since joey didn’t bother to read the first game’s readme, he had it spot on. it was quite literally made by a 13 year old.
lol
I mean yea the spelling and quality o the writing sorta makes sense
I hope ppl weren't too mean to jim
There's no way Joel didn't make that Smashed text adventure game himself.
Exactly what I had in mind aswell.
2:15:00 Joel discovers the awesome power of running two sound cards at the same time.
Holy shit. That installer MIDI was a jam.
Funny how at least one member of chat knows about these random things joel stumbles onto
Answer to Joel's question:
The music video is for the song "Something About You", by R&B group Premiere, a trio of pinay women from the west coast, off of their almost-self-titled-but-missing-a-letter album Premier (1996).
As far as I know, that's their only single, but they also had a song featured in a Samuel L Jackson movie.
Apparently they tried to rebrand as "Honey Luv" in the early 2000s, but besides some discogs entries, they seem to have no footprint in music platforms. Unsurprising, as their sound is basically entry-level post-Diddy radio-friendly R&B. If you didn't go viral - or get the payola - it was very hard to take off in that extremely competitive lane.
Thanks for providing information on the song!
I really wanted to listen to it, but I couldn't figure out which girl group this was. If it's something obscure it makes sense, being able to listen to it now due to having the title and artist is much appreciated.
Thanks for the info ^.^
OH MY GOD. I remember a Honey Luv commercial from like 2004. Maybe 2005 or 2006.
If Joel does plan to do a 3D Movie Maker movie again, could someone tell him there's a modern Windows port with some basic enhancements out there right now?
shhhhhhh it's better this way
Link for the modern port, i'm interested :O ?
@@moxxiethegamer hey! I don't know why, but me even mentioning the project gets my comment removed. So sorry, looks like I can't tell. CZcams is really frigging weird with its comment moderation sometimes.
I think Joel might already know about that.
I believe he mentioned it a few... VODs? Videos? back. Well, it's in this channel somewhere.
Don't take my word for it but iirc his response can somewhat summed up to "but why tho?"
joel never misses a chance to crap on korn when it comes up as a topic

Go to 44:48 for those who desire a fecal funny text based adventure game.
Well:)
waiting for the day Joel would legally change his name to Joey.
Jobloey
i think it speaks volumes that the creator of Smashed was 13 at the time
Deadly Rooms of Death still exists today. It has a large library of games just like the original Webfoot version which is now free and run by Caravel Games. The free version is greatly enhanced compared to the first one.
Also, something fucked up on the version Joel played here...
BillBull played the original all the way through if you're interested- www.twitch.tv/collections/aVDWQDM8FBY7hA
I remember playing this on one of those 100 Great Arcade Games type discs, of which I had at least 3. I miss those, even if most of the games were just cheap knockoffs of existing titles for Amiga, Atari, etc.
@@viscountrainbows6452 I had a few as well. Most were lousy but you could find some really good obscure games like Critical Mass or DROD here.
1:35:36 is it bad that I recognized the song only because of the cursed snare?
Holy cow, Joel playing Deadly Rooms of Death? Never thought I'd see the day.
I always felt like I was the only person on the planet who played that game and was disappointed when I looked up full walkthroughs. The only one I ever found was pretty low quality.
It’s a shame the tileset was so fucked, it was a decent game.
@@MIchaelArlowe the later installments have become my favorite games of all time, tbh. Too bad there is some really weird shit going on, perhaps he could have liked it otherwise :(
I'm a fan of the webfoot DROD music but his tileset do be a bit... bugged
I almost thought Joel was about to say "Related to Goatse" at 10:57 and I was very concerned
that "Totally Smashed" game was written by Zane wasn't it
Jesus Christ "Virus the Game" looks like fucking Cruelty Squad lmao
1:02:33 HOLY SHIT IT'S THE SONG THEY USED IN THAT ONE DWANGO MAP
The people who made Risky Woods made an absolute banger of an arcade game called Biomechanical Toy. If you thought that was neat, you should totally play it. It's like Contra on meth.
Just started playing Deadly Rooms of Death because of this stream. Thanks for the (unintentional) suggestion Jobel.
I really want Joel to make Morbius II: It's Morbin' Time in 3D movie maker.
wares shared!!
28:42
That sound effect is making the phrase "laser printer" come off a little different.
*sound card unlocked*
crunchwrap installed lol
Good to be back in some classic series
More Shareware Madness? Yes, please!
A lot of the Windows games he plays seem to have weird graphical glitches... He might want to change what graphics card is emulated in PCEm.
