Great video for an older guy (68) getting back in to fishing after years away
Great video JC !! Years ago I was told by my Old Timer Friend he said sometimes the less jewelry on a rig is better . Thank you again for the video my friend !!
Thanks for posting that buddy, I think it will help a lot of people understanding the importance of weights with your rig. I’ve been doing this for years , and watching the guy catching is the key to success 👍
Man thank you, you clarified lots of misconceptions and bad habits learned from the wrong source... when I was a kid fishing was an expensive and frustrating mindless repetitive activity, there was no game; but now I can see through the actual challenge.
Awesome. Great at explaining. Even, I, a complete beginner got some very valuable info out of this. Keep it up!
thank you JC for all your hard work on all your videos
Excellent explanation! Thank you so much! Best regards…
Very informative especially for beginners like me! Gives me a great idea on when and where to use the best rigs! Keep up the amazing work🥰
great vid!! you should do a part 2 talking more about your favorite rigs for specific kinds of fish and conditions.
Thank you for your fishing community content contributions!
The snap swivel and paperclip tricks could be perfect for pier fishing where there's a lot structure. I will try this!
Thank you! I never grew up fishing, but I really want to get into it. I live near the ocean and can go every weekend.
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for introducing us to these way
I started fishing on freshwater so I had no idea how to start fishing saltwater
Great video JC I always enjoy your content😀
Got me with the knocker. Well done.
Great video brother. Appreciate the info!!
Thank you. I'm trying to buy fishing equipment for.a Christmas gift and this was very helpful.
Thank you for the info! I always get the little snappers now I know why
Nice video! Used to use the paperclip as a child, nice to see. if you fold the inner ends of the clip over once so it hooks itself it becomes much stronger
Really interesting video JC - great to see how you do things differently for different species across the pond! Here in the UK folks use beads for knot protection on most rigs. We're just coming into the Flatfish season (Plaice) and coloured beads (especially luminous ones) attract the fish. Most surf fishermen use gripper weights around 4-5oz so as they can cast out 100 yards or so to where the fish are. Up & over rigs are also popular here for Flatfish and bottom species, where the hooklength is tied to a swivel just above the weight, and it goes up to a clip at the top of the rig body, and clips back down near the weight for casting. This means you can have a rig length of 3ft, but a flowing hook length of 6ft and still have an easy rig to cast. Plenty of info on the UK CZcams fishing channels channels which you might find interesting! Thanks - stay safe & well! 👍👍
Hi there, I've learned so much from this video,a big thanks to you.
Another great 👍 video you keep it simple!😄😄😄Steven from Boston!
Awesome video. Thanks

Thanks great teachıng we can never stop learning
Keep up the good work of teachıng others 😊
Thanks for all the info I was wondering what rig you liked the best.
Thanks a lot for this video really helped out
Thanks for tips. I have not seen ya on your yack lately. Love the spotlock on that thing.
The knocker rig is great for sheepshead. I think I picked that up from your channel actually haha
Great video!!
Great video thanks
I learned a lot, thanks
I like this thank you !
Just an awesome video. 1 new sub, Thanks 🤙😎
Amazing thank you
Thank you so much for the tip on how to
Keep the weight from sliding over the hook eye I always have that problem and I would have to use a bead
Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Great video
Great info
Very helpful
Thanks!👍
Thanks for explain video
Thank you so much bro
Excellent video!!! great info thanks!!! Subscribed👻🏴☠️🌴🌴🌴
Yo you are the man
Thank you Sir. 🙏🏽
Thanks JC
Thank you JC! Hope to see you around soon! Have you fished at Big Carlos Pass yet?
Nice 👍
Thanks
Thanks so much im a real beginerr
I use split shot free lining shrimp on the jetties fishing close to rocks. I only pinch it on lightly as if the weight gets stuck it will come off the line easy.
Thks.
