Ya, they’re not the mafia but that doesn’t mean they’re not dangerous and won’t hurt and/or kill people to protect their business, through which they’re making thousands and even millions. In India the government and police force is corrupt. They are easily paid off if you have the money to do so. So no, the police will not protect these people if the owners of these businesses simply pay them off and many of them will easily hurt and kill people who threaten to or DO expose or harm their precious business. You don’t think it takes people with a complete lack of morals or conscience to do what these people do? The ones who own and run the companies I mean. They’re evil evil people and most would do whatever it takes to keep the money coming.

The exit was locked and if they tried to leave or not show up for work, the owner would go to their homes and beat them. It's terrible :'(

Imagine hanging-up on a scammer who is the only person you've talked to in the past week, and you feel so rude that it hurts. These senior citizens have good manners from a time when people trusted each other, and many are living without any human contact. Society is sick, because community is dead, people are pushed apart, and there's little common ground to meet new people.