Secret of monkey island music makes me cry from how cool it is and i have never played it
More Shareware Madness THANK FUCKING GOD I love this stuff, random collections of old software, console or PC, just rulezzzz realy
Holy balls I want that MIDI
If it's out there somewhere I need it
agreed its too fucking good and i need to listen to it
No joke, I'm gonna wake up in the middle of the night with that song in my head.
Actually, check on the Internet Archive for "Hot Shareware 1" by Hobby Press
Should be able to find the file somewhere in the ISO.
I mean, I'm absolutely going to do it myself, but it'll take me all day. With my internet connection, I more or less still live in 1995.
@@PSUQDPICHQIEIWC Thank you for the tip, I got it now. The name of the song is hotshare dot mid. It's a really good song but I must say the soundfont from Joel's stream makes it sound better with the chunkier bass.
I literally clicked on this after only watching part and I come back to just hear Joel say "slap it around"
Man, I saw DROD in the thumbnail and got excited and Joel got a "corruptions" version of the game.
Babe wake up, new shareware madness just dropped
How did you get in my house? We've been thru this already. It's gotta stop.
I'm a simple man. I see DROD in the thumbnail, I click.
Ayyy! 132nd Skywatcher represent.
Aw man, too bad the graphics were glitched for him.
Morbist 8 : the revenge
One thing I learned from this is that indie developers started microtransactions before the internet.
Let's gooo Joey!
A little surprised to see so many people getting into that jazz midi. It really is a bop fr
Also 1:31:42 holy shit I remember quenzar's caverns. Managed to beat it 20 years ago with like 1hp
I hate that his "Xbox off" joke made me laugh as hard as it did
the shareware cute
Don't have a soundcard? Just install one!
awesome
Holy shit I played Deadly rooms of death as a kid :O
1:34:15 rhythm heaven moyai moment
the midi at 1:02:33 totally slaps
DAMN, I'd love to see Joel playing more DROD
I wonder what was wrong with that version of Deadly Rooms of Death? Most be that ancient "webfoot version" I've heard about.
The final "old version" which is totally free is "Architect's Edition", but it's had some modern versions to buy.
On Steam, you can get "Gunthro and the Epic Blunder" and all of the older levels are DLC for it, strangely.
A fun puzzle game series, but if Joel actually streamed it, he'd be SWARMED with backseat gamers in chat! "NO! Point your sword northwest then step northeast! Then rotate counterclockwise, then step southeast! It's so easy, STOP DOING IT WRONG!"
Looks like it is the Webfoot Version, judging by the portrait.
DROD is wonderful indeed, it's come a long way since that original version
I've actually done a couple bits of architecture for the series myself!
You poop out Gold!?!
i would love to see a 3D Movie Maker contest, he did not said in this stream but in the previous ones.
You know that guy who made that space mac-venture-like made another game recently. It's good.
Digital munchies 😂
thirty minute tortilla tangent
Oh man I think I had that Virus game! The background looks really familiar
Can we get a Robbaz style "cooking with the kock" for that crunch wrap?
the name on the morbius 2 script is Bartholomew Cubbins which is a character from
a DR Seuss book
good alot :)
54:40
Joey calling someone else's humor juvenile? Oy yoy yoy.
Is your entire purpose on this channel hating on Joel
@@notamobilesprout4175 Bruh, am I wrong? I don't hate Joel, but I don't mind calling him out on his nonsense. Just today he did a stream where he derailed his entire stream to start Gmod to try and prove Chat wrong on something that anyone who took high school physics would know is right.
u are wrong "bruh"@@EccentricWolven23
Tbh i like VLC and MPC equally.
I still use Paint Shop Pro to this very day man
1:38:10
Joel: A mimir
Are these actual physical shareware discs or downloads? Anyone know where to find them if they’re downloads
I actually played Charly the Clown and Risky Woods many decades ago. Shareware was really abundant in the 90s so it was fun to discover new games. Some of them were surprisingly good. Apogee and Epic especially made some really solid games.
is there a way to find that song midi that is played around the one hour mark??
Joel's spanish pronunciation is very good, I'm quite surprised
The spanish stream is paying off. lol
There is a chance that he chose Spanish in elementary school in Sweden. In my school, I had an option between German, Spanish and French.
i was in there
58:51 I told that to my fiance and she laughed. Virginity secured booooiiiss
Joel, I found a very special Music shareware CD that I think you’d like, I sent it to your mods.
50:549 Joel pronounces 'severe' as 'sevear'.
