Landsknecht 🗿 we do our job done combining professionalism and warcrimes
Landsknecht are from a much later time in history! Technically after 1500’s. This was due to increasing economies where states rather dealed with money and bureaucracy to centralize the state. This in turn made it more usefull for subjects to own money to tax. In turn that tax was used to form retinues and pay for mercs instead of relying soly on militia’s or levies.
@@HansWurst1569 landsknecht are so swag they transcend time and space in our minds
@@HansWurst1569 I hope they will introduce a much more later time periods! And also horses! Can't get enough of the Gendarmeries!
@@HansWurst1569 1470s actually
i really like that the fully armored retinue are pertty much impervious to arrows and they just get stunned, how it should be, plate armor works!
Wait til they added crossbows
@@vagodinfir1636 crossbows didnt penetrate plate armor either, unless they were giant siege crossbows, which again would only be used during a siege, not on a battlefield.
@@agidotexe7167 the point of crossbows literally was to penetrate plate mail
@@Wickedmicro yees but not plate, plate and plate mail is not the same thing
@@agidotexe7167 yes it is gang
This game looks amazing. I wish we could get this guy more support so he can bring sieges and cavalry to the game. Oftentimes in the feudal age small amounts of mounted knights would have skirmishes and settle feuds with the lance. Also the terrain plays little role in these battles. Would be cool to have rivers with bridges or shallows, a natural choke point to fight over or maybe cliffs or large boulders and rock formations to force troops to flank or go into the meat grinder. Everyone is stroking off how cool the units interact together but the battlefields are BLAND.
I dont expect this game to be 100% realistic of course there are many things that medieval rts strategy games never get right:
1: in real life archers/crossbowmen never fired in volley that never existed, ranged troops were more independent and only fired if they knew it would do something.
2: flamed arrows everywhere, fire arrows were rarely used bc it was ineficient, when it was used it was against houses and they rarely set ablase.
3: arrows, bolts, sword and spears were of no use against a guy platted from head to toes, hammers or polehammers were used in this case to to smash in the armor.
4: no armed peasant not even men at arms would run like a mad men into any enemy formation even if they retreated.
And even more but im glad that the quivers are on the hips and they fight in formation
Did not expect to find this video 15 minutes after it was posted.
mazing
this guy is terrible at strategy games
@@cagneybillingsley2165 good to know
great game, looking forward to big open fields of battles, very nice in terms of view and the visuals of such.
I hope that this game will become a bit more complex with future updates, because right now, you can finish it in like 4 hours, you get nothing cool to do after you reach level 3.
I remember cav being in an early trailer. Is it not in early access? Because it'd be dope to see a cav charge XD
Cav are being added soon, just not yet!
its being reworked, the cav in the old trailer was very basic and barely worked
i love you Strat Gaming, never stop
can't wait to play this game
Would be awesome if our avatar can fight in battle like in Bannerlord
Bro already beat the game and it hasn't even released
How did you get so many of mercenaries, I remember your stream when it bugged out so I wonder how it works actually, did you keep them hired and then did you hire a new groups every time they refreshed?
You have to make money VERY fast and hire them before the AI does :)
@@Strat-Guides So there is fixed pool of mercenaries which could be depleted before you hire them, that sucks :)
@@scanix100but I like the realism of mercenaries going to the highest bidder and not just being a cop out for players who do t wanna raise an army
Good vid
first love these battle vids and second how long did it take to get this fair in the game if i may ask?
Thanks! This is the last battle against the Baron, so it's pretty much the late game. If you really rush it, you can probably get there in about 4 - 5 hours or so. My first couple of runs it took me 10 - 15 hours to get there each time because I was lost lol
Im so hype for this game, probably too hype!
very nice!!!! love it!
There is one other addition I think this game needs in terms of combat - cavalry.
That would be flanking, would be costly, and would have fewer troops per unit compared to the infantry.
