Really interesting video JC - great to see how you do things differently for different species across the pond! Here in the UK folks use beads for knot protection on most rigs. We're just coming into the Flatfish season (Plaice) and coloured beads (especially luminous ones) attract the fish. Most surf fishermen use gripper weights around 4-5oz so as they can cast out 100 yards or so to where the fish are. Up & over rigs are also popular here for Flatfish and bottom species, where the hooklength is tied to a swivel just above the weight, and it goes up to a clip at the top of the rig body, and clips back down near the weight for casting. This means you can have a rig length of 3ft, but a flowing hook length of 6ft and still have an easy rig to cast. Plenty of info on the UK CZcams fishing channels channels which you might find interesting! Thanks - stay safe & well! 👍👍

great video... though my first consideration when rigging is always is there foul ground or not that might snag me up. I feel you kind of skipped over that when really it is the prime consideration for me and I only fish from land. Our foul ground here always has kelp on it and it is the kelp we snag up on so the "knocker" effect you speak of does not work at all. Once the hook (and it is always the hook not the sinker) catches the kelp you're pretty much stuffed.