Totally Smashed looks an awful lot like the kind of "door games" you would find in the pre-internet BBS systems, like Legend of the Red Dragon, only even more incoherent. *sort of* a precursor to MMORPGs?
bruh i literally know that dos music comp he was listening to
where can i get this midi? it bops
Check on the Internet Archive for "Hot Shareware 1" by Hobby Press
The hotshare.mid file is buried in the ISO somewhere.
yo, is the custom vargskelethor windows 98 iso publicly available?
I seriously like Korn and 2 limp bizkit albums
Hot Shareware, Risky Woods...Man, the nostalgia!
Joel, are you gonna come down to Spain next?
Deadly premonition 2 a blessing in disguise got released in Steam today boys let's gooo!!!
HOLY crap thanks for throwing that in the comments, I had no idea!!!
@@DaVince21 Np i'm as surprised as you 😃
The Switch game?
@@kinnikuboneman Yeah it got a pc port. It's a bare bones port and you need a controller to play but hey i'm excited for mods to improve on it maybe? 😅 (Also i don't own a Switch)
@@eloso2225 hmmmmm, isn't the first games PC port barebones too?
I would the holy shit vinesauce Windows port
Can't wait till morbius 3: Morbed
It'll be a prequel, with a helmet-haired child version of Michael Morbius delivering such epic lines as "I'll try morbing. That's a good trick!"
... either that or a musical.
DROD is legitimately a really really great game but there was definitely something wrong with the version you played. It's on steam now, along with all the sequels, expansions, and the spinoff it got. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes puzzle games.
The floor is bug
oh my god there was a new one?
58:47 this cracked me up ngl
53:41 ?
yoooo
Joel still doesn't know about Persona, let alone ever played any of the games on his stream! The sheep345 zip description has no relation to Persona. At all.
41:01
Joel finally plays a real Shin Megami Tensei game
1:56:03 Chad Prima strategy guide salesman. BUY MY BOOK FUNNI SWEDISH MAN
1:12:01 When try to emulate Mobius ds on your windows 95:
Anyone know what's the song playing in the background of that disgraceful burrito thing commercial? There's a song in the guacamelee OST that sounds like it, and now I'm wondering if it's some sort of traditional Mexican song I've never heard or something
12:11 :(
I would watch Morbius 2 directed by Joble.
Hot Shareware Disc: Sexy single SILFs in your area.
Hot Single Shareware Discs in YOUR area want installed on YOUR PC Right Now!!!11!1
2:09:14 Let it be known Joel was right about the RE4 remake and that's exactly why I wasn't that much of a fan (it wasn't bad, I just prefer the OG)
Actually Totally Smashed was a game made by an American, Ryan Gravlin (which his name is posted freaking everywhere). It was published during the summer of 1995 just before the end of his school year and some arguments with a friend or something. He was 13 at the time. Whoever says this was made by a 40 year old that worked at a tech company is talking out their ass.
He hasn't made anything since that I could find. I don't even know if a registered version even exists.
me when

Morbius 2: its morbin time is gonna be one of the sequels of all time I would love to (not) see it.

Day xx of requesting Joel to play Lisa the painful.
37:00 Joel completely oblivious towards the Swastikas...
Yeah i hate how edgy shit like this can get. In his place, the best thing you can do is ignore it and close the window
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika
stop being so close minded, bottom of the introduction, and also second paragraph of the introduction
@@somebodystopme4881 whats this called? Copium? Im not reading your shit
One tiny, contextless swastika was on the screen for five seconds, it was hardly worth pointing out.
@@alfo2804 so why are you trying to defend it? Are you racist? Pretty sus if you dont instinctually spit at a nazi symbol.
I wish the "Cool" music from my era was nu metal, cause it was better than the rap and club music that they blasted every lunch break on the radio in our classroom (which was unfortunately situated right behind me). Was always the same like 2-3 songs, and one I remember was a song about some man on a phone? I remember I was barely into music at that time and despite not knowing good music from bad, but boy did I hate that stuff
Rap and a man on the phone? Perhaps Suicidal Thoughts by Biggie
Ok
Now I feel bad for genuinely adoring Linkin Park's music.. thanks Joel.. :(
@Grey Addison Oh god I love Evanescence too..
He's not bothered if other people like it, he just doesn't like it himself, and only really because it was forced on him as a child.
If he was talking face-to-face, he wouldn't be nearly as hyperbolic with his opinions.
A lot of yelling but no song or music agents people screaming that's how it is music sucks
