Yes please to the video about why you are no longer a lawyer! 🙂
Seconded.
This will be one of my next videos, will publish it in February. 🙌🏻
Another note on souvenirs. Not only do they pale in comparison to the experiences. Sometimes they take from the vacation as you may take a day of the trip to shop around for them for your friends and family back home; for whom the item is almost meaningless. They didn't take the trip and don't really care that you did. You could have spent that day seeing one more thing or having one more experience. Great channel I will subscribe.
Well said!
That watercolor painting made by your dad is beautiful. 🖼
I think so too!
Great video. I can relate to you. Minimalism brings a lot of ease to our mind. =)
Another great video. I lately follow appreciate things without owning! It not only saves money, but changed my perspective! Thanks for sharing your ideas.
You're welcome, glad you liked it!
so funny how i can relate to everything you mention. i just got a ps4 pro this month cuz all of a sudden i felt the urge to play video games again because i really need to get into the part ii of the last of us. cuz the movie version kept me hooked and i cant stop thinking about it.
Loved The Last of Us, too! Never played the game but the TV series was awesome. ✨
I’ve been on a minimalist journey since the mid-90s. Liked your idea about not buying things on sale without intention. Haven’t heard of that.
I'm glad you got value out of the vid! 😊
Great video! Watching it, I noticed that I am half way though a minimalist lifestyle as well, but my problem is my work space. I work at home and my office feels so cluttered. I have a lot of materials I use constantly, and others I don't use as much, but I don't know how to organize it or even have the desire to throw it away
If you have any tips on how to organize a minimalist office, I would really appreciate it
I personally keep my desk very minimal. A clean desk has a positive mental effect on me. Out of sight = out of mind. Everything I need is on my computer, though. I don't need paper documents, paper books, or other materials at my desk. For more info, see "My Minimalist Apartment Tour" for how I set things up (czcams.com/video/oKmns-mVojU/video.html).
Your work situation might be different, you mentioned having to use a lot of materials constantly. I would start with going for a quick win by adding storage, like a filing cabinet, and putting anything you don't need immediately in there. Just to create a cleaner, more organized workspace (at least visually). The next step could be to go through those filing cabinets, say after a week, and ask: do I really need to keep what's in here? Did I use it at all this week? Can I perhaps discard of some of it, or archive it elsewhere if I need to keep it as a record?
Hope this helps! 😉
3:47 - You looked great here, Peter 🔥
Thanks!
This is such a great reminder! Very well put Peter
Thanks Snehal!
What a great video. You make some excellent points. Thank you for sharing! 😎
My pleasure, Penny!
Great list. I'm pretty much the same. I have some reference books in physical form, that I return to again and again, though. I like to annotate them and I think I absorb the message more this way. For novels, ereader.
Thanks for sharing Alec!
Enjoyed as always - Thanks
Happy to hear it, Scott! ✨
Hitting the point agin! Really smart done when you slice the unnecessary stuff of your vid!👍
Thanks! ✨
Hi! New subscriber here … am beginning my minimalist journey…. So glad to find your channel ! I really enjoyed this video…. Thank you
Hi Susan, that's exciting, starting your minimalist journey. Glad to hear the video was helpful! Good luck with learning about minimalism 🙌🏻
@@IAmPeterCook thank you, Peter
Happy 2023, Peter! I'm brazilian and enjoyed that your favorite Tekken's character was a Capoeira fighter 😄
Eddy Gordo is the best! 😀
Happy New Year Peter, and thanks as always for another great how-to video on minimalism, I've put some of your tips into practice. I wanted to ask you where you got or Totoro, that you have in the living room. I love it and i cant find that same model. Thank you very much, and greetings from Barcelona.🙂
I got it on Amazon years ago, Beatriz! Not sure if they still sell it. 🤷🏻♂️
great list! i'm very much like you in most places, except for the book part. i prefer paperbooks than the digital one cause i like the sensation of turning the pages and love the smell. it's just that, the use of a place to store books is indeed a problem in itself haha. thanks for the great insight peter. happy 2023, looking forward for your videos this year!
Thank you, I wish you the same! ✨
Thank You for sharing this information. done watching
Glad you liked the video, Editha! 😀
Good job Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching, Alexandra! 😀
I like watching your videos Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Glad you enjoyed the video, Alexandrea! 😊
Kindle E reader was one of the best investments I made! Sometimes when I’m out I’ll take a picture of a book in a book store so I can buy it from my kindle later😂
I do the same 😉
Just discovered you. Enjoying your video’s immensely 🎉
Thanks Robert! ✨
Happy 2023!
Same to you!
@@IAmPeterCook Thank you! Your content is inspiring & I hope you make more! Watching from Chicago, USA.
Great video 👍🏽
Thank you! 👍
It would be really nice if you made a video showing how you write your book summaries!
Great suggestion, Thayná! I will add it to my list of videos ideas. 🎥
Being very creative, it is quite impossible for me tu be minimalist, I embrace maximalism
Thanks! I can relate 😀 👟
I have a Kobo reader too and depending on where you live you may be able to borrow e-books from your library (a service called OverDrive is available here in California and I know it’s used in the UK too, so likely other countries).
I was worried I don’t seem to remember what happens in books, especially in series of novels (they all blur into one!) but now you mention it, OF COURSE why not make notes?! I’ve started making notes right now about the book I’m reading. Thanks 👍🏼
The app also could be called Libby depending on where you are in the US. 👍
Good luck with taking book notes, Peter! 📖
Thanks for the great insight Peter. Just one question: if you don't cook at home, do you eat out all the time?
Hi Ana, I do cook at home most of the time. In the video, I talked about how, when I lived in Thailand, eating out was more affordable, practical and tastier than cooking at home. But that's many years ago, now I mostly cook and eat at home. 🍽
Keep it up :)
Will do 🙌🏻
Do you have your book list published somewhere? Thanks.
Not yet. But I do intend to launch a website at some point, which will include my book notes.
I use my tablet as an ereader, but a eink display actually seems nice for good battery life. Do you feel like ereaders are less distracting? Im considering moving to a dumbphone instead of a smart phone too.
Personally, I like eReaders for the lack of blue light and the single purpose.
What is a dumb phone? 😊
@@Jane-op6qy like an old fliphone
Years ago I had an iPad2. I used it for reading books, among other things. But I prefer reading on an eReader. For multiple reasons:
1. An eReader is a single-purpose device. All you can do on it is read. Context-switching isn't possible. On a tablet (same goes for any computer or smartphone), it's easy to switch to a browser or app on an impulse.
2. Tablets tend to have a glass screen with glare, it reflects the light. An eReader doesn't. So I find it easier to read for longer periods of time on an eReader.
really informative; thoughi ammore of amaximalist now (1700+ LP's)
That's an impressive collection, hope you got some real LP gems in there! 🎶
From another lawyer, curious as to why you quit your job, since you mentioned it.
Hi Ben, there are multiple reasons. I will make a separate video about it (which I'm already working on). I intend to publish it next month.
Peter are you Dutch?
Yes 😉
Please make that video why you are no longer a lawyer
Working on it now!
Can I have the xbox 😂
Haha 🤪
