the bottom of the box! And it wasn't supposed to come with any games! XD

The controller is not aftermarket, it’an official Xbox 360 controller called “Xbox 360 controller transforming d-pad” the special thing about this controller is obviously the d-pad, if you twist it around, it will change the height of the d-pad, making it more higher or lowered

The only time i ever bought used or “refurbished consoles from game stop was due to the fact they were limited editions. The two i did purchase were the Halo 3 xbox360 and the halo 4 xbox360. Once i got them i did my own refurbishing because upon opening them up… it was laughable how bad they were actually taken care of. But 6-7 years later they still work and look like new
imagine a used car place removing all the paint off cars because of some minor scratches...

My first console was a matte black 360 I got it back in 2013. I never got to play all the cool halos and old cods back in the 2000s cuz I was born in 2001 and I had a DS and my parents wouldn’t let me play “violent” games. I missed the golden days of gaming. 😞

I've been wanting so badly to grab a 360 again, I still have some old games that I could go in and play. NCAA mostly is the game I miss the most, so that is the ironic part of everything.

Those aren't aftermarket 360 controllers, they were one of those 360 controllers with a rotational dpad.

The gamepad is just the Chrome controller, I bet the sticks are just very worn out. The D-pad on it is awesome apparently, so you can just repair it by replacing the sticks inside it - it should serve you well. Chrome controllers are nice. Those Chrome controllers warrant some hefty profit on the used market
if you don't like the messed up case you can easily replace it, most of this model is torx screws and plastic clips
The controller would look great with the C-3P0 controller for the R2-D2 Xbox 360. Just Saiyan.
This for sure wasnt glossy I had the black version when it came out and it was matte out of the xbox box 🤷♂️🤦♂️

My family went through 6 Xboxes during the decade it was being made. Many of them were GameStop referbs that would last *MAYBE* a month.
I have that controller. It’s blue to me and the thumb sticks are that way for me aswell. It came that way.

Buying an Xbox 360 from gamsestop was always a bad choice back then too. They don't even check to see if it seriously works. It's turned on, they put in a disc, and send you on your way to a crappy store credit scam. Lol

Also I believe those joysticks are official I had a gold one with those thumb sticks and an MW3 controller with them too they normall come with the 360 controllers that has the different D pad like your one

I bought an Xbox 360 as well from Gamestop 10 years ago used, I think it's the one with the motherboard that is known for having the red ring of death not too sure, Anyways, I still have it now and works great.

on my 2011 4gb slim model the power brick does that, its just old and needs to be plugged into power for >30 minutes otherwise it goes red, after that its completely fine

GameStop always has a habit of giving people bad power bricks. Same thing happened with my Xbox One, so I had to wait a whole month for my new one to come in.

the thumbsticks are not off-brand on those controllers that have a transforming d-pad they have different thumbsticks and in 4GB consoles they were not glossy