Yeah definitely! They are being added to the game at some point :)
@@Strat-Guides It wouldn't just be for combat either IMO. Horses were used as work animals as well for the city building part of Manor Lords.
woppaaaaaaaaaaa. also i wonder if battle brothers is a reference to the game with the same name
Do you have the Manor built for this achievement?..if so how do you avoid getting the Retinue to join your army from the start?
Or as long as i dont rally them am good?
did you ever used retinues? or just didnt click on them at all? i plan to do the achievement but use them to steal the bandit chests off of AI. i wonder if that would disable the achivement
No retinue, only mercs or it will disable the achievement. You can still build the manor house, but don't deploy them
Can't wait for the mod that let's you command your troops while riding around on horseback in the TPP
what difficunty are you playing this on? does it count on relaxing difficulty?
Love the new content even if it’s not Bannerlord!
I have no idea how melee combat works. I hope they create a separate mode where you can practice tactics.
My best advice is to get to a big battle like this and just create a save game. You can reload as often as you like and try wacky stuff out! I've got 4 save files with different army compositions for this battle and it's been very helpful
Question about mercenaries, how if at all do they replenish?
Say you loose a couple of soldiers in a unit, do they replenish at all if you keep them around and dont disband them?
It's currently bugged - they are supposed to go back into the recruitment pool but they end up being reserved only by the first person to recruit. They restock their numbers when you disband and you can hire them again. If you hire them all first then the AI won't have access to them and vise versa
@@Strat-Guides So, first come first served? Good to know for open Early Access.
@@Strat-Guides Thank you for the awnser, interesting. Going to assume it would be fixed quickly if not already fixed before early acces launch.
Simo? Is that you?
LOL I was thinking that too when I made the TN :D SIMO is the mercenary GOAT
wonder if 1 day strat is gonna do a collab with simo and koifish
Mercenaries never replenish their numbers, do they? Say I used a group of hired brigands to fight bandit camps, some of them died, now that group is half strength. I'm worried that if I disband them to rehire next month, baron might snatch them before me. Can I replenish their numbers without risking losing them entirely?
So the only time mercenaries are taken out of the recruitment pool is when the Baron recruits them. If you disband them and rehire them, they will be at full strength. The Baron will hire mercs only when an enemy is present, but not always. They pretty much hire 100% of the time for bandit camps, maybe 50% or less for raiders and 100% to defend their lands when you claim them. If you hire everyone first, then they won't have access to them. Be careful, mercs update at the monthly tick so each new month, pause the game and hire if you're trying to block them. If no enemies are present on the map, you can just leave them in the pool to recruit later.
@@Strat-Guides That's some good info, thanks!
How can you afford all of them with your little village of 69 people? You saved up and speed up game to make that money? Or mercenaries also use manpower?
I had multiple towns actually, the 69 villagers was one of the small ones. You have to make a lot of money quickly so you can hire them before the AI does, otherwise you won't be and to get them later. It's a tough challenge and one of the achievements!
How do I get more than 6 slots? And alsooo, I never seem to get more than 2-3mercs in total? Do I need more regions?
So the way it works - you're supposed to have at most 6 units between militia and retinue. If you only hire militia first, then add retinue after, you can get more. As for the mercs, once the AI hires a group, they are taken out of the pool so if you want access to them, you need to hire them first! It's not a very good system IMO and I hope the dev changes it
Apparently there's a bug with the manor that allows you to infinitely increase retinue size
Yeah I saw that one. Not sure how I missed it in my testing because I've built probably over 100 manor houses at this point lol
Any idea why no mercenaries are spawning for me? I am trying to go for the achievement but I can't hire any units. I've been checking for maybe two years now.
Once the AI hires them, they are no longer available. To get the achievement, you need to rush personal treasury funds and hire as many as you can. Go nuts on trade and make sure you get all the bandit camps to fund your mercenaries. The more you hire, the easier the final battle will be, but it get's pretty expensive.
