The antics of glam metal bands while on tour and the things that went down on Skid Row in Los Angeles did not help the image of rock, punk, and metal music. Those outspoken minor denominations held onto that idea that the amorphous, poorly defined blob they called "rock music" was evil well into the late 1990s, when pop starlets like Britney Spears became the new target. I know way too much about the intersection of music and American politics in the twentieth century...
I never bought into any of that nonsense but for what it's worth I do get annoyed by people with really fuckin bassy subwoofers blasting their music at full volume

I'm a zoomer and I believe this series is still very popular, so most people end up discovering about the original games because of the newer games. I don't expect people to know once-popular series like commander keen tho

It's particularly prevalent in gaming, older smt and persona games are notorious for being almost completely unavailable in modern system and thus often undiscussed.

In internet, people kinda look down on you if you say you are fan of something and can't describe the whole history and details of it.
