  • MIDI Guitar 2 is a very interesting software to turn your guitar into a Polyphonic Midi controller without more hardware than your guitar cable.
    Excellent work from Ole Kirstensen from Jam Origin. At last guitar players have a great tool without external elements to work with accuracy.
    Gear:
    -MIDI Guitar 2 by Jam Origin.
    -Yamaha Revstar RSP820CR.
    -Spectraflex Fatsoflex cable -Only one :D ! -
    -RightOn! Straps.
    -RME Fireface 802 interface.

    hi , can you record midi instead of audio event in cubase? thanks

  • @GTFlamenco

    hello, how can I avoid latency?
    I am very interested in using Midi Guitar 2.
    I am trying to record in Adobe Audition, with a Silent Yamaha Guitar nylon strings, through a Zoom UAC-3 interface.
    I have minimized the audio hardware preferences, but still latency, it is very difficult for me not only to play alone, but also to record when listening to other tracks.
    Is it necessary to use an electric guitar ?, steel strings ?, or another DAW ?, or another interface?
    Thank you in advance for any response and sorry if my English is not good.

    This is the best midi device out there, not just for the money but out there period. No need for the ridiculous extra midi pick ups like Roland and Triple Play. Now with that I have to say Roland just recently dropped the ball in a major way. They had the opportunity to upgrade their next generation in the new SY-1000 to a newer synth engine that are used in their current synth lines. But decided instead to go back to the old and cheap FM sounds with some modulations and reverbs to give it "pizazz". What a disappointment and foolish move. To boot, they have the nerve to ask 1 thousand dollars for this unit. Its going to be a marketing disaster and all their hype can't fix things now. I am really looking forward to future updates on the Jam Origin. Its coming along quite well. Thanks for the video.

    • @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco
      @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco  Před 7 lety

      Hi Juane, thanks for watching!
      Really, think that conversion of the voltage into a digital signalis the base of all of this. Depending of the kind of sound you choose for converting the digital sound into a "real" sound, it will be more or less flexible. So, with some sounds you can do bends (in fact you can choose some detail about bends in this software).
      About palm mute, think that as I said before, palm mute is a technique that give some color to the final sound, but if we are always talking in voltage terms (guitar to amp or pluged into any other kind of speaker keeping all the time the analog signal without conversion). When you use palm muting, voltage is different but it may be not catched by transducer, so midi signal could be like "yes, I got the note" or "I am not recieveing note".
      Until this moment this is the best software for guitar players I ever tryed.
      Hope it helps.
      Regards. Abel

      Hi Enrico. Thanks for your comments.
      Routing is: guitar to interface through cable... nothing more. MIDI Guitar 2 is installed in Logic Pro X (and as standalone too). So we don't need more than just a cable and a interface.

  • @carlosclaptrix

    Exciting! One question: does the Midi Guitar software include some synth sound or does it just create midi commands?

  • @MojaKann
    @MojaKann Před 6 lety

    soooo... does it draw midi notes the way a midi keyboard would? Or is it just a synth that you can control with your guitar?

    • @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco
      @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco  Před 6 lety +2

      if you see the screen on top to the right there are 3 tracks: one midi recorded from the guitar, one recorded in real time as synth and last one like a bounce from the midi track. So yes, it draws modo notes like a keyboard BUT have in mind a guitar send much more impulses like little noises from pick, gliss, etc, that are transformed into midi signals. You must handle with care and get the software in your pocket practising. Thanks for comment.

    • @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco
      @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco  Před 7 lety +3

      Hi Shantanu. Well... As I said below to another visitor, we must think in voltage terms. When you use
      ghost notes, voltage is different from a standard note, and it may be not tracked by
      transducer, so midi signal could be like "yes, I got the note" or "I am
      not recieveing note". Ghost note can be translated as noise. Is hard becasue sometimes midi editor takes pick noises and we don't want it catch them but we want it catches our desired ghost notes... The difference is in our mind but editor gets always noises... and not always.
      Until this moment this is the best software for guitar players I ever
      tryed.
      Hope it helps.

      Yes, with a poly synth you can. Its an amazing plugin. Also you should have a pretty clean line-in sound; without it you may got some crunches and interferences being converted into notes you never played. Anyway, you can download it from some pages and try it, 100% recomended

    • @DaveBessell
      @DaveBessell Před 2 lety

      Yes, I've been using it to trigger a Deepmind 12 and other analogue synths. It works pretty well. I was impressed by how well it handles fingertapping too. The only concession I made was to use a string damper on the open strings. I'm used to playing with high gain sounds so I probably am a bit more careful about damping strings that are not sounding with my palm than some players. I didn't even need to mess with the sensitivity settings in the software it just worked straight out of the box. Try the free demo if you are not sure.

    Is there any way to get this software to record in MIDI rather than WAV? I want to lay down MIDI tracks with my guitar, and edit notes later to perfect the timing.
    edit: NVM figured it out. You use the vst as an input FX and set your recording to record MIDI. Wowwww what an amazingly fun and handy tool to have if you don't have a MIDI controller, or suck at keys haha.

      with virtual MIDI ports like loopMIDI (Win) or IAC (OS X) you can route to and from any application. If Mainstage can be setup with optional MIDI in port(s) it should then be possible. Audio routing thereafter can a bit more tricky on Windows.

  • @rongarza9488
    @rongarza9488 Před 6 lety

    I tried it and the sounds are really great, of course that depends where they come from but Midi Guitar 2 does a good job of reading your guitar and translating its analog sound to digital MIDI commands. HERE'S THE SLIGHT PROBLEM ... when a pressed string is released quickly, that's a Hammer Off, and Midi Guitar 2 faithfully hears that and processes it. So, to avoid that, the nut has to be dampened with felt or whatever, and that voids all open stings. Otherwise, yeah, this software is great.

    • @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco
      @BacktoBasicsLessonsAbelFranco  Před 6 lety

      Hi Ron, thanks for your comments. We must think that software must convert any signal that gets in to digital signal... it's the mission it was created for. :) As you well said it hears and processes it.
      Hope you enjoy!

    • @rongarza9488

      np, Abel. One other item ... Midi Guitar 2 worked great on my Windows 10 machine (Intel (dual) core i5 CPU M520 @ 2.4 GHz 64 bit OS X64 based processor). My XP machine (Intel Pentium 4) couldn't handle the signals fast enough -- the yellow signal at the top right corner kept lighting up as the notes were missed. So use dual i5 or higher. I don't know if Apple machines have a similar threshold.
