Great video,I only like it because Fishgum was in it Lol'' awesome advise about fishing tackle this video is a must see, for beginner's and the so call knowledgeable ones, these educational videos that u keep putting out should put anyone on fish, keep on educating,,,,,, Stay Safe God Bless,,,,,,,
Thanks, Joseph!! Hoping a lot of people new to the sport are able to learn quickly
Spot on, I just don't know how y'all catch with color. I just started watching these shows within the year and literally caught nothing with floats and beads. Took them out of my bag around 4 months ago and started catching Pompano, Reds and Whiting. FRESH bait, I've noticed, is the key as well. Thanks for the video Phil,,,
I’m sure that it varies based on a lot of factors...you absolutely have to have the right bait combined with added color. I’ve also had days that they would only bite without beads and floats. Keep doing what works!
I’m off to the pacific ,,Central America. What size of leader for mahi/ tuna
Personally I like the Sputnik weights because we have rough surf all the time, but pyramids are great as well.
Yes, the sputnik weights work awesome for a rough surf. Thanks for watching!
Took the advice lol thanks! 👍
You’re welcome!
Great video Mr. Phil, l have never tried Owner hooks. I guess l got to go track some down.
Thanks, Bill! Owner hooks are my favorites! Little more expensive but super strong
@@SaltSquatch l have had more than a few get straightened out. I guess l will have to switch over to Owner. Tired of losing the big ones.
Link is in the description of the video to what I use
What rod are you using in most of these shots?
Okuma Longitude. Haven’t been able to find another model...I think they stopped making it
tone down the music please its distracting. great information btw thank you
Do you think there is a big difference between fresh and frozen shrimp when targeting whiting? Also, is a pompano rig ideal, or a different one? I'm fishing on Folly Beach, SC.
Fresh is best as frozen often leads to catfish. I like to tie single drop pompano rigs with 10lb flouro and size 4 or 6 hooks (no beads or floats). If you don’t have access to that, then yes, use a pompano rig.
@@SaltSquatch thanks for the response!! Love the channel, keep up the great work!!
Thanks, Andrew!
@@SaltSquatch last question haha. For the single drop rig for whiting, how long is the whole rig and how far from the sinker should the drop be?
A lot of it is personal preference, but my whiting leaders are about 18”-24” and I tie both low single drop and high. I haven’t found one work better than the other...middle of the leader should work just fine!
N I’m l