🙏 Thank you
I started using a bullet weight instead of an egg sinker and I think I get less hang ups in the rocks. Use a 1/4 of 3/8 oz and let the current drift it over the sheepshead. Seems to work.
egg sinker for ricks
Great video talking about the different types of fishing rigs but it could have been better if you also taught how to tie them. Thanks
Great video and breakdown of the rigs
I got a lot of frozen pilchard that a guy gave me, gonna use the rig you showed
Hay jc how do you tye a basic casting leader for back bay fishing with jig and plastic and mead size swimming plugs thanks
FG knot is the one I use the most. I periodically use a uni to uni knot.
FIRST! what's up rad reelers
great video... though my first consideration when rigging is always is there foul ground or not that might snag me up. I feel you kind of skipped over that when really it is the prime consideration for me and I only fish from land. Our foul ground here always has kelp on it and it is the kelp we snag up on so the "knocker" effect you speak of does not work at all. Once the hook (and it is always the hook not the sinker) catches the kelp you're pretty much stuffed.
How are you tying the loop for the weights to go on for the dropper rig??? Just an overhand knot???
I'd have to watch the video, but usually a over hand knot with the line doubled over works just fine.
What if there isn’t any info or people using rigs or baits like this in the area? What would you try first for a rig off the beach? There are no piers or anything down here in Haiti. And what size hooks would you use for those smaller to medium size fish like whiting or something of that size? Idk what fish are even here in Haiti haha
What size hooks are you using sorry new to Florida fishing I am from Colorado thx for your help also have you made a video on how to hook live bait?
I use a one ought most of the time. Periodically I go down to a #1...Live bait video here: czcams.com/video/f28vX6UPiOk/video.html
@@RadReelingFishing sweet tytyty for your help watching the vid now again thx for the help!!!!
Hell yeah
Do you think using a weight with an eyelet at the tip rather than a standard egg sinker would still be ok for a Knocker rig?
I guess. You'd have to bend the metal eye real tight though
I'm going to Costa Rica any advice for surf fishing. I've never fished salt
Yep, watch lots of CZcams videos. Just remember most fish hang around structure where the best source of food is.
the sinker with the swivels could be used to hook the fish =)
May I ask, HOW LONG/LENGTH do you make the leader line?
The length of a liter is different for the rigs. A fishfinder rig could have a 6 inch leader or 6 foot long leader.
What rig would u recommend for pompano for surf fishing
Surf fishermen use what's called a "Pompano" rig. It's the drop rig in this video with some little floats and beads added on.
@@RadReelingFishing is there another way last year I tried pompano rigs and all I caught was hard head cats and sirens🤦♂️
Rad go on Amazon and get glass beads there really cheap and u get 10000 for like 15 bucks never go without a bead 😊
is it a bad idea to use braided line for bottom rig?
Braid isn't very abrasion resistant.
That was carolina rig not fosh finder. Fosh fonder incorporate slider on the sinker isn't it?
I need help , my lead always gets tangled with my wait , how do I stop that?
Chicken rig with a heavier weight
Ponce inlet here
Hook sizes?
Darker background helps
I think they also call the fish finder rig as the Carolina rig...?
Stick set
👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌🎣🎣🎣😀😀😀
I’m such a bad fisherman it’s not funny. I live in MD near the Chesapeake Bay and I love striped bass. I really want ti learn. I kayak in the bay as well.
This is all very basic rigging info but maybe it can help someone who is just getting into fishing or the amatuer fisherman outbthere😎👍👍
Looks like you do a lot of fishing and know your stuff, but why are you using a snell ( octopus) hook tied straight like that ? It will pull the bait right out of the fishes mouth ...,I apologies if someone has already said that,,,not trying to pile on.
Don’t use your teeth on lead sinkers guys!
Hi. Why not?
@@goolambutler2994 guessing lead poisoning?
The only way to put lead sinkers on
@@goolambutler2994 you will break a tooth lol
@@kevinmalik3394that's why u have so many 😂😂🦷🦷
Probably a tatical angler clip not a paper clip
Never heard of a fish finder rig. That’s a Carolina rig.
Thanks for watching. A Carolina rig is actually for bass fishing. czcams.com/video/kcoL64iYhnI/video.html
Why even bother mentioning the beads if you don't even bother with them?
Great video!
awesome video thanks much