@@Strat-Guides Cool, thanks for the info!
I’m worried that people might misunderstood the game as being a rts instead of a colony survival game.
Almost all videos showcases the battles instead of its colony management aspect.
I've got several guides in the works that will be showcasing all of the game's mechanics and maybe 10% or less are combat related :)
dang ur arrows actually do damage
This was the patch before it went live for everyone - it got nerfed into the ground after lol
Hey strat have you seen the new KCD 2 trailer and will you be covering it??
Yeah I saw the trailer! It looks really good. I'm going to be reaching out to the devs to see if I can be on the list for early access. I'll definitely be covering it extensively. I has so much fun breaking their first game, can't wait to kill all the sheep and stab people in their sleep again haha :D
@@Strat-Guides same ,man!! I enjoy watching all of your vids especially games I’m not good at lol
Was it on challenging mode?
How do you contrac thay many mercenaries? i only can contract 3 groups. how can i get 5 like you?
I just heard about this game recently. Is it a bannerlord sequel or something?
Nope completely different developer.
It’s a city builder with battles
Different game by a solo dev
Hiya, How did you got 5 mercenary's company's
I was about to conquer last land and got against a huge army with myself only 6 units of mercenarys
This is easy. You can appoint mercenaries before declaring war and wait until other mercenary contracts appear, then appoint them and so on. i did that when i was going for last land
Is there friendly fire with archers
No cavalry
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy did you post when I am in schooool
Now I want to watch but I got a aaaaa trippppp
🏫🏫🏫
How do you hire that many mercenaries? In my game l, I have a lot of money, but only one company of mercenaries is available for hire.
Nm, I see you answered this a few times already - hire mercs early and keep them on retainer.
no cav in this game?
not yet, the dev is working on it, remember hes only one man working on a big game like this.
Soon!
Did the same thing. Didnt get the achievement...
is AI bad? they suicide charged into your whole army piecemeal unit by unit.
Not usually, but I was lucky on this one. I had to fight this battle 3 times to get this win actually - they rolled me up the first time and the second time it came down to the last man, but I ended up barely losing.
@@Strat-Guides do you have any video of the lost battles? So far everybody seems to be getting easy wins with bumb AI
Can do another walkthrough pls
Working on it today!
A bit of a clickbait title for this video :). Using the word broken suggests you are asking for a merc nerf.. Broken suggests you think something needs to be fixed. I don't see anything broken about mercs here. You built up a very large treasury and hired 1.5 to 2 sets of mercs to get 11 units (max in one set is 9 I think dependent on what spawns in a season) which will have cost at least 2 months of wages I would guess and then used decent tactics to defeat the barons army in detail. That will always result in favourable results for your army and you could do the same with 11 units that were a mix of retinues and militia. How could the player do the merc only challenge if mercs were not decent? and if you buy lots across more than one season then of course they are going to be good. It looks like you started with 11 units and ended with 8 units with low to medium casualties on the remaining units. Anyway, I like your videos but using video titles with "broken" in it before the game is even available for all just creates unnecessary drama although I can understand why you did use that word given the current hype around the game.
That's not really what I was referring to. The units themselves are better than militia as they can go into a shield wall and get a huge defense bonus from it. I understand your point and I already changed the title.
@@Strat-Guides Ok thanks for listening and the feedback. I agree that the shield wall that some mercs bring and also the merc archer perk are very solid. I guess from a historical point of view it makes sense as a trained merc unit will always be better tactically than a militia unit. Hopefully in the future we will be able to train up at least 1 militia to have some tactical tools like that, maybe only level 3 ones or be able to do something more with retinue.
@@wittynewt610 a training camp building would be really cool. You can train day 5-10 people at a time in a unit. That is their “job”. Once they are trained to level 2 or 3 then it will rotate 5-10 more to train as their job
This man was cookin
@@cameroncrider6970 A training camp was a idea shown in one of manor lord trailer. It just not presented here within this build.
