- A combatant in Ukraine shared recently photographs of himself with a French FR F2 sniper rifle. The 7.62x51mm rifles have only been sighted in theatre once before in March 2022. There has also recently been a sighting of a single FAMAS. While individual sightings aren't indicative if a substantial number have been transferred by France then further examples will likely be seen in the future.

Perhaps Ian is involved in this...
Nah, he'd never give away a French small arm that he could keep for himself
@@josedorsaith5261true
Most definitely a joint effort by Ian and Uncle Henry.
I spoke to him about it actually.
The big question is what will be his side arm...
That sight is a serious piece of kit aswell.
Man, cold war design is just a wonderful transition period of firearms development.
and planes and tanks and uniforms 😍😍
still got that classy wood with it
I am surprised these did not show up more. I knew more and more of them were being surplused so I expected them to start showing up there. I have fired one before. I am no trained sniper, but the rifle seemed very accurate in my limited experience. I could not really tell much difference performance wise to more modern set-ups. Maybe if I ran one for a while the quarks of its age will be more evident...but I am to poor to own one myself these days, ha.
In case you ever wonder, these videos are very much appreciated, and in fact enjoyed, by at least me
Thank you and for the effort you put into these videos
Think about that for a sec, the FR-F platform started with the MAS 36 in the damn thirties and is just now being replaced with the latest-gen SCAR PR. That’s a helluva long time in service.
The Finnish military is still using highly modified Mosin-Nagants known as the Tkiv 85 in limited numbers. Some of these rifles use antique receivers from god knows how long ago.
The US military forced the development and use of the M14/M14-derived rifles for how long? And the M14 is basically a glorified Garand, which dates back to 20s-30s-ish(Garand developed it over like a decade or something like that). I mean, it's a LITTLE bit different since no one really wanted the M14 and it was forced in contrast to the FR-F actually being a good gun... but still, lol
Buddy shooting the final scenes had a hook and was still able to do his drills
Amazing obscure weapons video!!!
Ian McCollum: *Pops up out of nowhere* BONJOUR!
It's interesting that France have replaced this with a sharp-shooter's or sniper-support rifle rather than a dedicated sniper rifle like the AI. 2:35
The F1 and F2 were used as DMR and had to cover ranges between 200-300 to 800m. From this perspective, it makes sense to replace them by SASS. The Scar H vwrsion used by the French is a 20" barrel precision version. Snipers use other weapons, such as PGM. The FRF are bolt action dragunov.
@@winstonwolfe5733 No they weren't. You are trying to mansplain sniping. The FR being used out to 800 is a byproduct of the effective range of that cartridge. Not how the rifle was employed. The French had plenty of scoped self loaders to employ as a DMR already.
Ian from Forgotten Weapons will have a tissue out seeing this.
It'll be interesting to see how the presence of holy weapons affects the battlefield in Ukraine!

drones, missiles, guided bombs and artillery win everything small arms are borderline unimportant

@@novinovic298 It was a reference to the guntuber Ian Mccollum. He has made several videos about the FR-F2 and is referred to as "Gun Jesus"

@@randomwarehouse4702 Apologies ; thought it was a reference to the Orthodox church , on both sides of the conflict , having their weapons and vehicles sprinkled with "holy" water. Well aware of Ian and his videos, but missed the connection. Have a nice day.
A weapon is only good as the shooter. The weapon is the man who uses it.
Not all weapons are equal.
Interesting
If they happen to use MR73 sniper version, we'll know where this comes from.
*F2 have a video*
*MSBS Grot does not*
Me: confused AF
Id love to get hands on one of these just one time man. They are so ugly but so interesting at the se time.
Sr please a video of the Vz 24/25/26 the smg of CZ, they have a lot in theorie please made a video of this SMG if Ukraine forces have this guns!!!!!, thank you and i 😍 your canala
A lot in theorie? Why? One or two picture first days of ar wich was probably civilians weapons.
This is it. Similarly with the WWII stuff it's present but it seems to be largely for civilian collections or a rare sighting of something from storage.
@@TheArmourersBench Ukraine had full storages of ww2 weapons, not vz24/25/26 wich never made it to SSSR.
@@TheArmourersBench ok but if you se pictures make and video of the smf from cz
Uh.., That warrior was missing a hand...
famas i garbage, but FRF2 is very good weapons!!
100% agree on both statements, FR is not only not bad but quite good. FAMAS is junk though like you said.
You are a garbage like the L85 rifle 😂
Gun Jesus be like: Finally, some cool guns
this is really a silly video as it's listed on Wikipedia the countries that bought this weapon - go there first before you make silly discoveries of something published in the past they also have the 50 cal pro French sniper rifle
Jog on fella.
